Everything is going to come down cars, boats, houses. People spent way beyond there means during the pandemic. Reality is going to kick in!

Yes all the toy prices will come down. But home prices continue to rise. Why, because construction cost are high. You can't build a new home for under $200 / sq. FT. . It's just math. Car prices have been hugely inflated and car companies used the fake chip shortage to make huge profits. Just think about it. We bailed out car companies, now they thanking us buy charging 75k for a pick up truck.

Thanks for your insight and hard facts. I just picked up a C6, I feel I got a good deal based on mileage/condition and mods already complete. If prices continue to fall, I may go into the overpaid territory, but bottom line is i plan to keep my C6 for many years.

I would be very surprised if prices ever come down more to where they were. Things have changed fundamentally with the mid-engine Corvette making a front-engine manual far more desirable than before.

@@Toys4Life True, but right now Vette prices overall are falling _slightly_ with only specific model years holding or increasing value. We'll get a steady decline I think but maybe only 2%/yr? C5Zs I expect will increase along with the rest of the desirables.

I hope so. I’m in the market for an 04 Z06, I’m seeing prices as high as 36K. That’s too high. Prior to the pandemic I’ve seen them for sale around 25K.

Your video is right on. I have an C5 and a C4 and I was looking for another. But the prices have been off the charts. I was just looking last night and I have noticed that the prices of the cars that I was checking out dropped but not enough yet for me to pull the trigger on one. Good video.

All generations of Corvettes with excellent pedigree, patena, and stewardship with lower mileage will not decrease much in price in my humble opinion. Beat up, neglected, and poorly modified versions with higher mileage will drop in price. But the diamond examples will stay higher in price regardless just due to inflation. Pay now or pay later with more money seems more likely to happen. The days of great and cheap Corvettes has passed. Thanks for another fine video. Your insights and analysis are always appreciated.

I think they will always command a premium to the rest of the Corvettes - but I think Cream Puff prices in June of 2023 will be materially lower than the same car sold for in June of 2022. Time will tell for sure!

I got my C5 about 5 months ago. 2002 black on black, manual, clear t-top and only 33k miles. I paid $19k and I don't regret a thing.

i just got a new job as a server . im making about $1500 a check and my monthly bills are only about $500 . im going to finally start saving for a c5 . i’ll be able to comfortably put away $1000 a month and by the end of the year i can put down a hefty payment or just buy one outright

Just before the pandemic I had entertained the idea of moving to a C7, I hesitated and the prices skyrocketed! to the point where there was no way I was going to pay like new prices for a used Corvette, in some cases at my local dealership, one of the salesman sold a couple used C7’s higher than when they were new! I’m still happy with my C5 convertible and I’m glad It’s still in my shop! 😊👍🏼

I purchased my 2004 Spiral Grey Metallic Coupe (auto) back in June of this year for only $5,500. What was the catch? It only has 336,000 miles on it :) No check engine lights and purchased it from the owner who acquired it at 30k miles. I have been doing the basics on it like brakes and suspension but it’s been fun so far!

The funny thing about the garage queens is they ALWAYS and I mean ALWAYS start having issues once someone starts to drive it in any sort of serious manner... UNLESS the previous owner took care of ALL the known issues... I have owned both and would rather have a high milage one that has been taken care of and with a stack of receipts... If not, you are looking at getting caught up on a TON of deferred maintenance and repairs down the road for that top dollar piece. Now, do what makes you happy. :)

I just purchased a 2001 Convertible Corvette w/ only 34K miles rare Metallic Silver Cherry Red interior with a White top last week 21k. Clean Carfax & Super Clean. 👌 I waited towards cold weather because I know they rather not sit on or store Convertibles.

I knew the prices would fall eventually but a month ago I bought an 09 jsb 3lt z51 with 59k miles. I got it for 25.5 private party. I figured I wouldn’t see the price drop “that” much after the prices finally fell. Either way, it still feels like a steal and a half.

