When it comes to such GPUs, I'm not all that bothered by the fans, but very worried regarding the VRAM. The VRAM temps on higher end 30 series cards are just way too much for extended periods.

at 11:25, the factory thermal compound is supposed to look like that, the reason being longevity. It's designed not to be the best tim, but the longest to last, remember not all users will disassemble their stuff, so it's supposed to last at least 3 years for the warranty and a couple more for extra safety or in case of extended warranty. It kinda looks like the stuff intel used to put on their cpu's, my friend's i7 4670k still runs at the same temps it did back when it was released and this tim looks the same to me.

Great video as always, but I have to ask 2 questions. 1, I have a 2060 super thats a blower model, it's relatively new, about 3 months old, and she's damn loud. I know blowers usually are, but would repasting it help a bit? And my second question, what was that banger remix you were playing around the 14 minute mark?

I took a chance and bought an MSI Armor RX570 4GB from someone on FB that was showing heavy oxidation and some rust. I confirmed that it worked and bought it for fairly cheap and was able to give someone a decent deal when I sold it recently when I replaced it with a 1060. It worked flawlessly but was definitely suspect when I first got it. It ran in my wife’s PC for a few months with good temps and just looked not so great.

the blue thermal pads don't seem to have very good heat disappation ratings, especially compared to the pricey SSD thermal pads you can pick up at pc shops which run about $AUD12-18 and are tiny. Have you done any testing on the different pads, like 1W/mK - 12W/mK

B6 is memory training.... just FYI. Thermal paste is only there to fill imperfections in the surface, less is better than to much, the more you use the worse the results will be, if the two surfaces are 99% flat, the thermal paste is only used to fill the 1% that isn't in contact the rest will become an insulator which is not what you're looking for.

Question. What do GPU accelerator cards do and can I use an older one to "power up or accelerate" a 10, 20 or 30 series GPU? And are they only used for mining? What do they do for mining? And what can they do for gaming? And I guess do I need specific accelerator cards for specific models or series of GPUs? The one's I saw, they're called something akin to K930 and look like a GTX series GPU. I passed up the offers on Ebay during the holidays and now they are $700 a piece instead of $100USD and now I'm bummed cause I don't know what to do to get into mining. Or better gaming. Or maybe just giving my GPUs more time to live. I honestly need some help. I'm a new builder overall.

Is it possible that the 2nd hand gpu is causing a memory_management bsod on windows? Because it also has another problem which is it cant be overclocked even for 10mhz increase, it will just crash after a few minutes(i did change the paste tho). When I add thermal paste, I put considerably less than you. If I ever repaste again, I notice blank areas in the paste I had applied last time. However the blank areas are are mirrored i revers on the cooler plate. Meaning there is a complete layer between the two surfaces. ... If there are areas where there is barely an paste at all, which happens sometimes. It likely means that the cooler-plate and core were closer there, and in hard contact. All but the smallest trace of paste got squished out. My theory to use less paste than you is because I want as little as possible squeezing out the sides. I think that wasy because if your paste squishes out and overs the GPU components by the core. Then you are in fact adding another layer of insulations over them, making them run hotter. Albeit that layer of insualtion is thermal paste. That paste is not in contact with the cooler though, so it in effect acts like a blanket. When I say I put a smaller amount of paste on, I do get some squish of paste gets pushed out. Not a lot though. It's encuoraging that I get squish, because it means the paste has travelled, filling in any gaps. I get good temps compared to stock paste so I am happy. (It also depepnds ont eh paste though. Like MX4 is cooler when applied thinner. Kryonaut is better with a bit more.)
