Ria Health delivers evidence-based care that includes medications, one on one support, a digital app, and progress tools. We support people who want to either reduce or stop drinking with the care of an expert medical team and community support.
We use safe and FDA approved medications such as naltrexone, which is the cornerstone of the Sinclair Method. We also support not for profit advocates that promote awareness of options for people who want to change their relationship with alcohol. We are proud sponsors of Claudia Christian's CThree Foundation and Moderation Management.

@@HumanimalChannel your personal experience will save you and TSM allows for our brain to have the experience of a normal drinker. Which is profound and liberating. You'll see. Its phenomenal. I spent decades believing I was weak, immoral, insane, doomed etc.. ad infinitum.. TSM helped put my reality, my life, and my self into proper perspective. Once these are set in order, a new freedom flows in.

Thank you so much. I asked some of my AA friends about this, and they judged me harshly. When I've relapsed, my AA club turned its back on me or guys tried 13 stepping me to try to get laid (yeah, they target women that recently relapse because they think we're more likely to go to bed with them). I'm going to start this today. Thank you for giving me hope!

Good for you Jennifer. In 2019 there is more effective way to get to abstinence or controlled drinking. 'Cold turkey' fails so miserably - it just seems to convert a daily drinker into a binge drinker. The traditional pushback one gets on using a safe medication to counteract an incredibly strong drug like alcohol is criminal in 2019. The pushback (shaming) comes from ignorance at least - not malice. TSM targets the source of the learning and reinforcing of the alcohol habit. Good luck with your TSM journey. Give it one year at least, but I bet you will see improvement much much sooner. Have you read the book and seen the documentary?

I’m so sorry that happened to you! It’s true there is a level of shunning that happens even though they say they won’t judge you. The big book was written in the 40’s and it says science may one day accomplish this (core for alcoholism) but it hasn’t done so since... well now we have an option thanks to science

I've been sober about 3 months. Last time before that was 7 years ago and I'm only 21... was going through 0.875 liters a day of vodka. Tried at home tapering and landed myself in the hospital for a week after vomiting blood from my torn throat and stomach from a week of constant vomiting, shakes, heavy sweating, confusion, disorientation, severe anxiety, pain attacks, elevated heart rate, etc (everything except a seizure and dt). I got on Naltrexone as an anticraving med in inpatient, but never was told this is an option. While. I'm going strong right now, I am worried about the long term success of my sobriety, as I never truly wanted a life devoid of liquor, especially here in the US. I'm thinking on continuing my Nal proscription such that if a bad day comes up, I have a tool to fight that endorphin rush. Question: do you need to be taking it daily, even when you don't drink, or just an hour minimum before each time? Not sure if this channel is still active but I wanted to say thank you so much for this resource. It's helped me greatly, and it's nice to hear I'm not the only normal human "alcoholic" who has problems with conventional spiritual methods.

The Sinclair Method involves taking Naltrexone an hour before you drink only on drinking days. On non-drinking days you don't take the medication.

There are a couple of popular facebook groups and the subreddit r/Alcoholism_Medication - people there can help you figure out the easiest way to get the medication based on where you live. It's a lot easier these days than it used to be. Good luck!

Great interview!!!! I just watched an interview on RU-vid with Larry king, Claudia Christian, and some others. I wish Claudia could have talked more. I believe in her and Katie's method. The Sinclair method. I just started it a week ago. Naltrexone. I feel pretty confident that it's going to work. I'm already drinking less. But, the major thing for me is that the cravings aren't as bad, and my anxiety has decreased. I feel a calmness at times

In the video, between 38 minutes to 40 minutes, she discusses being on the Sinclair Method with other competing factors. I'm going through a marriage separation which is very stressful in itself. I just started TSM 8 weeks ago and have been separated for 9 weeks. Her leaving me realize that I needed to change my ways. First for me and second because I want to work things out with my wife. I feel that TSM has helped me a lot with my alcohol cravings and my drinks reduced in the beginning, but seem to have plateaued the last couple of weeks. Maybe due to the holidays. So my question is: is the Sinclair Method really the right thing for me and if it is, how do I deal with the anxiety and stress of separation. That's the biggest reason I think I have struggled. My drinking sessions only occur at night. I no longer day drink on my days off and I don't get smashed as soon as I get home from work. I look forward to the nightly sessions because the alcohol dampens my mind to the anxiety and grief that have built up during the day. Any advice is welcome. Thank you in advance.

We are so deeply sorry for what you are going through...that must be so difficult. 😕 So often we use alcohol as a coping tool especially in such trying times. Be easy on yourself through this process and seek additional outside support. TSM can definitely help when its given time to work...and recognize gradually changing habits coping practices will help as well. Wishing you well.

@RiaHealth

Perhaps! In the book, "The Cure for Alcoholism" by Dr Roy Eskapa, he speaks of a woman who used naltrexone to overcome a binge chocolate eating habit. I think more research is needed, but it is promising. Thanks for your comment!

If I take this pill, I understand the opioid receptors are blocked. My question is, will I not be happy or excited about things for the rest of the day, like with friends or family?

This is a great question. Here is a video where Dr Mendelson speaks to how naltrexone impacts your mood ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Z1lQqanG7AQ.html

I think only if you take the pill consistently before doing those things. So if you visit friends and family before taking the pill for the day, I think it won't teach you to stay away from them like it will with things you only do an hour and later after taking the pill.

If you're looking for a more structured approach, we offer recovery coaches and medical counseling for extra support along the recovery process.
