I think so too. If the offensive line can become consistent and allow the QB plenty of time to make a decision, I think the quarterbacks will become more comfortable and go through their reads and implement different types of throws instead of just lofting it up or throwing it like a bullet. That might also be why Thomas Austin was fired and Tyler Grisham hasn't been yet.
I truly hope that the spring game isn’t an indicator of how Cade is going to play this Fall. If it is… oh boy. We got rid of DJU and blamed him for being a bad QB despite it being 95% on our offensive coordinator and game plan, and we replaced DJU with someone that to this point has been less talented and has made even more mistakes than DJU did 😞😥 I just wish we could have seen DJU with Garrett Riley. DJU has had success at other schools… Oregon State was literally a couple games from the playoffs. That tells me that it was NOT a DJ problem. Brandon Streeter was such a stupid hire from Dabo. Cade was an awesome high school player, but to this point it has not translated to college ball. Some guys are awesome in HS because they’re the best player on the field, and once they get into college and the competition is a lot more balanced they just simply can’t do what they used to. I hope Cade proves us wrong.
We seem to forget just how young Cade is. Most college QBs aren't really good until their 4th-5th years in college. Cade going into his true junior year. He'll do better this year.
I think cades problem last year was trust. Most of the time he couldn’t trust his oline to block couldn’t trust his wrs to catch and couldn’t trust his rbs to not fumble especially after the first half of the year where it seemed we fumbled at least twice a game. He felt he had to do it all on his own and couldn’t do just his job and deliver the ball. The thing is with what I watched last year I don’t blame him cause I wouldn’t have trusted anyone outside of mafah last year to just do their job on the offense. He’s going to need at least a while to build that trust and I don’t see it happening before the start of the season cause you need more then the practice environment to earn that trust it’s going to take a few games at least.
Arm talent and character not likely make up for a big deficit in historical “bad decision making”, missing wide open WR’s he doesn’t see, not looking off primary WR and following progression, throwing into double coverage, not throwing on time etc………HS is HS and Clemson opponents are D1
Cade’s problem is between his ears. Can he see the field, process what he is seeing and make the right decision with the football? If he can’t do it you’re going to see TJ Moore and Bryant Wesco throwing their arms in the air out of frustration like Stellato was last season.
The majority of the fan base was very frustrated because of the poor performance from DJ and I think some of that has spread over to Cade. If he doesn't improve much this season, then I'm not sure exactly what the problem is. He has a lot more talent than DJ ever did. I think part of the problem has also been the offensive line. I think after a while they start to not trust the offensive line to block and are rushing the play or staring down a receiver that they hope will get open because they automatically assume they won't have time to go through progressions.
He’s a bad decision maker. We know he will look great in any variation of the underwear throwing Olympics. Ask SCar fans about Jake Bentley, who was the most outstanding quarterback at the Manning Passing Academy and still looked inept in games. Cade is young, but not running the play the coach called, turning the ball over every game, locking in on one target, that can’t be ignored. Then you come out in a vanilla spring game and Pearman looks far better than you. If not him, is it play-calling?
