On September 25, 2021, a new Russian vocal competition called the “ShowMaskGoOn!” premiered and As of 2023, she is now 20. For the new “ShowMaskGoOn” competition Diana’s performance was her cover of Elvis Presley’s classic, “Can't Help Falling In Love”. Diana has said she was unhappy with her lack of a higher vocal range, and that lack kept her out of the more prestigious Russian music academies, so along with her voice teacher she decided to concentrate extensively on improving and developing her upper vocal range. A female singers vocal range helps to determine and define her voice type. In 2017 when she was 13 years old, Diana’s vocal range was first measured and her range was measured from a low of D3 (lower alto range) to a high of A5 (upper alto range), which was unusually low for a 13 year old girl. During this “Can’t Help Falling In Love” performance, her vocal range was again measured and Diana’s functional vocal range now goes from a low of C3 (male Tenor range) to a high of B♭5, (female Mezzo Soprano range). One of the most commonly asked questions regarding Diana’s unique voice is, how does she do it? How does such a young female singer achieve such a low, rich, deep, profound, and resonant sound? Without actually scoping her vocal tract while she is producing those low notes to physically see what is happening within her vocal tract, the general conciseness of many vocal professionals is simply attributing Diana's ability to her winning the genetic lottery. Diana was just born with her unique vocal anatomy. Diana's vocal folds (vocal cords) appear to be longer and thicker than the vast majority of female singers. Her larynx, (voice box), likewise appears to be larger and similarly her pharynx, (throat), also appears to be longer than the vast majority of female singers, plus she has a large oral cavity (mouth). It’s this combination of unique vocal anatomical structure that appears to give Diana Ankudinova the ability to produce the low, deep, rich, and full sounds she is known for, but without actually scoping her vocal track to verify, there is no way to be 100% sure. For the new “ShowMaskGoOn!” competition, one of Diana’s performances was her cover of Elvis Presley’s classic, “Can't Help Falling In Love”. She showed what many vocal professionals have been saying since Diana was 14, based on Diana’s previous vocal competition’s, and concerts, she has now developed into what many believed she always was, a true contralto voice type, and for those that don’t know what a contralto voice type is, a contralto is the lowest, and deepest type of female voice, and a true contralto is very, very rare. Just to be clear, there are 3 recognized Contralto voice types: a) Coloratura: The coloratura contralto contralto has a light, agile voice ranging very high for the classification and atypically maintains extensive coloratura and high sustaining notes, specializing in florid passages and leaps. b) Lyric: The lyric contralto voice is lighter than a dramatic contralto but not capable of the ornamentation and leaps of a coloratura contralto. This class of contralto, lighter in timbre than the others. c) Dramatic: The dramatic contralto is the deepest, darkest, and heaviest contralto voice, usually having a heavier tone and more power than the others. Singers in this classification are very rare. During the opening of “Can’t Help Falling In Love” Diana’s low Contralto voice is on full display. The improvement to her upper range is also on display during the middle portion of this performance. Finally, the depth and power of Diana’s voice during the final section define her as not just a Contralto, but as a “Dramatic Contralto” voice type, and a Dramatic Contralto has the lowest, deepest, darkest, richest sound and it is the most powerful of the contralto voice types and is the rarest of the very rare Contralto voice types. At the end of this performance, the full power of her Dramatic Contralto voice is on full display for everyone to hear. It’s not just how low she can go. It’s in the exceptional quality of her tone in her upper range but especially in her lower range that makes her so very special. It's in the roundness, fullness, and depth of her sound, along with her ability to create, access, and use an enormous amount of resonance. Diana has also a mastered a vocal technique known as polyphonic singing. Having mastered the polyphonic singing, gives Diana the ability to create 1, and up to 2 different tones at the same time which adds to the harmonic overtones and can sound an octave, or an octave and a half above. It’s this polyphonic singing ability that can make it sound like more than one person singing which is why sometimes people mistakenly believe Diana Ankudinova is using some form of artificial voice manipulation like Auto Tune, or she is using pitch correction software to alter or adjust her sound. Others believe another person is singing off stage in the background. Diana has been accused of lip-syncing over a previously recorded vocal track that was altered or modified. There is NO artificial manipulation of Diana's voice at all, and no one else is singing off stage, nor is she lip-syncing to a vocal track. What you are hearing in the background is a backing for the track musical score, along with a choir also on a backing tracks that’s used to fill in and round out the performance. Diana Ankudinova, and only Diana Ankudinova is actually singing Can't Help Falling In Love. Now, during the “ShowMaskGoOn!” there was a total of 9 competitors, Diana was competing against 8 other professional singers, Diana being the 9th and last competitor. Diana and the other singer's also doubled as judges for this competition which was televised over nine weeks, one singer per week for the entirety of the 9 weeks. Diana and the other professional singers/judges were competing against each other, and based on their individual performances they awarded judging points to each other. Each week a different singer took center stage and performed a different song over each of the nine weeks using a different genre of music, and a different style for each song performed. The ShowMaskGoOn! concluded on November 20, 2021, and during Diana’s “Can’t Help Falling In Love” performance, the judge on the top row who was the first to stand is a well known Russian opera tenor, Yusif Eyvazov from Azerbaijan. He was invited to participate as a special guest judge for this inaugural competition. At the end of Diana's performance she receives a standing ovation from all her fellow competitors. One of those competitors is also a well-known contemporary Russian singer, Julia Parshuta. Julia is in the center row dressed in in red, and looks totally lost at the end of Diana's performance. She puts both hands on top of her head, and looks totally shocked, lost and bewildered. Finally, The Show Must Go On competition concluded with Diana Ankudinova being awarded the most judging points over the total of 9 weeks, and was declared the competition winner!

