ya know what, at least you were willing to point out the blemishes, and say, "yeah I spent $15,000 on it, and it's not perfect, but you know what, I'm okay with that." 99% of reviewers would've just kept it to themselves, and talked about how perfect it was. great review
Lol...flipper forever...I think I remember you drooling over your VC and you dropped that one like a hot potato. 😆 🤣 😂 Hit me up when your ready to flip this one.
You openly admit to flipping watches on RU-vid and your Rolex AD will still sell you a Rolex? That's insane! I show up with cash in hand bringing food and wine to my AD for weeks and I still get laughed out of the store. Starting to get a bitter taste in my mouth over what Rolex is doing to the watch game. I can't get my hands on ANY male sized Rolex watches at retail. Enjoy it Bruce, some of us hurt when we see how beautiful that Sky Dweller is, congratulations.
I sell some of my watches yes, and I am honest with my AD. I don't flip the hard to come by watches that they sell me. Some watch guys scoff at this, but some watches are a privilege to be offered. I'm fortunate that the trust goes both ways for me. Are you in a really massive market? I know some markets are way easier than others. And some watches are impossible to get even for established customers without some waiting (panda daytona, john mayer, etc)
I own the blue one but you're spot on. For me I love this reference. The amount of technical innovation, style, durability, useability they squeezed into what is essentially a mass produced mechanical watch is just marvelous. Mine also will never be sold.
Ready for this? My Local AD Was Smash and Grabbed the Rolex Case Last October "All Expedition watches" . But the thieves Missed One Piece. They Literally left the Best for ME! 326934 Blue Sky Dweller AT RETAIL! The Only Draw Back? No Papers which means the 5 Year Warranty is through the Store.
@@BruceWilliams That sounds about right. Fluted bezel + jubilee = my grandpa’s watch... Really wish Rolex could do this complication in a differently styled watch, as it’s actually one of the few truly impressive things Rolex does.
I can tell you that after owning a Blue Steel Sky Dweller for three years; it’s a Datejust on an Oreo diet. This watch has a real identity crisis, and that is coming from someone with a large 7 1/4 in wrist. This is a big large blingy watch trying to be a dress watch which it is not. If you’re going to do this, bring the bling factor into it and order the Gold two-toned version with the Champaign dial. That is truly the ONLY way to do this watch justice.
I agree to a point having the short pleasure of owning (grey market) a blue one as well and essentially breaking even upon selling it. You are correct that it is in the "between" odd category, which makes them ever the more fun to wear. The blue one is too much and the black one is more approachable. It's certainly a statement piece. Wear yours well and enjoy.
Did you find the blemish under a magnifying glass or with the naked eye, my Milgauss seems perfect, but I haven’t looked at it under a magnifying glass
I think it is a very nice watch indeed. The sky dweller is loved and loathed in equal measure and intensity these days, exactly like the royal oak was back in the 1970s. I think the symmetry of the markers in the same size at all hours, the solutions they found to not have a visually busy dial or extra pushers, the system using the bezel, are very original ideas. It's the kind of product that people take time to understand the value of complexity, the elegance and refinement. As for the macro shots revealing some roughness, well, the retail price would be 25-30k to change that scenario, in my humble opinion. We don't have lupe eyes anyways. Great purchase, wear it in good health.
Wow awesome timepiece Bruce love it . Wear it great health u deserve the best. The crown has always been my favorite brand and will forever be . Hate the hype that people create around the brand but that does not diminished the quality , functionality and practicality of these watch . Again awesome purchases .
Bruce congratulations on your purchase I’m sure it’s a great watch - but I can’t help but come back to the VC you had - again and say I’m sorry in my humble opinion the VC made you look like a real watch enthusiast , it just oozed class and presence - the Rolex just makes you look like your dealing something illegal in poor company .
@@BruceWilliams I mean no disrespect Bruce big fan of your endless enthusiasm and channel but all I see with regards to Rolex now is an ad with groups of stores who treat people poorly , everyday people can’t wear them through fear of being robbed with every drug dealer and traveller walking round with them on .
@@markdance574 No disrespect taken at all Mark. I've only met a couple 'poor' ADs and neither of them carried Rolex. I'm treated with kindness and respect from most ADs, many of whom not knowing I run a RU-vid channel. Maybe I also live in a sheltered area, but I don't fear for my watches while I am out an about with them on. I also don't know any drug dealers lol
Good commentary, Bruce #BruceWilliams. 😎⌚👍 As you have finally acquired your Skydweller, I became the last person today to acquire a Milgauss ZBlue for this year and before it's new introductory price increments for 2022. Before I left with my new Milgauss, I have seen and tried on the exact Skydweller as yours and I must say that you have made the right decision on purchasing it. Congratulations, Bruce #BruceWilliams 😎⌚👍 Keep churning good contents as always, Bruce #BruceWilliams. Best regards, 😎⌚👍
few people talk about one important point of this watch is counterfeit this watch is most difficult compare to any other rolex ! Therefore u may see the reason why there are many other Rolex sell & resell without knowing it's real or mixing up with those superclone in the market .I guess if Rolex made 1million GMT ,there may be 2 million tading as real one ,just my cent .This watch amount others rolex should has much better resell & retain value being more resisitance to copy & that may be the reason so few of these clones on the market ,as a result looks like lesser in demand to the public as as well !
