The CadWagon is just superb. Superb. And my favorite era of '60-'62 is well shown here.

The Vista Cruiser top adds so much, complemented by the tasteful fins! Which is your favorite color for an early 60's Cadillac?

Love this era of Cadillac. Our wedding car in '93 was a mint unrestored '62 Sedan deVille 4 door hardtop. Ran and rode beautifully and still smelled like a new car. White with red leather interior.

They had a grace all to themselves! I hope a '62 finds it way into your garage!

Great video enjoyed by new subscriber in Tucson, Arizona. Mama had a 1963 Coupe de Ville and wanted to trade for a 1968 Fleetwood, went to Norfolk Motor Company and no one would approach her so she got into her silver Coupe de Ville and 2 men came running out to her car, she kind'a waved, drove across the street to Perry Buick and never looked at another Cadillac, and I'm now the caretaker of her last car, a 1991 Park Avenue The main differences in 1963 and 1964, in addition to the turn signal, the 1964 has a horizontal painted strip running thru the center of the grille and the taillights 'protruded' in the center where the 1963's are flush vertically. Late 1964 also saw the introduction of the 3-speed transmission.

I like your Mom!!! Through the '70's it was not the usual for women to get any service on a showroom floor unless their husband or father was with them. I still get ignored in some auto related situations!!! Your Mom was so right by driving across the street!! Thanks for sharing her story, Jerry!! Thanks for the details of the evolution of the '63 and '64. As good as the Hydromatic was, the Turbo 400 was a bulletproof transmission. Thank You for subscribing, too!!!!😊

The 58 and 59 Cadillac had the gas cap behind the tail light for sure !! Not sure about the others
@carshowreporter
@carshowreporter 3 месяца назад
The '58 had the filler cap behind the left taillight, the '59 had it hidden behind a panel in the center of the trim just below the trunk lid. Cadi hid the filler behind the lights for the first time in '49 . Thanks for bringing this bit of trivia up, Brent.

Hooray! I haven't seen one of your videos in a while, although I am subscribed. Your video of a Cadillac car-meet depicts some of my favorite cars of all time. I particularly loved the 1962 Cadillac Fleetwood which had a feature unique to Cadillac in the sixties, that I have always loved: Power rear vent windows!
@carshowreporter

Welcome " back ", Parkependleton!! Ahhh, the years before standard air conditioning!!! Those vent windows really worked well, especially when equipped with rear ones.

You are the first to get this, Daniel. Extra points for using the correct name, too. It was not a " Plymouth Valiant ", just Valiant.
@danielulz1640
@danielulz1640 3 месяца назад
@@carshowreporterthat is correct. It also had the new slant six engine. Whereas a standard size 1960 Plymouth or Dodge had a generator and a flat head, upright, straight six!

The wagon was built on a Park Avenue .. which was a "bobtail" Cadillac for "63, basically a de ville with 7 inches chopped of the rear quarter/ trunk area and measuring 215 inches instead of 222 . Marketed from 62 to 64 .. the Park Ave and Town sedan where Cadillacs answer to luxury car buyers who wanted a little smaller car for city driving or parking/garaging. Turns out nobody wanted a smaller Cadillac .. and they where both gone by 1965.
@carshowreporter
@carshowreporter 3 месяца назад
Thanks for the important details, utjp!! Honestly, I did not know about the Cadillac Park Ave! It was offered from '61 - '63. Very interesting!!!! Wiki: The short-deck hardtop Town Sedan was moved from the De Ville series to the Series 6200, being replaced by a short-deck Park Avenue.[8] In addition all short deck Cadillac models went from being 6-window sedans in 1961 to 4-window sedans in 1962 and 1963.

There must have been people in the late 1950's wondering where car styling was going to end up after the audacious fins of the 59 Cadillac..In some alternate reality we could have had F-35 Lightnings, Saab Viggens, Raptors, Euro-Typhoons negotiating quiet suburban streets by 2020 ....there was probably a sigh of relief when fins began to lower. ''Garages?...oh heck we haven't used that term since 1985, most houses have hangers and jetports attached to them''.

I always thought the Flat top was the Ultimate in 4 dr Hard top Motoring. 100% Visibility! But on a HOT Summer day I wouldn’t want to be inside of one even with A/C it still had to be an Oven inside.

Bill Mitchell called the 1960 fins "sanitized." Don't recall any 59-62 Cadillacs in the 'hood. Silver Cloud George's wife, Queen Mary, bought a 1965 Calais sedan, after her beloved 1955 series 62 got creamed by an oncoming truck. An uncle had a 1961 Sedan DeVille, and my Jr. High girlfriend's father bought a '62 Coupe DeVille as a "second car" in 1966. His primary car was a new Valiant!
@carshowreporter
@carshowreporter 3 месяца назад
I like that term, sanitized ! What a contrast between the Valiant and the '62 DeVille!! I hope Queen Mary did not get to banged up. All of that beautiful chrome and metal on the dash does not look so good when one bounces around upon impact!

Why are the fire extinguishers at the front wheel? I thought American cars only exploded into flames in the movies.
@carshowreporter
@carshowreporter 3 месяца назад
It is an AACA requirement and has been adopted by many other events. Imagine, if, by any chance a fuel line leaks and a spark lights it up, reaching under the front wheel to grab the extinguisher with flames all around!!! In the movies, cars ALWAYS burst into flames and blow up after the hero rescues the lady!! 😉😆
