We have owned a dual cab 79 series work truck/family car for five years now. I must say I reckon you summed them up pretty spot on! Mine finishes lease in two months and i have decided to hold on to it for good. Keep up the good work Danie, your doing a great job!!
Wow! Great new truck! Congratulations. Can't wait to see what you do with it. I've still got my 1989 HJ61 Sahara & can't think of what I will replace it with when the roof rusts off. Maybe a Rivian if they ever make it to Austalia??!! Keep up the work on your 60 series!
I wish that I bought my dad's FJ45V off him back when I was younger....... Hindsight is a wonderful thing isn't it... I just love the simplicity of the old school 4wd's as they are built basic to survive the elements of the harsh Aussie outback. Anyway congratulations on the new purchase guys as the 70 series Cruisers are the last of the true 4wd's left...... Just don't tell my new Dmax X-terrain that 😂😂
Little tip for the failed door closes. Car is more air tight. In my Kenworth, I have to have window down a touch, then door closes first time. Also have weathershield fitted as per my Prado 120. No more failed door closes. Luv your stuff, Greetings from Sydney.
Don't knock the 76 Danie, I got one and love it lol. Tip, get heat proofing and sound deadening before you does interior mods. My only complaint is heat and road noise coming through floor and doors.
Have watched your progession on utube for quite some time now. I have a big smile on my face and my wife and I are so happy for you both to see where you are at. Enjoying watching your landcruiser variants and even though we only have a ole hilux ln167, we feel like we are part of your toyo family and friends. Well done and please keep smiling and especially your cheeky grin. Hi from Mareeba FNQ.
I'm very excited about seeing what design / r&d and fabrication jrace does in the future. I was recommended your channel on youtube and I gotta say, everytime I tune in, there's a lot of smile content here Danie... I smile quite a bit! You're a natural and I wish you continued success!! sidenote .... did you guys roadtrip to Toyota in a Freelander 2? I love those little nuggets in 2.2 diesel.
Congratulations!!! Love it! Wish we could get our hands on those here in Texas. In the past I have had to settle for petro 80 series and a 78' HJ45.....now a GX460. Maybe someday.........
@@DanieSimpson these things will fetch such a premium. At 80k they’re reasonable I think, but second hand being only 80 built. Will never be reasonable
@@MrJarmore yeah hard to say alot of limited edition old cars don't fetch as much as people think they do. And newer cars will require even more patience and maintenance to keep in good condition
i got a 2021 79 a few months back and the disappointment you feel when picking up a new 70 series does fade lol i could see you felt it too. put a few mods on it, it gets better. the wind noise however does not
You don’t know how lucky you are getting the 70th anniversary in the wagon with only 80 made. We put down 5 deposits with 5 different car yards in melb for the same as what you got and missed out only to be told they were going to demo them😔.
Hey Danie. I bought a 1HD-T, manual, 80 series, Daphne ( daughters named her after the angry duck on the bonnet), 9 years ago for $12,500. Last year I decided to rebuild her from the ground up, because I decided, if I did spend $67,500, I would have a better, more capable & more reliable car, than if I spent $80,000+ on a new computerised car, that I don't have a laptop to fix. I think that new 76 wagon has the same carpet as Daphne!
Yes that's why most of my cars are old school because you can spend the money on modifications instead. This vehicle is more suited to creating products of the newer market. As majority of people are buying new 4wds nowadays.
It's very similar price to alot of the other dual cab Ute's. Any new car is expensive but second hand prices of these are even more hectic. Yes the xy is a longer term project because it needs a full strip and repaint
A lot of the 70 series is used in africa. I've personally riden in one during my summer vacation for long road trips multiple times. Great experience coming from the v8!
Even though I know you both personally now listening to you and Freddy banter back and forth always makes me laugh haha especially when Freddy complains about something 😂
@@DanieSimpson Hahahahaha oooo I could imagine some of the colourful words Freddy said! Freddy talking shit about mars always makes me laugh because I know how much he loves him haha
Gday Danie, I’ve gotta say I prefer the ol’boy any day, I’m not a fan of any new vehicle with all the electronic shit, I’m sure you guys will do an awesome job on the cruiser, Cheers
Yeah I like the simple mechanical stuff far better. But always good to understand the future, experience it first hand to be sure I don't like it hahaa
Doesn't need anything replaced at all:) would happily drive this straight off the showroom floor and tour Australia in it. Not a single other vehicle made I Australia that I would feel comfortable doing that in
Currently asking near $120k for 70th Anniversary 70 series in Perth (That's 76 wagon or dual cab 79). If you bought yours for 80 you've done well as they will be collectible.
Even more reasons to watch now that you’ve got a 76 , definitely an acquired taste you have to really want to own one , need a few mods to get it less industrial but I love mine
Last outback trip was to the NT. Video is on my channel. We much prefer beach and river trips living where we are, gotta be beside water or your melting
Congrats on the 76!! If I may ask, how long did you wait from ordering? I'm in month 7 now of waiting for my VDJ76 and the end is not in sight yet..... still awaiting a confirmed production date. I know the wait will be worth it though!
