I have no problem with people using SEUCK to create a game. The problem here is charging for such a basic and simple title, compared to some of the enhanced and more interesting examples that have emerged in recent years. Totally agree with you about The Last Defender, it's competently made but lacks any real thrill or long-term hook for me. Bearing in mind Aztec Tomb was done for a game jam, it's good fun and hopefully will be the precursor to a larger, enhanced release.
Thanks Andrew. I was so looking forward to The Last Defender but it just didn't turned out as I had expected it. I hope the likes of LC-Games do take our views/opinions as the constructive feedback that they are intended to be. I just want the scene to continue to push themselves to their full capacity.
SEUCK should have flashed out of existence by now. I used it a lot back in the day and produced one or two games that were unique at the time. I think as a way to learn the "basics" of level layout and sprite animation it's fine, but pitching games as commercial projects is taking the piss.
SEUCK must never flash out of existence! It's *the* most user friendly, smart and easy to use construction kit from the 80s, waaay ahead of its time. The uninspired flood of cheap 5 minute creations using the editor needs to die out, though 😗
I think you have summarized it correctly. SEUCK has its place but those using the engine need to survey the scene and look at what has already been done to death.

Vacation Island is a great bit of crossover art. Heading up to Europe in a few weeks and viewership is normally down during July so it feels like a good time to take a break from video creation...let's see if I can resist the temptation to put a mini round up episode together.
I played through the original Polar Bear in Space without *too* much difficulties. Sure it took some tries but that's how it should be imo. A complaint I have is that jumping on top of enemies sometimes also damages you. Yeah the original was great IMO as far as difficulty. Looks like some other things were improved, too, but I like that you can choose between normal and the new bearable mode. Love how you played through that game in your video btw!
@@daniellomblock6216 Thanks! I'm interested in what they improved. By the way, the thing I said about jumping happens when you jump on multiple enemies at once. It has been a while but I remember even dying to that. I hope I'm not imagining things.
I would like to clarify that in The Last Defender a single shot is enough to kill an alien, regardless of the charge level of the laser gun. However, an alien is totally invulnerable as long as it attacks downwards.
Thanks for clarifying that part of the game. Looking at the instructions on the game page, I can now see you make a reference to this but it was not clear to me that this is what it meant until you explained it here with your comments.
Thanks Luca, but difficulty is not an issue with the game, It is just missing something that makes it fun or addictive. It needs power ups to pick up and it needs more game environment as I mentioned in the video and perhaps something else but I can't quite put my finger on it. I hope you can see that we are trying to be constructive with feedback as we appreciate that you are an important part of today's C64 new game scene.
C64 has had some really nice homebrews. I’ve really enjoyed some of the arcade ports that have been put out. Tutankham and Donkey Kong Jr. being very impressive. Prince of Persia was amazing. C64 homebrews are one to watch.
I really hope we'll get something like a C64 'Scorpion Engine' at some point (maybe something will come from Sarah Jane Avory eventually). I see a lot of talent basically wasted on SEUCK engine; a shame really. Great vid once again!
