A cab ride aboard an 09 type Plasser & Theurer tamper from Haywards Heath Up Siding to Redhill via Three Bridges and Gatwick Airport. Apologies for the somewhat grey overcast weather - can't be helped!

When you drop off your vehicle in so many disparate locations, then how do you get home to your real bed each night ? Or do you sleep in your vehicle or crew berthing ? I am a tractor-trailer (lorry/HGV) driver, and I sleep in the bunk behind my driving cab ; it is very convenient to get to work, as 'work' is 5 feet in front of my bed ! It's a tough life from most people's estimates though, as I currently plan to get into my own 'real' bed for 2 nights every 2 weeks. I can't do this forever, I suppose, as this body is 65 years old now; I should be retired already ! Aarre Peltomaa of Mississauga, Ontario
