I'm sot sure I understand the reasoning behind not stickering some of those Peace Dollars. Some of them I do understand why, but others I feel like I'm scratching my head. Lovely group of Peace dollars regardless. Thanks!

Because I think cac is a scam. If they stickered everything, they would be exposed. They probably have a blind monkey chained in the basement having fun with a roll of stickers.

Thanks. Firstly I must come clean, stickering holds little appeal to me. Having admitted that, the coins that stickered I feel were justified in doing so (inclusive of your Mercs) The 1829 1/2 dime was a stunner I thought, though not having much experience with them I don't have a real measure of them either, but talk about a 'super slider' wow! Then there were several of the Peace $'s that I felt were fairly exceptional,(so might have been deserving) but alas, no bean, so clearly what do I know?

The concept of a gold "dollar" coin is just nuts considering current gold spot, To make a gold "dollar" today you'd only have less than 15 MILLIgrams to use. Oy don't sneeze near it or POOF!

I think the security, card reader strips woven into the money will become a gold thread. Just a way to back the currency- it would set a bottom line of dollars to a Troy ounce, even fractional will hold the line for a few years.

the 1799 $1 has two obvious, fairly deep gashes on the face. if they were not as obvious and not on the face it would have stickered.

Some head scratchers in this box, some i agree were on the dark side for the grade. The 3 dollar is my biggest head scratcher in the group, how many comps do they even have in the grading set would be my question.

I'd like to see CACG crossover attempts with the only constraint that the coin must straight grade - no details. Stickering may fail for many reasons. If CAC agrees the coin is original, they should be willing to assign it a grade, though that may be lower than PCGS or NGC. It would be interesting to see how CACG technical grading differs from the others assuming no harsh cleaning.

Though GAG was for coins that were superior looking for the grade. Lots of those coins were ugly for the grade. Not surprising that most didn’t sticker.

@11:32 On the 1925 Peace dollar the 'die scratch?' under/through the rays under the leaves and "O", is that a VAM? And from @15:42 - @15:45, is that die doubling on the obverse? Same question, I don't see either variety in the VAM lists, but it's not like I know what I'm talking about, cuz I don't, lol!

I'm buying more PCGS graded coins lately. Just to keep diversifying out of fiat without ponying up 2400 for an oz of gold.

I will never understand the value of a CAC sticker for graded coins. Maybe I’m just ignorant or naive, but the coin has already been graded.. and high MS grades already command a premium, so why having another company slap a sticker of approval on an already graded coin is pointless to me.
