A cab ride aboard a Southern class 377 from Tattenham Corner to Purley, via Tadworth, Chipstead and Coulsdon. Please note this is the return journey to that I published in August - sorry for the delay!
Great video emmo, lovely journey, you could definitely see the difference between rural parts and built-up parts coming into London, always a pleasure to watch 👍😀👌
45 to 50 years ago I grew up in a house whose garden backed onto the line between Tattenham Corner and Tadworth stations. During that time I walked passed the Tadworth station a lot, and saw Tattenham Corner station a bit from outside, but I've never been on the line. And never saw what happened after the line rounded the corner from Tadworth. Many thanks for the opportunity to ride the line.
Another nice video. I find these very nostalgic, travelling some of these routes with my parents many years ago now. Many of the stations haven't changed that much and there is still a recollection from the past in this ever changing world, a lot of changes, not for the better unfortunately. You can see why the railways are expensive, with all that infrastructure to keep in order.
The 5-car Class 377 Electrostars are quite suited to this line. They usually depart London Bridge as a 10-car set and split them at Purley with one set going off the Caterham.
Emmo - thank you so much for posting this lovely journey. I have wanted to do this line for some time now (about 25 years to be precise). Being in Toronto does have its disadvantages...