Skydweller is not everyone's cup of taste or tea ,maybe any innovative and intricately complicated watch is like that, though it will always be my favorite😎
Epic reference. I agree on the significance of this reference it’s truly unique. Little too large for me but you def do have the wrist for it. Enjoy in good health. I like the sales guy wearing the Pepsi! Ha!
Anyone who's read my comments know that I'm an unapologetic Rolex fan . I collect them , I wear most of them , so ya , I'm a fan !!! All I can say is that I get it . The excitement of looking at supreme competence in your craft is exciting as well as rewarding. Absolutely stunning peice bro . Enjoy
I guess I'm in the minority, but I really dislike the design of the circular reference time indicator--it throws off the entire design aesthetic. To each his/her own. Imo, the Globemaster annual calendar line is a much superior design for a fraction of the $.
Its a perfect travel or business watch for someone who deals with different time zones. I really enjoy the one I have. Sized just right Rolex nails proportions. Good luck, look out it may end up your favorite.
I really like the white-dial Sky Dweller but not sure how legible it is in person. It's too big for me; looking to get a white gold DD40 to match the platinum one my wife's brother has which fits me perfectly.
First, congratulations! Whoa! The Skydweller! You must include how you came to get this baby. Someone else pass on it? You got the call based on asking your ad? Also, let's consider Rolex as plural vs Rolexes. Like Guinness for instance. Ha! Sick watch man!
Thanks Jeremy! No, I just asked, and waited my turn :) Very fortunate! And yes, I frequently struggle with the plural of some words, like Lego, Oris, and Rolex haha
@@BruceWilliams Wow, that gives me hope on that OP for my stepfather. The plural as Rolexes comes up all over but being a bar guy I can't help but think of how Guinness is just Guinness and the potential for debate. Someone email Masso! Ha ha.. All the best. Wear in good health!
Not a fan of the Sky-dweller & not a patch on the Vacheron, but hey if we all liked the same things life would be boring. I would have bought a day date with President bracelet.
I think a gmt function is great and will be useful, but an annual calendar seems pointless to me! If you don’t wear your watch everyday you will have to set the date anyway!
Most complications are pretty pointless. Who cares if you know the phase of the moon, or which year out of 4 is a leap year? Or being about to reset a chronograph in mid sweep? The impressive part about complications is that they are possible in such a compact and beautiful package done entirely mechanically
Good point, but when you could have a nicer watch for the same money and not having a useless complication, then I think I’d opt for that, but I suppose each to their own! Thing is with some complications they can be a good conversation starter, but like you said most people know what month it is even if not the day.
Like you say, the annual calendar IS a little pointless if you rotate watches all the time but not all do that. Some might buy this as their main watch and then it’s quite a useful complication imo.
HAHA Hello grail. It looks insane on the jubilee, and will probably wear lighter than oyster (which is good on a 14mm thick watch). However, it should have a safety catch, it's unacceptable to me that it doesnt have it on a 20k+ watch!!!!
GORGEOUS I love it on the jubilee as I think it's adds to the fluted bezel imo...the only other skydweller that's maybe beats your 1 is the rose gold n chocolate but it's wayyyyyyy more expensive and suits a darker skin tone BUT HUUUUUUUUUGE HIGH5
Lovely acquisition Bruce. Love these and the datejusts, but I think the jubilee is the right choice. Great watch and it's nice to have a bit of bling !!! What's next the yachtmaster ?
Thanks Bruce. You made TWO uncommon and important general comments is this review! FIRST, “I have the frame” for this watch size. Nobody talks about body size and watch size, only wrist size! I am a big guy with small wrists and struggle with finding the bounds for watch sizes. SECOND, “nobody needs to look at their watch to know the month.” YES! How stupid are complete-calendar watches?!? I was in love with the JLC Master Control Calendar, until I realized how pointless the month display is, and making it feel way overpriced for the lack of real complication. THANK YOU.
Congratulations Bruce! A lovely watch to say the least. The way that Rolex integrated the bezel with the complications is very well executed. Maybe one day it will land on my watch list and some time after maybe end up on my wrist. Enjoy the watch Bruce, it would be a keeper in my collection if I owned one. I wish you and the family a great 2022.