4:45 At live concerts, even without music, when Diana sings, Diana also has the effect of a duplicate voice and the audience in the hall hears it. This is her natural ability for polyphony.

Diana gave nine performances on the 2021 9-episode TV contest "ShowMaskGoOn," which she won. This was the first of them. She was 18. With one exception, the judges you referred to were the other contestants on the show, all of them professional singers. The format was for the contestants to judge, and award scores to, the performances of the other contestants. The exception was the bearded guy who first stood up, and had difficulty containing himself. He was a "guest" judge (in each episode there was one such). His name is, Yusif Eyvazov, an operatic tenor of international re-known who is married to Anna Netrebko, one of the greatest operatic sopranos around. His opinion carries real weight, and it is clear from what he said after Diana's performance that he was stunned and overwhelmed by her brilliance. The other eight performances that she gave on the show are in several quite different genres. All are superb, and together they manifest her extraordinary versatility. The two stand-outs are "Oh, it is not yet evening" - a Russian folk song that she sings with overwhelming passion - and, her own personal favourite, "Crow" - a very remarkable cover of a sophisticated Russian pop/rock song. The former is posted on her own channel, with English subtitles. The latter is posted on the channel "Weit Media," sadly without them.

И требовалось, воплощая свои идеи в окончательную версию, извлечь из этого артиста максимум того, что в данный момент возможно - в вокальном, эмоциональном, энергетическом смысле. Им и Диане Анкудиновой это сделать удалось. Предварительно запланированный успех превзошёл все ожидания - и эту кавер-версию будут слушать ещё очень долго. Ещё один убедительный пример подобной работы мы увидели недавно на шоу Циммера. Создатели этого шоу не случайно выбрали Диану Анкудинову для нового воплощения очень сложного номера из фильма "Дюна". Такое удачное сочетание уникального голоса, мощной энергетики, артистизма и яркой, очень выразительной внешности встречается редко. Но ещё реже встречается умение артиста работать с совершенно незнакомым, необычным, сложнейшим материалом - за который многие серьёзные артисты браться просто бы не решились. Диана Анкудинова и на этот раз сделала то, что от неё ожидали создатели шоу, удачно воплотив идеи знаменитого композитора в новые формы - теперь уже прочно окрашеные в её собственные цвета. И сделала явно больше того, чего могли бы ожидать многие наблюдатели в России от 20-ти летнего артиста...

Здесь конечно присутствует реверберация для эффекта пространственной глубины и ширины и улучшения качества звука, но не более, в остальном никаких компьютерных манипуляций с голосом Дианы не происходит. Она сама авто настройка и сама себе звукооператор. Ты не первый кто попадается на эффект этого невероятного голоса😊

The timbre of her voice is such that she often sounds like an additional instrument. As such, the other instruments, usually strings or, in this case, synthesizers, can sound like backing vocals. She has used them, yes, but perhaps not in this song. The debate will not be settled by people who have no access to the original recordings. Many professional music artists disagree about how to describe polyphonic voices, too. Best way to understand the idea is to watch a studio recording using a voice telemeter that shows every frequency of sound as it occurs. Ankudinova has done this more than once. The meter's response is eye opening. Thanks for your reaction. And you got the pronunciation right, too. Few people do. 👍

Here are three reasons why Diana (the Queen of Goosebumps) doesn't sound human. First, she is a contralto, which is the absolute rarest type of female voice. It allows her to sing very dramatic/powerful, very (I mean VERY) deep, very dark, very rich. Second, she has a spectacular larynx. She's been called the vocal Eighth Wonder of the World. Third, she is polyphonic, which means she can produce multiple harmonics within her voice at the same time. This is what allows her to sound like two people at once. (more below) When you add all that up you basically get a person who creates her own auto-tune. She doesn't need electronic auto-tune. She IS her own auto-tune. And the effect when you hear her is totally mind-blowing. It's like she's singing right through you, like a sword straight into your soul. Literally NOBODY else on the planet has a voice like hers. She's not one in a million, she's one in eight billion. Having watched well over 100 initial reactions to her, only one did NOT say she was "unique".

Смысл конкурса в том, что все выступающие певцы в процессе конкурса дают оценку друг другу.То есть там все петь умеют и понимают что к чему.Такая фишка вот.А вот Диане не нужно обрабатывать голос. (не знаю есть ли синтезаторы которые могут такое сделать.-шутка юмора). И тут еще вопрос не в диапазоне и октавах. А просто у Дианы получается эмоции смешивать с голосом.В смысле это не бравирование или давление голосом (ну как у Байрона или планта (уважаю их). Тут имеет место быть пение,когда у тебя внутри что-то происходит. Это может откуда-то сверху. Ну послушав раз-другой возникает зависимость.А материала у Дианы много. (кстати чтобы совсем отлететь-Ханс Циммер.Концерт в Санкт Петербурге. Музыка из Дюны).Но всего много очень много. И все - улет!
