Those damn hampster balls. I feel so bad for my piggies they were apparently put in one together at the shelter. Granted they were 2-3 months old so it probably didn't hurt them as bad as it would an adult large piggie. I actually called the shelter after doing research and told them how bad it was for guinea pigs to be in them. These were my first piggies ever so I didn't know it was bad for them at first either.
Good thing you did the research and found out. I also made my share of mistakes when I first had Peanut. Our goal here at GuineaDad is to lead the market to make sure there is no space for bad products. Only way to avoid any mistakes like mine and yours.
For some reason, I always thought GuineaDad was the male equivalent of an old cat lady, but for piggies. I was wrong. He's pretty young-looking! I'm surprised. 😅 Sorry if that was awkward. Not sure from where I got that idea. 🤔
The snack shack...I got it and my two girls basically ate the whole entire thing! 🤦🏽♀️ lol also the Mazuri food pellets next to the one you picked up is the one I always get
The Snack Shack is not meant for guinea pigs as they cannot eat cooked stuff. The Snack Shack is high in calcium and high in sugars. Guinea pigs cannot process honey either. It's not a healthy alternative to your guinea pig. As we do recommend on the guinea pig forums. A great alternative would be clean cardboard boxes or a Timothy Hay Hideout.
We had a snack shack but got rid of it because it had too much urine and poop on and in it. Then we got something similar and I broke it by barely sitting on it XP
I work at a Petco. Ive bought multiple sets of your guys fleece for my little fellas. It’s second to none quality wise! You should strike a deal with Petco to sell in the stores, I believe in you guys!
I got the accordion tunnel, mine love them so much that I bought 2 so I can clean one out and dry it all day long, then switch them out. Then I just started to put a long pee pad in (I made them), that has kept them clean and dry, I now only need to clean them every 4 days.
Gotta agree it certainly is easy to get guinea pig stuff in germany😂 Tho pet stores still have some snacks and houses advertised for piggies that aren't suitable tho, but those are getting less prominent in comparison to past years. So there are lotsa healthy snacks, different toys, hides, etc. now. If you ever go to Germany I also recommend ordering from "Knastladen" (since I don't think they ship international). They have really cool options for houses, hay racks, and more!
Our piggies and I LOVE your fleece liners. Wash after wash they hold up. What I would truly love is if it were possible that you guys could start making them in circular shapes, like for play pens. I have a large kiddie- pool type playpen for floor time for my boys, and I use your liners for the playpen of course. It’s just a challenge to fit because they are rectangular. It would be amazing if we could get different shapes of your liners because they are absolutely number one the best of the best! 🐹💜😃
Woah! I was actually blown away by your positive experience about our GuineaDad liners Dawn. It really means a lot to us when we hear from a very happy and satisfied customer. It's a great reminder that we are doing a great job at what we do. 😍 Honestly, we are actually thinking about adding more colors, designs and shapes to our liners but we just do not see it happening yet in the coming months. For more updates, please kindly follow our newsletter at guineadad.com! Please also check back with us anytime if you can. 😊
You can wash the plastic tunnel, just take a hose and open it to as much as it can open, throw a little mild soap in there, and just hose it out inside. A few hours, or in your case in the desert, maybe a half hour outside and it's dry. I think the plastic tunnel is better than the material ones, because they're hard to wash, even on delicate, and after a few washes, you have to toss it. So happy you're making more videos, Yay!
Now I live on a third floor, so no access to outdoor hose. Thanks for watching our videos! Our plan is to have at least two videos a week 👍 Hope to be able to make more great content once we figure out the RU-vid a little better 😊😊
Have to go to US with empty bags... never seen so much treasures for Guineapigs. At our foodstore in village were I live... something for everyone... dogs, cats, rats, wild birds, babies, woman and men... one or two little plasticbags with pellets for Guineapigs and hare... that is all. A little sad... especially as farmer delivering hay is getting older... not much of foodsupplay for Ginnypigs while living on the countryside... oh... have to slap my self... NATURE... 😊 A source of plenty. Realizing while writing this. Have it (almost) all around the corner. Spring, summer, autumn... wintertime for skandinavians is a time for enjoying the harvest... the season for remembering summer gone. Great video. Thank You, M, from Sweden
Thank you very much for watching! I think another potential upside for living near nature is foraging wild (but safe) plants for the piggies. I remember watching some of those from Erin's Ark RU-vid. 😊
@@GuineaDad Where would one go to purchase said fleece? I am looking to purchase more fleece mats for my Guineas so I could have more backup mats and I could have a hamper like and not have to wash the mats as often, because right now I have to do daily or every other day washes, which uses more water. I saw on a Little Adventures video they had GuineaDad fleece mats, which made me want them too, and she said they were sent to her, so I wasn't sure if I could get them for myself.
