he would go totally insane if he come at a auction house in Montreal close to all the damn car are rusted to the bone because of the damn salt and dirty snow haha
@@Onegamex I once tried to import a WRX from MTL to Vancouver Island. The inspector didn't want to bother and just denied me. I made a fuss and he went to jack it up. Jack went right through the jackpoint, through the floor, and was poking out inside hahaha
living in the north east of the states it always cracks me up hearing sam talk about rust. he would have a heart attack if he saw some of the 90s tuner cars we have here lol
Totally agree that the cars are heading to be actual classics, and the parts will become really hard to find, these iconic masterpieces are destined to sit in rich peoples garages never to see the light of day again, much like the classics of the past, Audi Quattros, E30 M3s, Sierra RS Cosworths etc, untouchable mythical beasts for the super wealthy.... Just had an idea...would love to see you do a Dick Johnson RS500 replica drift Sierra... 👌😂
We have the same crazy prices over in the UK. Dealers have turned to private sales for profits, with good deals selling in just a few minutes, and major dealerships even buying off ebay auctiions.
@@CforClairvoyant it's wild isn't it? We have to have one of the biggest car cultures. We have it all not just muscle cars, but the jdm is severely lacking.
@@fuxbox I rarely see any moddifed cars as well. Like how could we "love cars so much" and all I see is stock muscle cars when an exhaust or just customized exteriors like wraps and body kits lol. Never any real fun stuff!!
Sammit seems like a really cool guy I love watching his videos he knows a lot about cars I learn a lot of good knowledge from him thank you sammit and like always God bless 🙏😁
I love Sam steering buyers away from cool 30 year old cars so he can have them all to himself lol 😂 more honda , Toyota content Sam. But loving the channel. All the best for the new mini Sam coming soon 🤠
Love these videos. If possible wish we could get an idea on what these cars are currently selling for and what a reasonable price would be. As someone, like myself, just looking more into these cars I'd love to have a good idea of if it'll be worth while to get a car like a R34. Some places I've seen asking 100-255k for a mint R34 and at that point I'd just get a used R35 for between 70-80K instead locally instead if the prices are that crazy for a R34 with 40-70K miles on it
Alot of these cars probably sold during the COVID boom and they over payed for them that's probably why the reserves are so high if I had to guess. Very interesting video sam!
The evo3 was the last one with the engine in that lay out I believe. Because alot of dsm (turbo eclipse) guys over here would use those engines and trans. So evo 4 and up should be how your last evo was.
That being said Sam none of the new cars on the market are anywhere as cool as a jzx-100 bro. Coming from an owner of a chaser, it is hands down the coolest best driving car I have ever drove!! Would not trade it for anything!!!
20:46 I totally agree what he says about these new car fresh out in the market like GR86, 2022 Supra GR, 2022 Nissan Z (Fairlady Z) and more goes the list. Its hard to debate with you decision to spend $60K on a new car that has zero mileage or getting a iconic/legendary JDM car that will cause more maintenance down the road and that depreciates more when you drive it and put some more mileage in to it. That is one of my concerns if when I’m saving money can I put that money in to a brand new car or getting a JDM car that will work more along the way? Great video in these auction out in Japan.
It still amazes me that Japan is this safe that you can leave your VERY expensive cars WITH the keys in and unlocked in a huge lot that people can easily go in and out of. Bet you if it was any other country, they would at least have attempted thefts such as broken windows.
It’s crazy there, when I went in 2013 there was next to no cameras in retail stores, people leave personally items unattended. It really is such a safe place that even petty theft barely exists.
Looks like the Japanese market is having the same effect as the NZ market atm - lots of high reserves, not a lot of selling, and a scared buyers market that doesn't want to spend the money that these things are going for. Having just sold a few 180SX's - theyre definitely coming down in price.
My 34 gtt is coming next week from Japan to Australia, so excited! And it was so much cheaper than buying it locally, just got to cross my fingers and hope it's not a dud but I'm hopeful as I took your advice and made sure it was inspected and it came back pretty decent and I managed to win it for a little below budget. Love the vids! They've been super helpful!