Just called up looking for a dual cab and they had it in stock. This wasn't an order in vehicle they are limited editions that were allocated to dealers
Hi..I found you recently, and am impressed with how you work on trucks, etc, I know you have several social media accounts, and a moderate to healthy following, but seriously, how do you afford this life style? If you come from the land of plenty, that's great, and Im happy for you. Running 4x4 trucks around is expensive...parts, equipment, fuel, insurance. If you have a magic formula, even better. Can you enlighten me? If you would rather not, that's cool too. cheers
Thanks. Not sure what social media accounts or followers has to do with anything. But my lifestyle is certainly not lavish or expensive and I don't come from a family of money. I work multiple jobs and save my money to spend on the things I enjoy aka. 4wds. There is no magic formula or short cuts to working hard and saving.
@@DanieSimpson Thx for the speedy reply. It just struck me as if ..with the new truck, and the old truck, and the 60 series, that the money around there was flowing like water, and I guess I am a little jealous of what you are able to do. I'm an old cat now, with most of my years behind me, but am still dreaming of doing some 4x4 travel before it's over. Thanks for your candid reply, you are indeed the real McCoy . LOL..Take care..
@@JohnSmith-yc9qn yeah the 60 and the 75 are just cheap 4wds you can get them for under 10k. Helps if you can do alot of the work yourself. Definitely recommend getting out while you can there's so much of the world to see and explore
@@DanieSimpson Thx, I'm an old gearhead and do all my own work. I'm in Canada, and those rigs just don't exist here..Even if they did , they are super expensive here..Saw a 23 year old 80 series in Calgary going for over 30k. Great chatting with you ..it's 2am here..time to call it a day..BTW, you have a new fan...great stuff....cheers
Ive just bought a 2014 79 series… always wanted one so I’m giving it ago. I guess it’s easy to bash something if you haven’t owned one 🤷🏻♂️ Question - why the 76 and not a 79? *I like you’ve gone a different direction with a marketing rig and gone 76… loads of 79 builds online.
Yeah that's it hey now I can experience it first hand haha. We haven't installed our coil conversion into a wagon yet so will be a testing ground for that as well as a few other things
You claimed old boy rolled down hill with the wind blowing on his back at 140. I assume that is Kilometers. I agree with the little man, should have brought Mars with even though he is stanky. Stay safe and healthy.
@@DanieSimpson Yeah the Euro Ncap in europe year by year they are more restrictive , since you like jeeps , mines a Nissan Patrol 6 cilinder inline turbo from 1991 hardtop gray dark
I've a 60 series which i don't drive since buying a new Triton, do you think it is worth holding on to as an investment it's still in good nick body wise and motor and trans run excellent. Would like to her your thoughts since you are keen on them cheers love you channel keep up the great work,
Yes 100% if it isn't costing you much in upkeep hands down hold onto it. Can't really know what the economy is gonna do but people will always be chasing clean rust free 60s. I searched for 2 years for one
Cannot believe they left such a massive theft oversight on the door locks on both passenger and drivers door, in school I was shown how to pop the entire lock barrel out with half a tennis ball, I hope you put immobilizers through it
I can pop the lock barrel outta mine too doesn't mean you can enter or start the vehicle. Common cause of theft where I live is home break ins and they just take your keys. Hence why my vehicles have gps trackers which send notifications when the car moves etc
I just restored a '91 HZJ75W, replaced the tub as it had rusted out and did all the upholstery, rubber, mechanical and electrical work. Drives like a pig but will go anywhere and tow anything.
@@vtwindad1549 Toyota would have had alot of contracts from agricultural and mining sectors to kind of give them piece of mind for the future though. Would have been a gamble for Nissan
Man, for the prices of 76’s these days, you really don’t get too much stuff from factory. I heard they are really reliable but I’d hate to have an issue and be the one to pull it apart engine wise 😂 a lot of extra bits
I discuss this in the video towards the end. compared to what 70series cost 30yrs ago you actually get alot. These arent designed to have 'fancy features'.
Congrats.. I still prefer my 80 series thanks.. haha..... I wonder how long before some of the electric functions etc will fail.......... It will be interesting to see what you do with this... tyres, bullbar, wrap, etc.. orhh and thanks but no thanks you can keep it.. I don't like it.. haha ~;0)
@@DanieSimpson it shows your honesty and humour. you are not stuck up at all. now i hope you and your man are going to give it the beans and we can watch the fun.
Yeah it's bloody brilliant 👏 parts everywhere, I'm well skilled in how they work, where they fail and how to repair. I love it when places don't change every single thing each year. Makes getting parts a nightmare
@@messix7768 imported vehicles are a bit different yes and mods can be done pre rego also so that's another avenue for vehicles that haven't been registered in Australia before