I’m a little late but... The purple bag pellets that your we’re looking at is the same brand that makes the food that I feed my rabbit. I don’t know how the guinea pig diet works, (I don’t own guinea pigs) but that brand has worked AMAZING for my rabbit, her coat is so shiny and soft, she is happier and best of all she loves them! I think you should try that brand out for your piggies!
When my guinea pig Charlie traveled with me on the plane, his airfare was $260. More than a human! Lol! He loved red bell peppers and carrots, so he got a lot of vitamin c. Your girls are so cute. Maybe they will enjoy bell peppers too. ❤️🐹🐹🐹❤️
Oh, I remember being on Spirit Airlines because that was the only airline that would allow guinea pigs when I moved to Chicago about 3 years ago. We had to go through a separate security line to go into this box for a thorough inspection. I remember the airport security looking at us weird 😂
How coincidental! I had a guinea pig named charlie but he died a while back, and your username is midnight which is the name of one of my current piggies.
1:12 i have three guinea pigs and i bought them two of those edible logs and they love them! but the down side is that they can get dirty so be wise about buying one.
The snack shaks are great, my girls only nibble on them occasionally and I stuff it full of hay. I highly recommend the Oxbow Garden Select which you blew off because of the picture on the bag. It was funny to watch you because you fell for typical consumer traps. You liked the one bag because of how it looked and blew off the other one for the same reason. The best food could come in a plain paper bag and people wouldn't buy it because of how it's packaged! The important part is what's in it not what it's in. I do give you credit for going in with more knowledge than the average consumer and reading the ingredients. Don't fall for the traps!! Love you guys and your piggies
Haha, thanks for watching the video. I wouldn't say we "fell for it." 🙄 You can think of my monologue as my mindset going back and forth between a marketer and a consumer. As a marketer, obviously the packaging and design are important, but as a consumer and a guinea pig parent, I totally agree that what is inside is the most important.
@@GuineaDad yes, I understand, you were thinking out loud for us. There are so many products at the pet stores marketed for piggies that are simply not good and even harmful. All of it is marketed for us, with bright colorful packaging. Sometimes I want to go to the stores and leave post it notes on all the bad stuff that says "Do Not Buy"!d
Your pet store is so nice, my pet store doesn’t rlly have fun stuff for guineas and when they do it’s normally rlly expensive, the thing that also makes me mad is I spend 11 dollars on Higgins sunburst food, and they only fill the bag halfway like bro don’t make me pay all that for that much in the bag, and I’m 12 so I mean I guess 11 dollars isn’t a lot but today I spent my money on it but whatever i guess it’s what she needs anyways the store your shopping at is amazing where is it at?
Alfalfa has a higher calcium content than timothy hay which can contribute to bladder stones in guinea pigs. I am a veterinarian and have a particular interest and some experience in clinical nutrition :) also I am a new guinea pig parent, my Nugget loves your fleece liner!
Don't come to Canada to look for guinea pig supplies. We don't even have an isle , its just a shelf with a couple things 😭 I envy you guys who have the big pet stores!
I live in calgary, and I noticed supplies for birds and rodents are not nearly as much as for cat and dogs and fish. Therfore, if we have a pet again, we may have to get most of their supplies from online
Selective is great. It is a very good quality small animal food.I use the rabbit and guinea pig versions. It is really high in fibre and neither my rabbits nor guinea pigs have ever had digestive issues on these--and they love them
I’m experienced with guinea pigs, and I’m thinking of adopting two sows that live in the same enclosure in the adoption center. But I still need to find out the right size of cage for them, because right now I have the MidWest Guinea Pig habitat plus, but I don’t think that’s big enough. Any ideas? Love your liners by the way!
Two questions - do you have a hay that you recommend since the GD hay boxes aren’t back in stock yet? And what is the grass that you grew for the piggies? Did you grow it from seeds?
I would go to the pet store (one that offers lots of brands and has high foot traffic) to buy what looks the freshest (green, least flakes, and dust to prevent respiratory disease). Some of these bags will have small holes, so it helps to smell them to gauge its freshness. You definitely want to avoid some musky smelling ones. In regards to the grass, the one that I planted was barley grass seeds, but you can also do wheatgrass seeds. Both of these grow pretty fast. Using soil generally makes it grow thicker and faster, but hydroponic also works well.
