Watch Byomkesh Bakshi's fifth episode 'Wasiyat'. Byomkesh Bakshi is a fictional detective in Bengali literature created by Sharadindu Bandyopadhyay. He is one of the most successful and popular characters in Bengali literature.
Doordarshan now brings to you the entire series of this literary classic which was televised back in 1993 directed by the brilliant Basu Chatterjee. Actor Rajit Kapur played the role of Byomkesh Bakshi, for which he was highly praised. Ajit was played by K.K. Raina and Satyaboti was played by Sukanya Kulkarni who was the first actress to play the character.

All right, so you like it very much and elect to be judgemental about it. Why make it a life and death proposition? The theme music for Karamchand, James Bond, etc. is far better. We only hear an electronic instrument in the 'music' of this serial. Not much. The tune is good, no doubt. But BEST? You really need to expand.

When watching back in 93 it was the most sensational detective series. After watching the series again in 2018 , think so many errors and poor execution in logic. Not properly adopted from written novels. Or may be not proper execution of written stuff by Sharadindu Bandyopadhyay. Think "Feluda( Pradosh C Mitra)" by Satyajit Ray comes closer to Arthur Conan Doyle; as Byomkesh and Feluda both are inspired by Sherlock.

@@bdr22 "Karamchand" was also good back in 1990s. Pankaj Kapoor did a good job of playing an eccentric and somewhat funny detective. The chemistry between him and 'Kitty' was so pretty. I can still hear him say "Shut up, Kitty !" BTW ACD's Holmes has no parallel. Our producers should depend upon their original creativity and imaginative prowess. Film 'Bees Saal Baad' by Biren Naug back in 1962 (introducing Biswajeet) was a remarkable and good adaptation of ACD's 'Hound of the Baskerville', though.

I would like to mention about the book ( that is shown in the episode) that it isn't gray's anatomy but Guyton and Hall's Medical physiology. BB reads about Primary aldosteronism and adrenal medulla which is definitely and totally different from Medulla oblongata as the story wants. I think the research of the creators in this context went off track. But still a masterpiece indeed.

they started this show on 1993. and real Byomkesh Bakshi story start on 1931. so before comment please remember the India situation on that time. we cant guess any mistake on this series.
