As hypnotic as it is to watch his hands, I find that I hear the musicality of his phrasing and harmonic choices so much better when I close my eyes and listen. Very musical indeed.
Exactly. There are lots of guitarists out there that can play fast and clean. But the thing that makes Matteo so special is his *musical* chops. His feel for harmony, rhythm, spacing. He's a writer, not just a player.
Undeniably the most incredible guitarist alive today. Incredibly versatile, precision mechanics, graceful, phenomenal phrasing, and maturity way, way beyond his years. I honestly never imagined a guitarist could actually get this good.
This is a generational guitar player ready to take over the world. He's got the skills and talent to become a legend and is already in the same league as top world players.
Matteo…I’m an old school rock fusion guitar player who after decades of listening to Jimi, Eric, Jimmy, Zappa, Al D, Larry Coryell, et Al….discovered you two years ago. When Al DiMeola said about you as a guitarist as a change artist at the level of Jaco…He as a pillar of guitar legends acknowledged that you are at the next level. A game changer. Keep on expressing your virtuosity.
His father Vincenzo Mancuso was his first teacher. He uses a similar style. To me, as a none guitarist, it looks like a mixture of classical and flamenco.
@@DeezjaVu You are correct! His right hand technique is mostly classical/flamenco with some minor adaptations for electric guitar. He's very clearly done a LOT of study in those styles (classical especially), and added his own innovations to deal with the unique advantages and challenges of electric guitar playing. As a guitar player, the way he so smoothly transitions between classical techniques like free stroke playing, to those fast rest stroke runs, into more modern electric technique like tapping, is incredible. Dude has certainly done his homework. Really amazing stuff.
A master at work - every video amazes me again and again. Thats a life goal right there - being able to express oneself like that on an instrument. crazy
It amuses me to see on his Wikipedia page that he was offered a scholarship to Berkeley in Boston. They should have paid not only all tuition, but also a stipend. He is a feather in Berkeley's cap. Berkeley was lucky to get him. As a retired classical guitar professor, I dreamed about this type of style. However, no guitarists played like this. I guess that is what makes him one for the history books, he needed no player to inspire him to such greatness.
It's virtuoso, it's smooth, it's melodic, and even at hyperspeed it still sounds like velvet oozing out of your speakers. I really like this on so many levels........
Everything perfect! feeling, timbre, technique, phrasing... for sure M. Mancuso is among the top five guitar appearances in recent years...the same dimension as an Eric Johnson. We want a cd with only our own compositions... please!!!!

@@demetriusmota9613 You can already hear his first two original songs checking his videos (the one on the classical guitar was a -really nice- surprise to me), and that's really good to say the least ! See a few more will be needed to make a CD but probably on their way :) PS : I enjoy this comment to suggest you to check the composition of Antoine Boyer who is a very talented young guitarist who has a great technic but his an incredible composer too .
I've played guitar since picking out Breezin' by George Benson by ear back in the day. You are one of the most exciting new guitarists to come along in a long time. Fresh technique, grounded in melodic ideas that flow great, and monster chops. Hoping you'll get to tour the USA one day when we get this pandemic behind us.
@@yosefmalachi its fusion guitar. Its basically Rock/Metal mixed with Jazz. Edit : Although the term Fusion can be applied to any fusion of music styles like say contemporary pop or rock music with maybe ethnic and folk music, but when we say fusion in guitar centric rock music we often mean the fusion of Rock/metal with Jazz. Hope that helps
If you want a right hand like Matteo, it's almost purely classical guitar technique (aside from the tapping of course haha). He studied classical from a young age and it shows! I highly recommend getting a teacher and learning proper classical technique if you truly want to play like this. This kind of accuracy and control is heavily focused on in classical teaching right from the beginning, and once you have the basics down and understand the importance of things like hand position, posture, and the different techniques like rest/free stroke, you can quickly start adapting it to electric guitar!