Can give wheat grass and grow from seeds. Best to buy hay from a horse feed store. They often have smaller, but huge in comparison to pet store hay. And the price is amazing. They have loose bags of hay at the red barn near me in Tarzana. I get Orchard and Timothy for my Guinea pigs there. They have other hats, an amazing selection.
Based on visiting different pet stores, they have all been about the same, unfortunately. I actually found more stuff at IKEA (cat toys) for my guinea pigs. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-VOYdMRKh_jo.html
Im getting guinepigs soon , im not very sure on what sort of toys they need . Is it just chew toys or do they need rubber things or tunnels . and is there a certain brand that is better then others and a brand that sucks ? could you please do a video about that subject
Thanks for letting us know! We are continuing to do our research to find out everything about guinea pig pellets. We will be sure to let everyone know what we find out!
I live in Germany and the selection for guinea pets in pet stores is even smaller. I do a lot of online shopping for them... i could not find anywhere the hay log (not even online). There is no concept of C&C cages - i ordered the grids and Coroplast also online, from an UK website. I think the LittleAdventurers live in UK, not in Germany (yes, she is from Germany)
Be careful with the snack shack. I read on a guinea pig forum that snack shack might include ingredients like wood shavings and molasses to keep it together, so keep an eye out if your girls start chewing through it.
Is that an exotic vet clinic in Las Vegas? We moved to Las Vegas recently, still looking for a good guinea pig vet. Sounds like you have a friendly and caring vet 😊
So I was looking if there is one in Vegas right now there isn’t unfortunately 😭😭 but they should put one there cause there vet center is best in my belief
Hey I love your channel and seeing your beautiful piggies! I have two, Cookie and Milo and I've been wanting to get the timothy hay from your website for a while. Do you know when you will have them back in stock?
I actually expected the UK shops to be better than the US! We will do our best to change all this in the US and worldwide. guinea pigs need to be taken seriously 👍
my guinea pig section in pet smart used to be huge but one day i came and it was sooo small i was really upset because there is barely any choices anymore
Hi! Have 3 piggies myself (1boar and 2 females) recently my 5 year old female started to lose fur on her back/butt spot. She’s eating perfectly fine and squeaks for veggies every morning. It’s really concerning but do you think it could be from age, she does have ovarian cysts so could that also be why? We didn’t choose to spay her because of her age, ( she’s not pregnant either the boar lives separated from the girls) I don’t think it mutes cause her sister doesn’t have fur loss. Any info helps! I’m really scared 😟 btw your videos ARE AMAZING!! guinea pigs are sooo underrated 🤦♀️ keep up the amazing work!
Oh this must have been one of those video where we hid one-time use coupon in the video. I think at one point someone got so good that winner was always the same. We had to stop doing it lol
In Canada or where I live it’s way worse it’s like a fourth of what you have and the treats and stuff are all unhealthy or the hides are all too small 😅
Hi. I don’t have a rodnet myself, only a cat. But my friend has a hamster. I just read Down in the comments that, the wheel is bad for their spine. Is that true? I thought it was exercise.
I gave my piggies one of those expandable tubes. My issue with them is I really didn't like how much the piggies chewed them. Didn't like the idea of them swallowing the plastic.
First time guinea pig owner! I've done research, but you seem so knowledgeable! Which pellet food is best? Teeth toys? Any other tips would be helpful! Thanks!
I'd assume your piggies are under 6 months old. There are baby guinea pig pellets out there, it should have alfalfa as well as timothy as its base. The more important than pellet is to have an abundant amount of hay available at all times. I really mean abundant enough for them to pick and choose what they want to eat. For teeth, good fresh hay will help grind their teeth, but having some wooden chew toys are always helpful. Preferably, not pine. Be sure to check out GuineaDad Liner if you are looking to convert to fleece from traditional paper and wooden beddings.
@@GuineaDad Thank you for the reply! I am getting them from my friend who cannot have them anymore. They are two, both males, and they're two years old. I plan on taking them to the vet when I get them, which will be next weekend. I'm just wanting to have everything all ready for them!
Sherwood guinea pig food is what I give to mine and they love it. One of my guinea pigs had problems with bloating but it hasn't been as frequent know since switching from Kaytee's brand