Very nice, i hope you can do some close ups of the clasp when it's open to show the workmanship of it. Thanks for sharing and happy holidays to you too.
The light play with the case finishing and that bezel look fantastic! Also love the anthracite colour dial - so classy. I would be a little annoyed about the dial finishing to be honest. However as it’s probably not visible to the naked eye it’s not such an issue visually but more an irritation when you spend that much money.
Welcome to the sky-dweller world! I have the 2 tone/opalescent white dial version. A very practical every day watch. You just need to adjust one a year the date from Feb to March and then we switch from daylight time to standard time.😅😅😅
I got the oyster blue skyD man; and, believe me! the jubilee looks 100X better than the oyster. Bought the jubilee bracelet; and, they were the best 1700 bucks ever spent.
Would be great if you do a 1 year honest review of the watch. For some reason, I can't find a single video that gives a review after actually wearing the watch for an extended period of time. Did it live up to expectations?
How about the retro styled retro movement new release from Alpina, the Startimer Pilot Heritage Manufacture? Just because it’s different. It has the bumper movement which is a bit funky.
Ordered mine from local AD last September and got it in December. Exactly same as in your video with jubilee bracelet. I wear it daily and it is already showing wear signs. Fine by me! My favorite watch of all time. I will never sell it. My son will have it when I am tits up.
AWESOME Watch.. big congrats. wear it in good health. i was in love with the Blue dial for years. but recently i find the Black dial much nicer and classier than the Blue. also , i might be wrong. i think i'd get tired of the Blue after a while..
congrats on the watch. I do like it, and as you say, it will not fly under the radar. I think a non fluted bezel would have toned it down, and enabled you to wear it on less dressy straps, like possibly a NATO.
Great watch for a great family guy an respectable collector. Enjoy the watch and pass the watch down to the family. Will the Bruce W Tudor panda chono fill the itch or a hunt for the Daytona only work for you. Stay healthy and safe to you and family. Happy New Year to all.
I completely AGREED with you about keeping it for 20 or 30 years, HOWEVER, if you change your mind you know who to email first!! ☝️😁 Thanks for sharing this one Bruce! 👋
I was lucky enough in 2019 to be chosen to get the blue dial Skydweller, then on the oyster bracelet. Several months before getting it, I had asked for the black dial but while waiting I acquired a few more watches and almost all with black dials. So I asked to switch my preference to the blue. I absolutely love my blue dial SD but have never seen the black dial. Also, seeing the SD on a jubilee still looks a little strange to me since I'm so used to mine. Did you ask for the jubilee, or was that just how it was when it arrived? Happy New Year to you and your family as well as all of your followers.
@@BruceWilliams Will you have to 'trade-in' your jubilee when you get the oyster? Years ago I had a Sub with the older clasp and wanted to upgrade to the newer. I was told I'd have to give them the old one and pay full price for the new.
I have a sky dweller , polar dial,i think it the most special timepiece Rolex offers, the 9001 movement most special, my timepiece had no flaws, a perfect example. I❤ it.
What a watch Bruce, what a watch! I'm personally after rocking horse shit, sorry i mean the blue dial version, lol. Has the black lived up to your expectations?
Congrats to getting this watch. The showing of the month above the hour markers is simply genious. I like it with the black dial. It's a little to big for my wrist. But nice at yours.
Nice piece and i am happy for you but the excuse that its ok for the lack of perfection at that price is basically you convincing yourself that it ok! I can tell you have not seen many grand seiko under the macro… At the end of the day we like what we like and if you dont care in spending that money for that watch… more power to you.
Great piece Bruce, and like you said, buy what you like. Never buy a watch because how hard it is to get, or the value it will in the secondary market. Rolex is made to enjoy and wear the hell out of it and of course taken care of it at the same time. Congratulations on the pick up, happy holidays and happy new year, Jeff.
It’s mass produced with an insane amount of functionality, durability, and comfort. I’m okay with some blemishes that are only visible at a macro level lol congrats!
The Sky Dweller is a great watch, for every situation. Probably more so than any other Rolex. The complications are great. But my AD told me that you can't swap the bracelets around. So you may want to get it confirmed about buying the Oyster bracelet - I would get this in writing etc. As my AD said it cannot be done. I wanted to buy the Jubilee bracelet when it came out for the SkyDweller, and it was NO.
Glad you like it and you feel you can endorse everything it represents. To my eyes, that's the exact model to sum up everything I dislike but hey, that's your wrist!
@@BruceWilliams Good seeing you thrilled. We most definitly don't have the same definition of high horology but it's always good to witness the pure joy of somebody getting the watch he loves.