@@connordodsworth2301 can't say for sure yet, the car arrives in Fremantle on Sunday and will go to compliance and rego over the next fortnight, obviously do your own research and don't trust a stranger over the internet but I went through Japan car direct and they sorted me out, just make sure to budget accordingly for getting it over here 👍
That black s13 looks almost exactly like the one Moog from mcm lost in a fire, would be a nice nostalgic car for him, even taking in mind he already build the white s chassis one.
Bro I almost laught out loud when you were looking at that 33 gtr with that little bit of rust in the strut tops, I would of called that near mint😂, I think we’re a bit more used to rust in the uk, bad strut tops here are completely missing strut tops
Those strut tops look ok, but underneath the layers of steel they will be rusty as. If you watch Wheeler Dealers Ed China repairs an R33 one time and he had to rebuild those strut tops and it shows how much rust is under there
I'd definitely take both of the Nissan's in the center of the thumbnail though. Got my first Nissan in 1999 (S13 240SX coupe). Fell in love and been buying Nissan here and there ever since. I still that S13 in a garage too. Totally stock but you it will still break loose with the slightest effort.
Bro i would like to see more subaru sti Vlogs one of my dream cars I realy Appreciate the effort for educating car lovers huge thumbs up for that 👍 👌 👏 ❤from sri lanka
Japan Auto Auctions is not the only place to get JDM cars, we actually source out cars in all corners of the world. There are times its cheaper to buy cars here in Australia than in Japan, specially for the US market. Specially defected jdm cars, because of some aftermarket parts, etc. Some owners can't be bothered spending money to fix the defect, and they sell their cars cheaper. But we make more money on high end unicorn JDM's
I'd take that R33 GTR in a heartbeat... to keep it in Japan obviously... The low milleage R34 is really clean! I would not worry at all about the rust underneath, for me, from Canada, it is nothing! We don't have as bad rusted cars as in Okinawa but it is quite close, but cars rust from underneath...
1000% "friends" in the auction houses are bidding up currently, I was bidding on a few RSX Type R and EP3 Type R during december when the dollar was low 70's and people were bidding just a bit over my budget then mysteriously reposted for less than my max bid few days later like what... lmao
Sam, get a replacement for the TME but think about getting an Evo X, I know at first glance you wont think about it but man you would love it, the 4B11T platform has a lot of potential. It is sad it is so overlooked. Anyways, cheers from Phoenix, Arizona. :)
Loving all the icon Japanese cars, but for me if I had money to burn i'd buy them and restore them if necessary. But since I don't I might not ever get an icon car to me. But just roll with whatever I can get and is more reasonable to buy as a commuter but can also be a fun and reliable car.
Bro you can do it, it’s a choice not to get your dream or icon car , if you really want it you can make it happen, I’m only 24 and got a 20k original mile R32 GTST type M as my second car to my daily (even though it isn’t a GTR it’s close enough for me) . I may pay $700 in car payments monthly between my 2 cars but it is 100% worth it
My Dream var is the R32 but i live in Denmark so the Price of just getting the var on danish plates is like 300% the Price you gave for it. So i`ll probably never be able to get one
Hey mate, I love all your contents. I am panning to import toyota hiace vans to Australia. Are you able to do reviews on light commercial vans when you get a chance?
that kinda sucks the old evo engines are flipped this means if you buy one in the states and pop the motor you need to source evo 1 engine from japan instead of just being able to junkyard shop for a newer evo replacement engine.
I live in Canada and can tell you for sure 100 percent that if you don't have any experience importing cars from over seas don't. The cost of import is huge. The market value on these vehicles is very high at this point in time. If you watch the market you can get a great deal but it takes time and patience. In short yes buying a car at a Japanese auto auction is feasible. So long as you live in Japan. If your in Canada not so much. I imported a skyline a few years ago and it got crushed at the Canadian border. Lost my money and only answer I got was contaminated...
