Welcome back!
Over the past while I have been working at completing an addition to the dovetail log cabin. This video shows the completion of that work!
We are living in an off grid log cabin and decided that we needed a bit more space. The original cabin's main loving space was 12x12 feet and this room adds an additional 12x10 feet.
If you have suggestions of how best to use this space, please do let me know!

One thing I like about this channel is its lack of sensational, over-the-top, hyper-excited commentary. You show us the work, tell a bit about the work, but mostly let the work speak for itself. My only suggestion is that you sand the logs in that room so all the wood surfaces will be a similar color.

Thanks for the feedback David! Some videos I talk a bit more but overall I lean to just showing the work.

You have beautiful lampreys swimming in that river. I never saw a video of the nesting stage before, thank you for that! Enjoy, lampreys are considered a delicacy.

I just found your channel and have watched several videos - mostly about building the cabin. I really love the workmanship you put into the build. Those fish look more like eels but are quite unusual. Thanks for sharing.

Addition looks great. I really enjoyed watching you get that whole tree trunk on the forks, then onto the mill all by yourself! I thought it was funny you didn't need help until the tree had been reduced to 2lb pieces. Never saw a fish like that. I'm sure every bit of it's weird anatomy is required to do what it does. Great underwater captures on that thing! Thanks for another great video!

Ha! That's funny. Yea, apparently I needed help with the small boards but the giant log seemed to be manageable☺️

Great video ! Don’t know how I missed the last 2 videos you posted. Caught up now though. Very cool how they travel back into the streams like that. Wonder if it’s like salmon that return to the same streams they were born in. Take care Jonathan

The addition looks great. With space at a premium I'm sure you'll find the best use possible for the new room. Have you considered building a wrap around screened deck/verandah so you can enjoy the beautiful scenery bug free?
@PenniacWilderness

I had not considered the wrap around deck .... I til you wrote ha. It would be getting quite close to the stream but I suppose with good footings I'd be OK! And it would be nice...

The extension looks beautiful ❤️ I'm thinking you would maybe put a dinner table in there on one side or move the couch in there and have some loungers looking out the windows at the stream and then have a dinner table in the original cabin? Those fish are ugly 😂 Are they edible? What was that pretty item you hung on the wall with the rolling things? I can't wait to see how you utilize your new space!! As always, it was fantastic hearing from you Corpus Christi TX
