Changing the colour of the instrument cluster backlight on CityBug doesn’t really go to plan. I’ve since made another video using the correct SMLEDs with much better results. Watch it here: • C1/107/Aygo Speedo Bac...
I’ve redone done this job since this video was made and made a better video of the process using the correct type of LEDs. Please check out the new video: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-OkAo4TbxGUI.htmlsi=CFnRzDY0HqlperpI
The upgrades on this channel are superb, great fun to watch even if you don't modify your car. The Rolls Royce upgrade on that City Bug stands out as a supreme example of your ingenuity.
The further I’m getting into this tutorial, the less inclined I am to invest the next week of my life into changing the colour of my speedo 😝 Your devotion and attention to detail is admirable.
Really like the way you just make it up as you go along, makes for not only for an educational video but very entertaining too. I subscribed in the first place because I have an Aygo but now find myself watching anything you do, great stuff.
What a daft design, my kids indicator light has gone out on one side, I did think it be a new twist led, but no seeing from your video, they are soldered on. In that case they will have to live with it. Thanks for saving me time. Update, in a spell of outlandish bravery, I decided to follow your disassembly and solder a new green led from the front without desoldering the lcd. Actually managed it, now have a working rhs indicator light. My son will have no idea what goes on so he can have a working car.
Credit where it's due, you're pretty good at soldering as that looked like a ball ache! Shame there's not an easier way of getting that screen out like cut plastic etc. Cool attempt tho! 👍😎
Good evening from Greece, you made the video I was looking for two years ago. Thank you very much for that. I wish you could make a video that I am also looking for my Toyota Aygo. "How can we open and close the passenger window through the driver's door?" Thx a lot!!!! 🙂
Good job, fun to watch. But fyi the most heat sensitive spot on our bodies is between our noses and upper lip. Just bring the soldering iron close to the spot there and you'll know for sure
Glad it helped. It sounds like you’ve not got the display not soldered in line properly. I’d check that as you could be a terminal out of line or maybe a bad joint or a bit of solder has linked 2 together 🤔
Tried it myself but now the LCD doesn't seem to work anymore. Any thoughts? Has the heat on the pins destroy it? Edit: never mind! Forgot the 2 top connections behind the Speedo. Im such an idiot lmao.
@@StupidBlokeStupidVideos got mine off a breaker. £20 delivered. You can make the video interesting by making the relays to do the back wiper intermittent aswell, never did it myself but I think there's a write up somewhere
Did the same also. But I actually broke one and had to find a new speedo and get it programmed with the correct milage 🙈 Display had desd lines in it because desoldering it was a hastle. I bought the same type of LEDs, tho. White in the dash (incl. the rev. meter) and a red for the needle.
@@MarkStott666 it hides the multitude of other noises with a noise that I know what it is,.. it’s kind of like turning the radio up with a really bad tune on it. Ignorance is bliss 🤣
Cheers mate. If you’re handy with a soldering iron it’s not a bad job. I revisit it in this other vid and fit the right LEDs which work properly ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-tgaSu7fPW2s.html
Yea the LED probably needs replacing. It’s the same as doing this job but you need to suss out when led is the one that’s faulty and change that one. I made a bette video on this process recently
grazie, è stato un po' un casino ma l'ho risolto in questo altro video! p.s. Sto utilizzando Google Translate ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-tgaSu7fPW2s.html
I have replaced these leds in over 20 bugs by now. And damn. This is painful to watch 😅 Be gentle don't rip it apart. So much broken stuf could be avoided. And why those enormous leds?
Sounds like you’re new lol. The big LEDs cos the SMD I had were wrong, but I’ve rectified it now with the right ones in this other vid. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-tgaSu7fPW2s.html
@@StupidBlokeStupidVideos yeah. I am new here. The one that was here today for blue Leds mentioned this video. Desolder of the screen was nicely done tho.
@@BRENGtram I think I’m gonna do blue next tbh, I might do another more serous and better explained video if I change them again,.. but that’s not really my style. Feel free to check out my other vids though, most of them are equally as dumb as this one! 😂
I watched this video about 1 year ago, and this tipped me into actually doing interior styling on my car, waiting for new leds from France, should be here in 5 days time, so I'm gonna watch this a few more times! 🫶🏼
@@StupidBlokeStupidVideos will check it out now. My aygo front dash board heater defroster doesn't work when put on front defroster mode. But the heaters do work on other heating modes. Would you know why?
@@farhaansidd5547 check where the cable attaches to the heater box, may have come off or need adjusting. I show how to do it in one of my vids but can’t remember which one lol. I’ll have a look now see if I can find it for you.
@@farhaansidd5547 thinking about it that adjustment was for the hot/cold not the flap to direct it up towards the screen. The mechanism for that is under the dash. Can be seen at about 13 mins into this video. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-xhiauBsBMWI.html
1210 SMLED are the type you need. I show them in this other video where I fit the correct LED’s ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-tgaSu7fPW2s.html
@@StupidBlokeStupidVideos is that unsoldering the multi bock ..... i couldnt do it ...😔 i should get a spare speedo n rev counter ...see if anyone could them ( deep blue)
The central light is a pain in the ass, why do they make it so hard to bloody remove lol. I thought it would only take a few minutes like you... fucking hell. I gave up as the sun was setting, will try again on the weekend. fml