I sold my 43,000 mile super clean totally stock 01 Z06 for $21,000 a week ago. I had plenty of interest at $24,000 but no one came thru and handed over the money. $21,000 is what it took. Part of the cause is that people are cash poor, and banks have slowed on issuing personal loans and private auto loans. All these housing prices went up because the banks were willing to give people money. People don't actually have any money of their own. Wells Fargo won't give you an auto loan at the bank anymore, only thru a dealer. So private sale prices are dropping quickly. Dealer prices are still high because sub-prime auto loans thru dealers (i.e. OMF etc) are still doing well and people don't care how much they pay for a car, only whether or not they can take it home today. Hopefully prices on everything will fall. Things got astronomically expensive real fast. Anyway, I enjoyed my C5 for 3 years and it was time to sell it as my fiance and I are saving to buy a new mobile home and move to the Hopi reservation where she has land. I replaced it with a 2005 Toyoter Matrix XRS which is a fun commuter, and I still have my C4. The C4 has more personality than a C5 IMO, and it's a cooler cruiser. They actually perform ok too with just a couple mods. I definitely wouldn't call it a "better" car but it has a few things going for it including a better interior, at least for 90-96. Replace all the old parts and put some roller rockers and headers on an LT1 and it's dead even with a stock LS1.

I have a 1998 C5 auto for sale 130k in MA 12500 obo all mods were done in the past year: LT headers x pipe with high flow cats, vararam intake, custom tune, apple carplay radio with complete sound system. Car needs nothing and does not skip a beat. I bought it off an old lady who's son was a mechanic car was meticulously maintained. Paint shows like a 130k car but is still very presentable. The Interior is in great shape not a rip in the seat and both sides power options work.

Picked up my first corvette. C5 convertible with 102k miles in excellent condition. The only downside is it's automatic. But the wife loves that! I did drive 4.5 hours away to get it, but the drive home was worth it!! Paid 11k for it.

Truth is it’s about your budget. A few grand here or there doesn’t matter in the long run if it was the car you wanted. The shopping process can take years off your life.

They are definitely coming down. Up in the Pacific Northwest I find them for $11,000-$22,000+(for ones that are zo6s, built, LOW LOW MILES, ETC) with decently low miles. I found one with 106,000miles for $14,000, clean title, garaged, desirable full black interior the owner just never drives it so it’s just got me having more and more hope. You’d be surprised the PNW has a bunch of unicorns for sale out here. I find skyline gtst’s all day for $14k and up, sometimes you’ll get extremely shocked and see one for 9k. And ofc you can find beautiful classics

This is great news since I just started saving up a few months ago and I’ll be ready to buy late next summer/fall to have a nice deposit (at least 20%). Based on your recommendation and C&S corvettes in Florida it’ll be a clean manual 2003 or 04 w/o F55 suspension

Make sure to inspect the clutch. Cost over $2,000 to replace if one is lucky. And the harmonic balancer is an expensive repair. Best of luck in your search.

@@nikkoalpha2 thanks. I have a list of things to look for and a wobbling harmonic balancer is definitely on the list. Also, Loose rattling noise in the torque tube. Acid under the battery, poor weatherstripping around the windshield and the radiator support bracket (bent from driveway aprons, etc. )

Have not spent too much time lately - I might do a follow up one year later. Curve ball was our 30 year high inflation - which drives the cost of EVERYTHING up from a mountain dew to a house and a Corvette....

The middle of the road and bottom C5's are going cheap as they should but the nice examples are fetching a higher price. They go anywhere from $10K-25K. You need to compare apples to apples. Also 01-04 are getting way more then 97-00.

I'm in the market at the right price for a Nice C6 or cheaper C7. I'm looking for a 4K decrease by Spring. Then I will pull the trigger on one....

