This one bought a tear to my eye. I took my jimny out with my best mate for the first time last year to the same area. Watching this is almost like re watching that day, we both had no idea what we were doing, got bogged but we both had a smile on our face the whole time. It was the last time I got to hang out with him he committed suicide 2 weeks later. Keep an eye on your mates guys they are too precious to loose.

@@jeffman3 myself and several other people I know went the way I described. Car meets just aren't as fun as hitting trails with your buddies. I went from a FD3s (which I still have) to a new Ford ranger I'm going to kit out for overland when I have paid it off.

@@vdfsbdz I strongly suspect I'll end up swaying back toward 4x4s; I just recently bought my first car back from the person I sold it to and I've got big plans for it. It's an 87 Samurai I sold for $300 in 2010, and I tracked it down just a few months ago and bought it back for the same price.

Sometimes it’s a matter of being able to share the passion with the gf or family. Tuners/HotRods/Racecars are pretty singular in their experience, but off-roading can often be shared...as much as I want a balls out crazy fast car, I know my daughter was scared shitless of it and my fiancé hated climbing over the rollbar in my old Foxbody, (along with the way it rode and how loud it was). Both however love getting out on the trails. And as such, being able to share that with them has adjusted my focus that direction.

There is no MCM tax, they just show everyone else cool cars that are available and what you can do with them that people may not have thought of before. If you were going to buy a Jimny, you'd get one by now. Keep an eye out, you can always find bargains if you look hard enough

Awesome video, made me smile so much!! My free advice, FWIW--1. You already have the most important mod there is: a good mate with another proper 4WD; get some decent tow points on the Jimny and the Kei Truck, buy a snatch strap, put a CB radio in both vehicles and you can talk to each other while trying out all the 'should I/shouldn't I?' bits without having to walk home when you get a bit stuck. 2. Tyres that grip will get you further than anything else (until you've got tyres that grip). 3. Drive to take advantage of the vehicle's strengths and mod to minimise its limitations (everything is relative to the vehicle's size, wheelbase/track, gearing, weight, etc.); a small, short-wheelbase vehicle has more lines to choose from. @@SurgeDashcam that happens a lot in videos I watch with people shooting with a suppressor, the mic doesn’t give you a true idea of how quiet the shot actually is, along with how loud the un-suppressed shot is. It all levels out on the viewers end.

I took a Jimny out on Fraser Island for a couple days of trail driving and they’re legitimately the sports car of the off-roading world. Nothing like 4WD drifting through the sand. You guys are going to have a blast!!

Maxing a 4x4 out is actually putting the biggest tyres on/tyre size you want, and then putting on the smallest lift you possibly can without it scrubbing.

A huge lift is a bad idea. It'll make the Jimny less capable and just make you roll it. Like Liam said the smallest lift with the biggest tyres is the best. But diff lockers will get you the furthest off road

I've been driving jeeps for 10 years and I remember my first time going offroad and being just as excited as Marty & Moog... I had a bone stock, white Cherokee XJ diesel and it was the exact same feeling, the tiniest obstacle was so awesome to overcome... Well done guys, welcome to the club! Enjoy!

This video made me happy. Stoked you guys are giving 4x4ing a go. When I first took my hilux surf off-road and got stuck, it was one of these little Jimny’s that pulled me out. Embarrassing, but they’re damn capable little trucks. Since then I’ve had quite a few little Suzuki’s and with a welded rear diff, a lift and some tyres they’re off their chops.

Very nice ride! My first was a 98 Isuzu Rodeo with 5 speed trans. I took every single trail I drove past, just to find what's down there. I hit every puddle and mud pit I could find until I actually *broke* my tires(they didn't go flat). In the first 2 months of owning it, three tires had the steel coming through the tread. Off-roading is so rewarding because of the new places you can explore and what you'll find out there!

The car just makes so much more sense than a G-class, since it's small and therefore actually capable of going off-road instead of the gravel highways you'd need for that massive G-class.

Hey guys! I had a Suzuki Sidekick when I was a teenager many years ago and you didn't even have to put that thing in 4-wheel drive. I put some tiger paw fat tires on and with the 5-speed and in the Chicago midwest snow it did awesome.

I owned an SJ413 "Samurai" for 5 years when I worked in Khartoum, Sudan ( same as the Jimny Mark 2 I think). They had the best reputation of being good on sand. The big heavy Land Cruisers and the like would get bogged when the little light Suzuki would just keep going without missing a beat. It never broke down once in 5 years in harsh conditions. The only maintenance costs were consumables and a new battery. The design and engineering is as good as anything else to come out of Japan. A great fun car hope you continue to enjoy it as much as I enjoyed mine.

The Jimny was the first car I owned. Got it brand new in 2001 Retired it in 2018 because the Transmission went bust. It ran more than 240000 km. Survived 5 crashes. Built like a tank. As I drove from every accident to the mechanics. For me it's the ultimate car to mod. I had a touchscreen in the centre console. I added a emergency hammer area on the drivers side where there is no handrail. I added cabin lighting in the back using led spot lights from ikea. And a metric buttload of stickers on the rear door. I'd love to send you some pictures for inspiration. A awesome car. I couldn't be more hyped to see where this is going. :D

My first 4X4 was an Isuzu Trooper, such a beast and so underrated. I love off-roading! Take things slow, if you hit water too hard you can shoot it up into your intake and electronics. Look into waterproofing your engine bay for some simple things if you'll see a lot of water.

Even more capable offroader was the Niva, to the Jimny. In NZ there was a guy who modded the Fiat cloned engine, that closely resembles a Lancia engine, that you can bolt that head directly on the Lada engine, and added a turbo. That was some beast.

@@robda7195 . You can’t import a vehicle thats sold here officially, unless you have owned it overseas for more than 12 months. Even then, they stiff you a lot of extra charges and stuff, make you change tyres, extra checks etc.

I've been watching MCM for yonkers, I never would've thought they would do a jimny. I have a 2002 jimny with a lift, tyres and the back panelled out to go touring round the UK. Belting lads!!!!
