@@Its-me.. the struggle of driving across the continent and charging your beast. I have electric car and absolutely love it. But it’s a nightmare making sure you can find chargers. When he said you are brave , he meant the journeys are a challenge. I agree.

Fantastic review- exceptionally impartial and unbiased. Have watched some reviews from Tesla "fan boys" which are sickeningly biased. This is factual, formative and to the point. Let whatever person drive what he/she wants, but if you're a car reviewer, at least try to balanced/impartial. If people want to stay with Tesla, so be it. I'll be switching from an ICE BMW to Seal Performance and couldn't be happier.

It beats the Tesla in comfort, noise insulation. So its more about what you value with a car. Id pick the Seal especially since I mostly charge at home anyway. @@nickbrooker1411

Good performance stats and great review. My BYD dolphin has been timed at 6.4 0-60(on board launch) with replacement hankook tyres in 5 degree weather. It's the high torque specs that BYD knock out!! Much prefer mine over my old cupra born, Niro and mg4.

Thanks for the review. We already have an Atto 3 and I’m looking for a replacement to my Tesla MY written off in an accident in October. I am seriously considering the Seal the only thing holding me back is that it’s a sedan. Otherwise, a fabulous car I’m sure.

Thanks for this video. It helped me in my decision to buy the BYD Seal. We prefer it to the Model 3. Best of all, after what he did to Twitter, we don’t have to buy a car that comes from Elon Musk :) Very impressed with the quality of this car and the range. Driving experience is excellent and the heads up display is excellent. Anyone criticising the quality of the car in the comments have likely not driven it.

A little with the wiper, but the same could be said about the vast majority of its competitors. Boot latch is the about the same as the Tesla. Not ideal, but not a deal breaker, unless you have pets.

It seems to be 11kW in some markets and 7kW in others (including Australia). The discrepancy is a bit strange.

Apparently BYD will move to a CATL LMFP battery for the Seal where range will improve again by 20% getting to 600 to 700km

Drove tesla long range and byd performance back to back. Tesla driving experience from 1 pedal driving to how smooth it was far better than the seal in my eyes.

@TotallyEV I found the 2024 Tesla suspension fine it felt plush to me, although i had me and 2 kids in the vehicle. Same as the BYD, it was great too.

@freakybeast5068 really can't say that's been my experience, although, which Seal did you drive? AWD or RWD? The AWD as mentioned in the review is superior, and when compared to the M3, it's a night and day difference. What gets me in the M3 is the rebound, you can hear and even feel it on uneven roads.

I drove both awd and rwd. I actually wasn't that impressed with either BYD after driving the Tesla. Nothing really stood out. BYD felt like I was just back driving my Kia Cerato be honest. It's nice to drive don't get me wrong but nothing stands out. If it had 1 pedal driving it would have been better.

Model 3 rwd is 40k where byd 45.6k and out of the box tesla has more things as standard. Stalkless talk will come but drive it for a month and it will be a second nature. New comfortable ride, design, quality matarial, led interior lights, back seat screen, cool and ventilated seats are cool upgrade. And FYI new rwd model y from Germany can charge 10-80 in 20 mins vs 30 min previously

Stay tuned for the Highland review going live next week. As for the base M3 Vs Base Seal, disagreed. The Seal offers just as much of a compelling package, but more importantly far superior range, estimated 300-320 Vs the M3 that'll struggle to get 260.

@@TotallyEV629 km wltp vs 520 km AWD range. Lets range test Model 3 LR vs BYD seal AWD. Which is more efficient. Watch What car's latest video and Bjorn Nayland video range test "BYD go home, shieeet" lol. BYD is a great company don't get me wrong but they lack Tesla efficiency. They are just one gen behind with battery efficiency and software but better than other OEM.

