C7 Corvette: DSC Sport Controller - Installation

After hearing about DSC Sport from my buddy Andy, I decided to take the jump and order a controller for my C7 Corvette and 991.2 GT3 RS. This is a plug-in-play suspension upgrade that will change the way the suspension works. This is just the installation of the unit & I will make some driving videos with it after I fix the issue with my driver side header hitting my steering column.

I can completely understand the thought process behind buying something to experience it, rather than regurgitating someone elses opinion that was most likely obtained from a review somewhere else or not having one at all. I'd also rather test what interests me before writing it off.

How come this box doesn’t need the ride height set? That was always the ONE thing I read you needed to do on a DSC box.....especially on a car with altered height. The box essentially measures and controls all shock travel up or down from baseline and adjusts dampening accordingly. How does the box already know your cars exact [custom] baseline?

There seems to be lots of conflicting info online about this. I'll confirm again with DSC, but I'm pretty sure it doesn't need to be adjusted.

Hey Matt, you need a aluminum lined socket. A friend of mine used one for years on his cayman s and kept the lugs looking flawless.

It's incredible how hard you made a simple module replacement. The module just snaps out. You don't have to remove the bracket that it snaps into.

Looking forward to the review of DSC, may get it for my GTR. Also keep on doing your thing, don't explain yourself because it's not needed. I watch your videos because of your honesty. Also with Fasterprom not answering I agree it's not worth it there are a billion tuners and utubers doing the same thing. Please don't change the format fuck em. I also had a 1000whp Corvette and while I loved it I am happy I moved on too. Anyways please give honest review of DSC and I'll be getting one too. Keep doing videos on every single install it's good for my PTSD to watch and listen to you Matt. Much respect.

I had the suspension software upgraded by the dealer on my '17 GS and the difference for the first few miles was noticeable, but it quickly becomes the new normal. Enjoying the series, speaking not as a "Corvette Guy™", just a guy with a Corvette.

Hey Matt, I just picked up a c7 z06, manual with the zo7 package. Did you ever do a follow up driving impressions video with the corvette after the install? I could not find one.

Hopefully they have tuned the DSC box better on the C7 platform then they did on the Gen 6 Camaro Alpha chassis. In the Gen 6 the Out of Box tune is great for AutoX, but causes instability and floatieness that was not there in stock form in higher speed situations.

I was shocked that you didn't give under the trim an extra clean and polish before fitting it back, I love how methodic you are with the way you work and document the process. I onced picked up my van after my boss had used it at a weekend, shot off down the road to a roundabout and a strange feeling through the steering and a noise came from nowhere i pulled over, my boss had a flat tyre and did the wheel up finger tight, I swear I came so close to laying him out it was unreal.

I've heard as well for every inch on the socket extension adds another 10 ft lbs. So keep that in mind. But I could be wrong.

John Boot my dad used to tell me a longer screwdriver gives more torque :D Finally got to use my education to explain torque! Its a function of force and distance, but distance at 90 degrees from the axis of rotation. So a ratchet handle twice as long as a different one will exert twice the torque for the same force input. The length of the extension in line with the rotation shouldn't make any difference in the torque output

Like the process and idea of possibly liking the corvette. The owner base is terrible and the quality of the interior isnt the best but overall it's a fun car to drive hard.

Tood Anderson interior on the C7 is pretty great I thought? I worked at a chevy dealership and drove a few C7s, the interior always felt pretty solid. The C5, C6, ANY Camaro, etc all felt extremely cheap.

@@Thebadbeaver9 yes it's good but still uses plastic for the dash and center console that isnt the best. Much better than my c5 z06 though. That is horrible.

It’s a 2018 and does still have its original warranty. This shouldn’t void the warranty unless there are any Magnetic Ride Control or other suspension related failures.

Hey Tom. There really is no such thing as a voided warranty. What a manufacturer would have to prove is that the altered part failed due to the modification. I don't think anyone could argue that if the suspension failed after doing this that a warranty on the suspension wouldn't be honored. I certainly wouldn't make a claim. I'd just fix it. If the engine blows up after putting a DSC controller in, logic would say the DSC controller had nothing to do with it. In that case the warranty would be required to cover the engine despite the suspension modification.

C7 ZO6 would beat that GT3 stock. Nothing better than a C7ZO6 with the right driver. ZO6 much better performer..

I think you'll find getting a good tune on this car is frustrating as hell. luckily you haven't done a cam, which requires someone actually knowledgeable, not just anyone seems to dial in driveability and people that can act like they don't wanna do their job, just about anyone can make hp at wot. anyone saying to go fasterproms has never tried to actually take a car there. you basically have to know someone and then it's gotta be someone they like. Jeremy does know his shit thou and guys will pay to fly him around the country to tune their cars. but how anyone gets ahold of the guy? good luck.

Only way to get a hold of him is to go to his shop and talk to him. I also know a place that puts out multiple quality builds quite often and they never answer their phones or emails/facebook.