C'mon. Corvettes with over 100K are absolute money pits. Your happiest day will be the day you get rid of that 100K used up, Corvette. Unless of course you bought it as a lawn ornament and never plan to drive it.

yikes. I would argue the most important thing is how well the previous owner(s) took care of it. If it looks like crap - (including the interior) then walk. They probably left it outside a lot and deferrrrrrrrrred the maintenance. If it was someones baby - but they drove it a fair bit, I would be interested. If it is on the original a4 tranny or clutch - that may be in the cards though - but that's OK cause you need a fresh aftermarket clutch in these cars - or an updated A4 tranny to really have fun without worry IMO.

Just bought my dream car, finally after years of saving and waiting. 2004 C5 torch red with 2 removal tops,manual transmission, borla exhaust, slotted and drilled rotors and powder coated calipers, mint inside and out, 24,900 miles, paid $23,500 added a 40,000 mile no term bumper to bumper warranty for $3k, out the door tax, tags, warranty for under $30k. Love yo hear how people think I did? Good deal or over paid??

IMO The thought that Corvette prices are coming down is just shortsighted. 10 years ago I sold my restored C3 Stingray for $15K. Now, you cannot find a restored C3 for under $25K. Corvette prices follow a curve... The price for a new one is high, yet after 20 years the price bottoms out and the prices start to rise. I paid $13K for my C5 w/59K, 7 years ago from a dealer who just wanted to get rid of it. (A lot of unseen problems). I am an ASE CMAT and now everything is repaired, no modifications and a matching number car. I've been offered $25K for it multiple times and I wont sell. Why? Because the price is going to continue to rise. I've seen it so many times, regarding Corvettes.

The conditions and maintenance vary so dramatically no way to compare. Like you might find cars for less that need tires, brakes, plugs and 3k in misc. and the paint can be peeling or redone poorly and not compare.

I have a 2004 C5, Torch Red, manual Trans and bought it 7 years ago, it currently has 51,000 miles. Since I've owned it I've installed Borla Stinger Exhaust, cold air intake, Mcloud Stage 2 clutch, Synchros replaced, MGW shifter, new Bilstine shocks, Texas Speed heads and cam. Currently has 465 RWHP. Should I sell it? Heck no! With market falling I'd be lucky to get $18,000

@@Toys4Life The headlight gear cover popped off. Lyle at C&S Corvette recommended I press in on the gear shaft with one hand while turning the manual knob. It worked!

Savage Geese YT channel talked to the GM engine team that built the C6 Z06 and they confirmed the Valve issue is way overblown. Maybe that gave enough guys the green light to pay up? Who knows.....

I love your channel but would disagree, even being 3 months after you posted this video. The used car market in general is falling, however, cars like the corvette are holding their value. What we are seeing are those high miles vehicles coming down in value across many segments. Why people were spending tons of money on 100k+ vehicles is beyond me? The C5s that are low in miles and or rare still bring a 20k plus price tag, especially the 03 and 04 years. So if you spent 20k on a 150k-mile corvette with a somewhat beat up interior, you lost value. Note that region does play a role in this, northeast vs midwest. Either way enjoy the ride down the road or the financial rollercoaster.

My comment is more around those c5s that are 45k miles or less. Those have been holding that 25k price tag for some time and I don't see that going down. They are more rare and limited as time goes on. If you don't care about miles, modified, or an okay interior, scoop one up. Spring and summer will bring some inflation to them.

Personally, IMHO, the c5 is a much better looking car than the c6. I just can't get past the ugly headlights. Just bought an 01 Convertible, Hud, dual power seats, loaded with 52k miles for 15500. Like new! Magnetic red.. 6 speed stick..I think the c5 is one of the best looking cars ever made.

I just checked the value of my 19 C7Z and the price has stayed static. 88k mid value, and 92k high private party, which was MSRP on the car. Very tempting to sell. I don't see values coming down at all until the money this administration has printed exits the system, and manufacturers are able to get back to normal. Or until the fed raises interest rates to the level of inflation reducing demand and purchasing power. Scarcity increases value. Always will. And this is not meant to break anyone's hopes, it's just a fact of the matter. People have been saying this for months yet the values stay high. We still have a while to go. Hope I'm wrong.
