I just finished watching the entire series for the 7th time since November yesterday. I notice something new almost every time! I was only 10 when the show started, so the jokes were over my head too… getting jokes with a different meaning is one of the greatest things in growing up! 😂

It seems Niles always had his eye on CC but she had her eye on Max, so Niles just did what he could with humor to keep her engaged with him in some kind of dialogue anyway. Such an excellent show but I repeat myself.

I agree. The writers made CC the butt of too many of Niles' nasty comments; and so many of his comments have aged terribly.

It was probably to make the show funnier. Also it might have been to make the point that he would only open up if his kids were prioritized rather than if the woman matched his late wife's physical type.

I assume Mr. Sheffield knows her personality makes her a better business partner than a romantic interest. Part of the tension in regard to Fran was that he had never gotten over his (first) wife. I think that makes his character more romantic.
