It's been a little over a year and I revisit some of my likes and dislikes of the car... See my initial corvette video here: • Corvette C7 First Test... Seen my 6 month review here: • C7 Corvette after 6 mo...
thanks, this was helpful. I've been considering one and I like to hear real world objective feedback about any gripes one might have with it after living with it. these are things you don't really know until you've lived with it for a while, so it's good to hear it in advance from someone else.
I have a black 2015 Corvette stingray C7. I love my car. The only issue I had was that I had to do the triple flush for the A8 transmission. Other than that she’s a beauty. Your pros and cons are quite interesting.
I use the "well" cubby hole in the back of the Corvette for storage for a can of tire Slime, a small tire pump, and a first aid kit. It all fits in there.
I’ve had three corvettes, a 59 when I was a junior in high school in 1968, an 03, C5 that I bought new at Kerbeck and finally a 16 C7 Stingray that has every available option on it but one. No z51. I found this car semi locally in late December 16. 78k, got 17k off sticker and another 17k for my 14 year old c5. I got it for the same money as a loaded Toyota Avalon. I love this car and drive it every chance I get. Having the manual is even that much more fun. There are four things every man should own to complete his bucket list. A Rolex Subbie, a Martin D28, a Harley Davidson and a Corvette. Having been lucky enough to have owned all four, if I could only keep one it would be the D28.
In regards to the window switch...There are 5 positions on the switch, with the neutral position being in the middle. there are 2 positions on the switch when you press down and also 2 on the way up. You need a very gentle finger and a higher level of awareness to notice these distinct positions. The first position down allows you to open the window to your desired level and it will stop anywhere you want when you let go. If you press the switch harder you will feel a soft click and that puts the window in auto mode it will go all the way down by itself. The opposite is true when you roll up. A soft pull will incrementally adjust up a firmer pull will tell it to auto-roll all the way up. At least that's how my 2016 3LT works, Hope that helps!
In my opinion, your Stingray is much better than the C8 (which I don´t like at all). The C8 looks like a wannabe Ferrari, and if you have the money to buy a C8, you can make the extra effort to actually get a Ferrari. But your Stingray does not look like anything else, you see it and you say "now THAT´S a Corvette!" Those are my two cents. And by the way, great video! Thanks for putting it out there.
Utilize your heated and cooled seats accordingly. (If equipped) might just be the missing link you're looking for to leave your auto heat/cool to satisfy you.
Dude I feel you about those windows! My Camaro did that and it drove me crazy. It took me about a year to figure it out also. Definitely one of the things they need to cover when you're taking possession. Anyway after that I don't agree with 60% of your other stuff. Oh well.
Could you cut the interior behind the seats to give them space to recline? If the stock seats don’t recline, you could buy aftermarket seats, which are expensive. Of course this all assumes you’re not concerned with resale value
I felt the same way about the C8 when I saw the pictures, but when I saw it in real life it was like... is that a Ferrari. The picture do it zero justice.
I wish I could say my C7 tires work good under 40 degrees it's been in hibernation since the end of October I live in northern Michigan I'm hoping to get it out within the next couple of weeks
I def saw you driving around man ! 😂 I'll be joining the vette club soon I'm looking at a c6 though not a 7 , it's a little out of my price point but it's ok I like the c6 a lot as well. What do you think of C6s? It'd be my first Vette I'm in the parts gathering phase right now 🤦♂️. Happy burnouts man 🤙
I still love my used, excused me, pre-own 2015 Blk/Blk ZO6 . Had it up to 130. No more room. I’ve been up to 165 on I-70 a long time ago. That thermostat dial is a killer. What a pain. For the C 8. Washing the car and water enters the engine compartment. That’s just BAD engineering. What were they thinking. I know , cooling vents for the engine…Blah Blah Blah. Good video, thanks again.
I lowered my c7 on stock bolts all the way, and now the Air DAMN, as I like to call it, scrubs the ground more, I think I should just remove them..maybe I'll just trim them in half.
I drove a Chevy Bolt for my self driving job with GM for 6 months. Seeing the same buttons a tech in the C7 cheapens the car's interior astetic for me.
The C8 is 🔥🔥. You’re crazy lol. When you see a C8 driving down the road I don’t care who you are that car is gonna grab you by the face and say hey stupid look at me haha. It looks great driving with exotic cars too. Blends right in
@@DarkStoneCastle Ahh i see. Well it all has to do with the Aerodynamics of the car why they do that. My current 01' Camaro does it to me. My 94 and my 95 Mustang GT's did it to me, and my 89 formula firebird did as well. I just thought it was a sports car thing lol. Either way bro, you got a nice car. I'm praying i'll get to pick one up soon.. '18 3LT Z51 with some extras added on. :D Been praying hard the deal goes through, Corvette's are my dream car's and the C7 is MOST DEFINITELY my favorite of all Generations.
Dude stop complaining and enjoy your car, if you're that unhappy with it you can ship it up to Ohio and I'll be willing to take it off your hands for you.
You haven’t said one lie lol. This is the worst shit I’ve ever heard lol. He really complained that the windows go all the way down b/c he dont double tap them lol
The front air dam is meant too kool the front Brakes, you replace those 3 piece spoiler & slow down when pulling out of your drive way or gas station this has been a problem with C6 & C7 I am on my 4 one, keep a spare one at all times good luck !
KpopNiDontStop you’re pushing past the the detent in the switch. Use less pressure on the switch and you will notice there is a detent for momentary window movement. Push past the detent to activate the auto up/down. It’s Just like the turn signal. Did you know about that?
Heres a review from a real C7 owner as well, me: its everything that was great about my 3000GT, and my Camaro but with the features my Lacrosse had. Not the most expensive, but the best car ive owned by a large margin.
