So, is it safe to assume that to head north to Acton or Cliffe/Hoo Jcn. you have to set back from the yard onto the up slow? Must admit I'm surprised that there the yard can't be accessed directly without setting back off the mainline. It seems like an added risk of a derailment, and it doesn't give the driver the best of visibility. I take it the cab door slamming is because you have to look back to see the shunt signal? I'd love to see the approach through Tolworth station and into the yard there, plus the running around of the empty stock. It must be hard keeping on top of your route knowledge with so many various routes and yards that you have to use. Great videos, always fascinating. Thanks.
Yes you are right about the door ! yes have to set back to head towards Redhill, I will film approach to Tolworth in the future, more videos on the way...
That DB hopper was still there today (Saturday). How come there's a hopper there anyway? I thought that depot was served by box wagons and unloaded by excavator. That's what was there when I passed this morning. Day Aggregates are a good customer for the railway, what with Purley, Tolworth, Woking and Crawley depots, to name a few.
Great videos, as it is a different view of our railways in south east. 2 questions if i may please? 1. Do you prefer a 66 or 59 class to drive? 2. Is the class 66 just as noisy at each end?
Seems an awkward place that, having to set back onto/off the main line to get into it. Why's it called Crawley new Yard anyway? It's nearer Three Bridges
Train length indicators are fitted to locos. From reading previous comments, you input the length at the journey start. Press the button when needed and it beeps as the last wagon passes the point.
I didn't want to be repetitive by using the same words, Also, this time around I didn't have any questions. It is still up there with your other great videos. lol
