Great information about wheel weights and spacers . Thank you for sharing daughter and dad .

Thanks! I have to admit that I was way more interested in the results compared to my daughter!

I thought this was a fairly elegant experiment and appreciate your having done it.

I know this is considered old. But this is a very interesting concept. It would be interesting to reproduce this with a loaded bucket. It would also be informative to do the experiment with the bucket both loaded and unloaded while high and low. Nice job. And for those that do not understand this is directly related to tipping over on a slope go back to physics class.

Very interesting experiment and you put a lot of work into that with all the wheel changes. But I would say you got the most bang for the buck with the wheel spacers alone. But what I really found interestering was how truly easy it was to tip the tractor and what pull it took in the stock configuration to accomplish that. If you don't make any changes to your machine you have to be extremely careful raising that bucket and moving. Another great video and we all certainly benefitted from your experiment. Thank you!

+Lisa Johnson Thanks! It was not too bad. I had the idea to do the video when I ordered the spacers. So, since I knew I would be putting on, I went ahead and did the trails with wheel wts on, then with weights off (left off since I needed them off to take wheels off to put spacers on). Spacers came, I installed and got my trials with spacers on, then with weights on. They really have made a big difference.

Fill the bucket to capacity, raise it to the height you had when you tipped your tractor, and measure the rear tire elevation angle at tipping point.

+ya472 I think I'm going to pass on that test. Sounds like a repeat Tipover. Lol

You always need a ballast on the rear 3 point when working the fel.

I like this video. I have 2 inch spacers from Bro tek and have steel wheel weights on my BX. I know I definitely feel better when on a slope. It was kind of cool to see just how much of a difference they make. Thanks for taking the time to do this one.

Good video and work. Of course there are an infinite amount of scenarios that cannot be addressed but this provides a good idea of what each condition offers. I ordered spacers.

A very good comparison & analogy on "adapter kit" wheel track stance. Just wonder"why" the manufacturers don't (won't) supply with an option to BUY from them "wheel-spacers". I think most likely they will compromise the structural integrity of the Axle,and give the user a false sense of security, even though the logic presents itself. Of the 3 tractors in the "fleet" 2 have "factory equiped" offsetable-adjustable wheels. The other has "big-balloon " turf tires ( very wide set). Just don't like the idea of "slapping on" some after-market, none-approved- from the factory APPARATUS's. Just to gain capacity, is Always dangerous. Thanks for the great Video Sir and happy safe tractoring.

I resisted to add spacers at first but in all my time in forums, never heard of an actual issue. I also had a chance to ask Neil Messick if they have seen issues in the shop from wheel spacers and he said no. I think that was when he was on My Cluttered Garage.
@donaldstrishock3923

@@ODLife Neil would probably say "yea bring it in and we will fix that broken axle & aluminum transmission case for 3600.oo$, because it's NOT a Kubota part or do they recommend the use of these after-market contraptions "( if you live through it). Kubota & ALL others build & design there tractors to be used in safe limit within their Capacitys---- and DON'T stand behind any "after-market contraptions". This is WHY they manufacturer BIGGER Tractors. I say this harsly because of Two of my associate's losing their lives over a Tractor being Overestimated & Oveloaded .Thanks for the great Video Sir and happy safe tractoring .

Very nice O&D, I appreciate your dedication to gather all this data! Maybe for your next experiment you can rig a line to one hook on the bucket, then down to a sheave before it heads out to your scale/winch/anchor point. It would be interesting to see the effect of the spacers, weights, and maybe rear ballast has on one wheel raising up. Just about all of us have tried prying something up and raised a rear wheel right? LOL

I thought this was very good experiment, looked like a lot of work, lots of questions about spacer, ( 3" i know you said it enough times ) I was just wondering if you had a weight on the wheel weights please? I just picked up a pair of JD weights that fit perfectly and weigh in at just under 50Lb
@ODLife

Nice job on the video and testing. I have owned several Kubotas (at present a BX25D) After running it all of about 10 minutes I knew it was going to be easy to tip. I bought the Bro-tek spacers. I’ve considered the weights also but have wondered about the effects this extra inertia might have on the transmission. Any thoughts on this? Thanks!

I decided it's no worse than a heavy implement on the back. Have never seen an issue in the forums either.

That was a very cool video. Thanks for doing it, I bet it took some time to make. It would also be cool to see how a mid mount mower changes things. I was surprised how much the spacers helped. How wide are your spacers?
@ODLife
@ODLife 7 лет назад
+94BULLITT Thanks! I went with 3 inch spacers. It was not too bad, I got the initial condition 1 & 2 readings before I put the spacers on, then did conditions 3 & 4 the next weekend. We did make sure bucket was positioned the same and the anchor was same distance away.

Spacers are from Bro-tek. They are a little more expensive than what you can find on Ebay or Amazon but the piece of mind knowing I had the right product for my machine and wouldn't have any hiccups when it came time to install were worth it. You say "we"a lot, yet I never saw your child bring a part of the test and therefore likely learned nothing and really didn't care about what you did. It would have taught her much more of she was a post of the mechanics of this test and then worked out the math without dad.

This is totally irrelevant to how a tractor would flip over on a slope.

can you explain why? I can't understand why lowering the center of gravity and spacing out the wheels is irrelevant on slopes.