Totally agree with your assessment of c8 corvette , rear looks like a Camaro and side vents look like they came off another car; c8 is my least favorite corvette ever! Jack
The C8 is another car that’s named Corvette. It doesn’t catty the same dna like it’s older brothers. Seems to have a new father but same mother. It’s in the family but doesn’t carry the same jaw bone lol.
AWESOME REVEIW!!! i couldnt agree more about the C8,looks nothing like a traditional corvette;have you ever had any engine, trans,or overheating issues with your C7,just curious, hey thanks!
Being black the air conditioner will not get as cold as a lighter color if you have it set at 70 like my racing yellow tint ive never had water issues in my car my biggest con is poor vision a lot of blind spots I almost go hit by a pickup and a round about I didn't see in my mirrors
I don’t understand why this video received so much hate. He stated his opinion on the cons and his opinion on the pros. If your that bitter, and miserable in life that you have nothing else better to do than try to down somebody else to satisfy your ego then that’s pathetic. Get off the internet soy boys. Aside from that Great video man keep bringing them!
No reclining seat is almost a deal breaker. I once owned a standard cab Nissan pickup and I got rid of it and bought an extended cab just so I could reclining the seat.
I have a C7 Corvette. The seat DOES recline and there is even a power recliner. The problem is drivers who are tall. I am 6'-4" and I have to move the seat far back to sit comfortably. Once I do that, there is little room for the recliner to work because it bumps up against the bulkhead. I can still get a very nice recline and even drive with my arms straight out. Shorter people will get more reclining, but nobody will ever be able to recline flat because of that bulkhead. And if you think a C8 would be better, think again. There's even less reclining there.
Wow, I bought a z51 and I love it. No offense but I think a Prius or something might suite you better. Seat reclines, won’t scrape etc. anyways, take care sir.
🤣🤣🤣 tremendous.... but seriously you know he was just giving his cons right? I actually appreciated it as I’m ab go buy one and would like an honest reviewer.
@@bailsaz They are fun cars.. Mine is my daily driver. It does scrape on everything though, some small speed bumps that are all over here in Tucson.. I park it at the far end of parking lots to avoid door dings, that kind of sucks but mine doesnt have any dings yet so until then. I havnt had any mechanical or electronic issues yet. Im at 72k regular oil changes and maintenance of course. Its a little cramped for me, i sit as low as i can and then i can do the gangsta lean over center console and im comfortable. Otherwise my head hits the roof. Im only 6'3 so these 6'5 guys saying they fit just fine is beyond me.. Maybe torso length? Mines a 2014 which i really dig but i would get a newer one with apple play if you have a iphone. ANyways, hope you get one man and enjoy it!
@@6StringPsychedelic thank you for all the information bro. I’m only 5’9 so the space won’t be a problem for me. Lol. The only problem I’m having is finding a 2014+ in manual w low miles.. I’m kind of just waiting until one pops up. Thanks again bro.
@@bailsaz Ah yea you will be comfortable. I really like the C6s as well, it is getting hard to find anything with low miles, and when you do its twice as much. Hope you score something soon. .
Yep, I’m in Suffolk (for the next 3 months anyway) Sorry to hear about you corvette. I’m still pretty happy with my c7. Probably do a video update at the 5 year mark.
UPDATE: I saw a new C8 Corvette up close and in person today at a dealership when I got my oil changed for my C7. Still not liking it any better. Stand out for me was looking through the rear window and seeing a dirty, greasy engine instead of a clean trunk to put groceries in or what not. Rear end too big. Car looks deformed. Pass.
I agree with you on the looks. My car looks just like yours . I purchased a used black on black 2015 Z06 this November. I notice your tail lights are red. Mine are transparent. I prefer the Red lens. Maybe they came with the car that year. What year is your car? I just saw in another post. 2019 C7 Stingray.
Funny how this has aged. A C8 for less than $60,000 on the ordering page; just imagine. That car now re-sells for $100k+. Complaints about the seat recline. There was a video on Ciacca Corvette channel about a hack for getting another inch or so of recline/slide. As for complaining about the C8, this is where appreciation for engineering is lost in this video. You can always tell an owner who doesn't drag or roll race his car, because it shows in their opinions. Nothing wrong with being civilized on the roads, and just loving how your car looks, but if that's all you know, then you just don't know Corvettes in a very important dimension. Is this car in the video even a Z51? Thanks, and best of luck from another black on black Vette owner in VA.
Just remove those air damns, they worthless. Lift it, and well, just keep one of those parachute material hammocs in that sweet juice cubby for lunch break and put it in a tree!
We drive Corvette not to recline in the seats... Play with a/c or mess around in the rain... It's a race car. Cockpit is what you are sitting in... Not a sofa. I drive a c3 Corvette. Real Corvette for real Rambo. This not a "we drive Corvette to be nice and warm and comfy". You want to be comfortable then take a vacation to somewhere they feed you grapes or something. Old people in newer corvettes starting to bother me. Like a princess
You can recline the seats but not if they are all the way back. So if your tall it won't recline much. Shorter then you slide seat forward and it will recline more.
Not only should someone take your vette but also your man card. First and foremost it's a vette and not a daily driver, get a Honda for a dd and for God's sake put that vette in a garage.
I say that because none of the things you mentioned are bad. Thats just how things were at that time period. You have to remember the year that the stingray launched. It was designed for ease of use without luxury functionality. It gives the vehicle its character to remind you what year they actually came out. The c8 is the first corvette in history to launch with fully modernized and luxury functionality with all the bells and whistles. Before the c8 all of them launched with basic stuff not high end. So yes the double click on the windows made alot of sense back then. 2014 wasnt that long ago but you have to realize how fast our technology advances.
