Fun fact : Tiberian sun Had deployable juggernaut and artillery that could be used for base defence which was auto fire if you didnt attack enemy units or buildings
@@Lt.VictorPersonally I always believed they should've had this ability, it made sense. But I also had doubts about balance, if they prove to be too oppressive a slight price increase will do it justice Spectres were always so clunky and sh*t.. with this they actually become good.
firehawkph4ntom (fellow modder) has hooked me up wiith the code to make it an ability in the future. Now I want to see if it is oppressive or not. If it is, it can be compensated for.
actually the artillery in TS was quite powerful, and was needed because balance generally favored GDI in that game. In Firestorm, they nerfed the artillery and then balance was very skewed toward GDI. Balance in current KW R20 patch is skewed in favor of GDI, especially with respect to artillery (though the artillery problem itself was thanks to EA patch 1.02 massively buffing juggernauts). The specters have needed a buff for a long time.@@Lt.Victor
That second match it was rather obvious that Senna had an insane eco advantage. He got all the spikes and an entire additional field while also sending his harvesters to even your expansions.
This actually works with jugs too. It looks like a hidden feature or something that developers intentionally coded. Doesn't look like a bug to me anymore...
You sure thats not a feature of the main DLL? Doesn't have to be script level. Might be something the devs left in, but didn't talk about to give them the edge online.
The second game was surprising. In retrospect, it may have gone better if you had just destroyed the spike he stole from you and if you had used the specters to destroy some of his base. The redeemer also never got an engineer. Awesome discovery of the specter deployment by the way. Makes them actually worth building, since otherwise they usually underperform woefully except in niche situations.
Does NOT work for me. I have Kanes Wrath add on DvD installed over standard CNC3 DVD, normal PC standalone config. I tried holding donwn CTRL and triple pressing right button, and other combinations, but all it ever does is attack ground like a normal CTRL+right button attack ground. I also tried putting the Specters in hold fire and hold ground etc, no difference. Maybe this is only on the Steam install?
Interesting idea, definitely a quality of life improvement. My only opposition to the idea is that itd remove the extra micro needed currently, which might lower the skill ceiling.
@@masterleafcnc It makes sense, because if you, as a Commander, order the engineer to capture the Tiberium Spike you already know is on the map, you want him to CAPTURE it, not to stand around there until he gets killed. Actually, it concerns all infantry that can take the buildings. Micro controlling still be needed if there is any threat spotted along the way, but this feature will make the game more modern and user friendly.
One issue i can see with this in kw is that you will see who has the spike captured all game, it wont hide the player control, which is quite an undesirable side effect.
Looks a bit OP with the current power of Specters. Since you're giving them a ton of utility and useability maybe you need to do something as dramatic as changing them to rocket or grenade damage.
specters are not OP. On the other hand, juggernauts have been OP ever since EA increased their rate of fire frequency from 5s to 3s and doubled their turret turn rate. Specters were not given such improvement and therefore have lagged behind very significantly (especially with their low health and very long deploy/undeploy time). I have advocated for a long time that specters need to be improved. This excellent discovery by Leaf helps, and should be a feature. I think their rate of fire should also be improved to bring it on par with the juggs and behemoths.
along with "force deploy" it would also be nice to be able to force toggle should specter fire at will at anything it sees while force deployed, or should it lie stealthed waiting in ambush despite seeing enemies in its radius.
I think spectre not deploying in guard mode is a game design by choose till remember tiberium sum artillary once deployed it made defensive torrents absolute. The crater it created with pin point artillary strikes. this was debuffed in fire strom and it accuracy was hugely reduced. the spectres in kaths wrath are just tiberium sun fire storm artillary.
What's the use of Seekers besides scouting and stealth detection? Whenever I see someone uses Seekers as a main force in the army, they fail. I know there are Seeker rushes but in the videos they have very limited success. Maybe buff Seekers in the next patch?
I never understood why gun walkers are AA (It looks goofy imo), they're pretty insane against infantry enough for their value and then seekers would be the AA scrin unit. Plus you make them be a plasma weapon like gun walkers and shock troopers that upgrades into the AA plasma disks with nerve centers for a extra mechanic perhaps.
@@masterleafcnc and what about the three click techniques? I thought you just click 3 times on where you want the specters to move but you pressed control key and clicked three times on the ground nearby if I'm not mistaken. Or did I get it all wrong? Cause it is a really cool feature and I want to learn it.
I use macro for queuing units as well, saves time in heat of things. Macros are fine in these games if you find a use for it. Of course you can do this Specter thing manually, but its not consistent and for the purpose of testing it - not ideal.
Yes as they aren't normally that impactful or useful in this game. Its not like an fps or moba. What you can do with them is very niche here, with this being one of the only examples (a relatively new find of mine)
This is what happens when you have someone like me who wants to find some new strat every 5 minutes. I've never had the privilege to test a feature before I actually implement it via an ability, saves me a lot of work. The video coming after this also another discovery I've made recently.
Can't be original all the time. You could focus for a few months on competitive scene. Beat bikerush in a championship. Then come back to modding and rig shenanigans. Missing the bike vs leaf since forever
ngl I'd be a bit salty if I was playing this guy and found out after he was using macros... it's like using cronus in a shooter. You're improving your play with an ability the other person can't get from inside the game. That's cheating by any definition, right?
Well I'm not really a competitive player, I just play for fun and try to discover new things in the game. This in itself is a skill after 15 years. As you see, it's quite a popular video relative to my other ones.
@@masterleafcnc don't mistake me, you've done great things for tiberium wars and I really like watching your videos. You're the best caster for it by far in my opinion. I use your mods even. However, those things being true does not make it untrue that using macros is either right on the edge of cheating or is just cheating, regardless of intent. Do you ask your opponents if they mind you using macros before the game? I wonder how many would say "don't use macros please." idk man, respectfully, you use software from outside the game to give yourself an advantage. You tell me what you'd call that?
I'm not really seeking to win my games, for that I would use other strategies. I just want to experiment with niche units strats etc and yes in this case a macro was used so I can consistently do the deploy for testing purposes before i introduce it as an ability. This community does not have any restrictions on macros as theres very little you can apply with them in this game. You can queue units in a certain order, thats about it. Most good players have that kind of macro, even bikerush. Its tolerable here.
