Thank you. While I consider myself fairly flexible in most aspects of life, when software companies make little UI tweaks causing you to have to re-learn something that is almost permanently muscle memory... I search RU-vid for people exactly like you. Not all heroes wear capes... but some wear Hot Tuna T-shirts LOL. Thank you! (liked and subscribed)
@@paphitisn I have a love-hate relationship with tech., in all it's forms, but especially with the Call of Duty franchise. MW (2019) for PC was, in my opinion, one of the best "feeling" CoD's to date; however, with the inception of Warzone, microtransactions, and the ultimate exploitability of the game and net code, cheaters became rampant, to where the game wasn't fun anymore. The game mechanics never felt the same as MW (2019) on any subsequent release of the game. Neither MW2(2022), nor MW3 (2023-present) are "cyber secure". Despite the introduction of the in-house "Ricochet" anti-cheating & reporting system, the game is filled with suspect players, mechanics that feel completely alien now. I digress.... maybe I'll start a channel about all the "things" that should "be" (but aren't). 😅
the "show more options" was the most unaware, unwanted garbage downgrade done to windows EVER. windows 11 aside from being shitty adware, spyware and bloatware, it's the shittiest window by far in every aspect, even visually
@@paphitisn oh yeah 😆, my experience with windows starts from 7 and vista, all the way to 11, and in my opinion even vista or 8.1 were a hundredfold better than 11, simply because atleast neither of them had blatant spyware or adware on them, vista had bloat but atleast the UI was pretty, 8.1 is just a worse windows 10, and windows 11 is just a horrible windows 8.1 overbloat shitshow
@@paphitisn Millennium was terrible. I won't argue against that. But for me, Windows Vista, provided you used the 64bit version, was not as bad as many people made it out to be. Not as good as XP 32bit (even if it was long in the tooth), but was a lot better than XP 64bit. It still had it's rage inducing moments, but overall, it wasn't that bad. Windows 8 on the other hand. I hated that OS with a seething passion. That OS can burn in hell for all eternity. I'll never touch it again if I can help it. As far as 11... I'm still trying to figure out why we "need" this. I don't like the new two tier context menus...Why did we need to add an extra click? And I hate the start menu. This is such a huge step backwards from Windows 10. It's unusable! I want the tile system back that allowed me to add and group my most used apps by category. That was the easiest, user friendly and most productive taskbar they've ever made and I loved it. It was the first one I thought was finally good enough to replace the old tried and true Win7 and XP era taskbars. And for me, that's really saying something considering how much I despised the tile system in 8. Windows 10 was where they finally found a good practical use for app tiles. Windows 11's taskbar is the worst taskbar since Windows 8. It's not as bad as 8's was. They managed to dodge that bullet. But it's still really horrible. And would you please stop gutting my control panel for the love of all that's holy.
At last I could disable this annoying option. They should fire the guy who did this, so much time wasted with that new st*pid context menu. Thank you again!!
Você é um herói! Muito obrigado, isso é irritante e chato, eles estão tratando os usuários como seres absolutamente estúpidos, é insultante. Vou implementar já em casa.
Pqp nessa Microsoft vei. Já tem anos que sou usuário Linux, como sistema principal, mas toda vez que tenho que usar essa merda, passo raiva! Felizmente, vídeos como esse ajudam. Eu não sei quem teve essa "brilhante" ideia de tornar a vida menos prática
THANK YOU, Nicos! Your explanation was easy to understand and your providing info about what was actually being done by entering the code was very informative.
YO this works - THANK YOU (omg I hate that Win11 menu so much). Added tip - if you know what you're doing and prefer to not need a reboot you can use Task Manager, right click "Windows Explorer" and select "Restart" and your registry settings will take effect immediately.
Wow! This is huge! Thanks a ton! This is one of the worst things Microsoft has ever done. I knew about holding shift but after 20--25 years of not having to no way could I get into that habit and we shouldn't have to! Add 11 to high on the list of bad Windows editions along with ME, Vista and 8! Thanks again-this is GENIUS!
@@paphitisn yes BUT-there's no reason they had to change this. Why make things harder that have been the same since PCs existed?! This is really a fantastic workaround-I'm already enjoying it. Thanks again
@@MarkAStuart i am glad to hear it. My Only issue is that since i applied this on my computer i find it hard to work on other devices as i for get about this stupid change in the context menu.
I am glad the Shift key solution works. As for the Reg key it seems to be working for some and not for others. Have not had time to look an see if Windows updates has effected this key.
Thank you so much, and i really do appreciate that you showed what it actually changes, that is so rare with these kinds of tutorials, so a huge thanks for that to.
i am glad you found it useful. I try to give as much detail as possible in my tutorials as i to find it frustrating when others assume i know something or think that something is common knowledge. Some find it frustrating that i go in to all the detail in a tutorial but for me a tutorial should be educational and not just giving a solution. Thank you for your comment.
Thank you very much. Now I feel like a total hacker. Worked. I have a feeling that computer programmers take full advantage of the potential of the right click
Microsoft and other big tech companies suck so much! They always implement new "features" that make work more difficult with additional steps required (this new right click "more options" case-in-point). And they always push their software on you as much as possible. Examples: google assistant (terrible feature forced on all androids and highly invasive!), the new microsoft teams opens up links in chats with edge browser by default. The list could go on and on.
Thanks a bunch! It seems opening Task Manager and forcing Windows Explorer to restart after running the command also works. No need for a full computer restart (though it is probably better practice...)
You are a lifesaver! Thanks! A very weird and annoying idea MS got by adding a layer on the Win10 right-click menu and let us believe that Winn11 is bringing something new and is user-friendly.
@@paphitisnyea I didnt know I needed to reboot for it to apply according to what you said in the video, this comment helped me I forgot registrys require a reboot to apply, either way great tutorial besides that minor hiccup
I agree, i use this method also. It is a sense of satisfaction forcing the full context menu to appear. Also it works on all devices so you are used to pressing the shift.
Hello, I tried to reverse back to standard with "show more options", but the command doesn't work. I am getting this error: "ERROR: Invalid syntax. Type "REG DELETE /?" for usage." Also, I tried manually deleating folder {86ca1aa0-34aa-4e8b-a509-50c905bae2a2}, but I always get error: "Cannot delete: {86ca1aa0-34aa-4e8b-a509-50c905bae2a2}: Error while deleating"
Thank you so much! I've been using Windows 11 for one year now and didn't know about this fix. I can finally use the regular right click menu now instead of the useless one 😁🖥🖱