@@TotallyEV Just watch "what car" channel latest video about BYD seal vs Model 3 vs ID 7. They are also realistic reviewers like you. They were very critical about Tesla in every review. But real world range and efficiency is no match for BYD seal 3.1 miles/kwh (82 kwh battery) vs model 3 3.7 miles/kwh (78 kwh). This is a fact. You can get more range from bigger batteries like 100kwh ID 7 but at 2.7 miles/kwh it will cost you more in the same distance (can't beat the other two with a larger battery lol). And everybody is entitled to their own opinion but you cannot ignore the fact that Tesla is the efficiency leader. Tesla has more cargo capacity (561 L + 88 L frunk) vs BYD seal (400 L + 50 L frunk). And I'm not a fanboy just ev enthusias and Ev nerd. Give a better value for money 40k ev car! You cannot just beat efficiency, charging, pricing, range, cost, performance, software, basic autopilot (free), safest car after model y, cargo space, no piano black plastic(poke to BYD lol) period.

I completely agree with @freakybeast5068. I have been driving the BYD Seal AWD for a day and compared to the new Tesla Highland the BYD Seal seems a bit old school. The driving and steering is much less agile, firm and direct than the Tesla Highland. The user friendliness and functionality of the BYD Seal software is min. a generation older than the Tesla and it's evident that parts of the software is still in the making (in Denmark i will have to add). Finally if you spend much time on the road you will notice the difference between DC charging which is 150kW vs 250kw at the Tesla which equals to much additional time at the charge stations. Actually its a bid sad because many of the components in the Seal is of a very high standard but the overall feeling is only so and so.

I would agree with all of this. The Tesla is better in every way except for the silly decision to remove the stalks and I think the real world range of the BYD is slightly better although it's less efficient and charges slower as you pointed out

@@TotallyEV I agree with @kim - I’ve test driven the Tesla model 3 twice and I’ve also test driven the BYD. When I got into the BYD, it was very comfortable, very well built. But it didn’t feel like I was driving an electric car. The software was terrible and buggy - for example, when you turn some safety features off, and you restart the car, the features come back on. Navigation is terrible as the directions are on the lower right hand when in landscape mode so your hand covers the directions. In the Tesla, it felt like a complete EV. And for you to compare the deal to a BMW / Porsche is interesting. Just remember, the RWD and the performance have an 82kw battery, so yes it will have more range but the Tesla is more efficient. I felt like the Tesla was more quiet than the Seal, the no stalks took me 1 hour to get used to and had no issues.

@TotallyEV definitely not a tesla fanboi. I'm buying the seal! Having test driven both. The model 3 is a way more engaging car to drive. Drive. To live with the seal with its conventional switch gear, android auto and in Australia $12,000 cheaper starting price for the base model is an appealing prospect. Which is why I'm going with the seal. But don't kid yourself, the model 3 is more advanced in its engineering.

You are confusing steering de-multiplication with steering feedback. The TM3 is indeed more direct (a higher de-multiplication ratio) than the BYD Seal. However, the BYD Seal has more steering feedback than the TM3 (although not by much). Steering directness is something that even non professional drivers feel instantly (for example during a short test ride). Steering feedback however is something most non professional drivers don't notice during a short test drive. There are exceptions to the latter of course, like the Alfa Giulia, a car with noticeable high steering wheel feedback, so much feedback that even non professional drivers can notice during a short test drive.

Why would anyone spend that sort of money to go 270 to 290 miles and then have to spend hours charging it. I can do 580 miles in my diesel in one go if I wanted too. And you are not testing it with four up with a headwind on a motorway. Will be down to more like 170 miles.

Charging socket location is on the wrong side for RHD market. It will make road side charging a real pain.

@@TotallyEV In London and other major cities a lot of the chargers are at roadside. You can only park parallel to the pavement to charge and often the streets are one-way so having your charger port on the traffic side is not ideal. Additionally, some fast chargers can be backed into but it’s controversial as it may involve occupying two bays - for example Tesla superchargers where the cable is too short to reach around the car.

There is indeed something to say for this. A simple solution would be to have charging ports on both sides (like the Audi e-tron has).
