he sure does!! You can tell he doesnt fuck around too. he was hella concentrated the whole time not engaging in the passengers talk/laughs until the call was over that is. This is exactly what i would expect from a man driving a tank down the road with a mission, not to mention not letting the fellow tax payers down

Carlos rosario not always valid, on one of my departments engines there are floor pedals for both on each side and on our quint the horn is on the dash with a switch

Carlos rosario It's not always that way. Some just have the air horn pedal on the LTS side. Others have just a button, and some only the engineer can use the q and the horn. Others have a string to sound the horn on both sides

I know in my department I’m not sure if it’s a law or for insurance reasons but civilians aren’t allowed in the apparatus while moving. I remember when I was just joining the fire department, they’d have me check pack and stuff but even when they had to move the truck to another side of the building or something they’d tell me to get out. Now the captain at that time was also a dick but yeah. Even when I was finally voted in I still had to ride with the chief to drills until I had my medical because if we got a call and something happened I wouldn’t be covered. So depends on where you live and who’s in charge of your department you might be able to get a ride along but during an actual call that’s highly unlikely.

Full face beards are not allowed in the UK. With positive pressure sets a seal doesn't matter as contaminants cannot enter the mask but without a seal air duration is reduced to leakage caused by a beard. You can have a moustache and you can have a goatee but a full face is a no-no.

@@lilcheif1133 I transferred out before my son joined my station as I just didn't want any form of conflict of interest as his watch commander. He had to work that station as he was a retained firefighter (since joined whole time) but I was a day crewing Sub Officer (now called Watch Manager and the equivalent of your Captain) and full time and could work any station. I decided I'd had enough of 48 hours full time plus 48 hours on call and went back to a simple 2-2-4 48 hour tour. I did wonder what it would be like to work with him but I don't regret the move.

how fast can you control it? though personally i think this was a tad fast for a ladder truck going to a brush fire, but I'm not the driver and ultimately its up to him.

My area only 10 over but our trucks are governed at 65. No ladder but our tankers are 2600 to 3200 gal.

+Benjamin Roth some schools have diesel pumps there for buses and they sometimes allow FD's to fill rigs with them, as the gas money paid goes towards the school.

Rich B it’s required so the departments don’t get yelled at for liabilities. My dad is a career firefighter. He also volunteers, and he’s never had an issue masking up with a beard.

Came here to say the same thing. You risk getting a good seal on your SCBA mask with facial hair. Thats FF 101.

On our engine, we have a momentary button for our Q siren with our emergency light switches and electronic siren.
