C64 Demo: Multiverse 100% by Nah-Kolor ! 11 May 2024!

Multiverse 100% list of improvements over the year, released out-of-compo
at X'2024:
Credits part side 1
- Better and smoother looking transitions to next part.
Joe Big Mine part side 3
- Scroller added on top (as original intended)
- Transitions added.
Diagonal wobbly scroller side 3
- Glitches fixed.
- Transitions added.
Comafight part on side 3
- Upgraded to a full 25 frames per second. Boxinggloves and more frames added.
Start 2.5 screens picture on side 4
- Background color bug fixed. Picture is now shown properly.
Fake end scroller on side 4
- Adjusted text to fit this out of compo X24 100% version release.
Asteriods/Space part on side 4
- Fixed tiny Asteroid glitches.

If it weren't for the low resolution and the fixed C64 colour palette, this could have been an Amiga demo back in the late 1980s or early 1990s. In fact, I have seen demos on 486 PCs with Gravis Ultrasound cards that didn't look or sound much better than this. It amazes me what can be done with such a small machine as the Commodore 64.

This reminds me of a few years ago when I saw kids breakdancing again. They were insane ! 1000% better than what we were doing in 1983.

if they tried the stuff we did then yes... very few high difficulty moves today. with fewer that can try to do this stuff.... we werent competetive.... it was more like skateboarding... lets see whats possible and what looks cool. something different even if its somewhat the same. someones individual style was theirs and many times couldnt be repeated. nowadays they collaborate more and define a style of dance. everyone can do. at least to start. a lot more coordination and group dances more these days and thats definatly raising a bar, thats hard. the. theres mixed artistic styles with freeform. some i keep forgetting ... but its much more hardcore, like ballet... mixed with martial arts 🥰

It really amazes me, what can be achieved on a 8bit, 1MHz machine with 64kb of ram. Kudos to the guys, exploiting C64 and pushing it towards the limits!

0:20 instead of interlace, I would be really refreshing to apply some subpixel pan and zoom like documentaries do to old photos. Or even encode some 3d and move the camera, again: only slightly. How much RAM is left?

11:23 why don't we see more vector fighters in front of a static background on old hardware? No virtua fighter comes with a full screen 3d background.
