Yeah Cadric is a ton of fun. I built around him just the other day and I’m so excited to build it in paper. One thing I included in mine that’s very good with Cadric is Birgi, God of Storytelling. She pays for the token making ability for each of your creatures and can save you a ton of mana in the long-run. And since legends can kind of get a tad pricey, she’s one of the best cards in the deck. And I’ll tell you something else, the new Mondrak, Glory Dominus is going to be bonkers in the deck. I preordered it and will be including it in my Cadric deck. I wanted mine to be a token subtheme, and the new boros tokens precon is going to have a few nice additions. I agree with you that this deck is one that will only get better as time progresses. Cadric hasn’t gotten the attention he deserves, though I feel that might change later on when we get more tools for him.
Etali is probably the best thing you can cheat out twice with the ability. And you can use things like Feather + Light Up the Way to bounce cards to recast them and trigger all those abilities again from cheaper creatures/vehicles.
I built a Cadric deck almost immediately as soon as I saw him in the spoilers. The very first thing I thought of and what I built the deck around: *Sundial of the Infinite.* Go to your end step, put the Sacrifice triggers on the stack, then End your Turn and exile the triggers off the stack, letting you keep the token copies permanently. I do like the idea of using Ellyn Harbeeze, I didn't know that card exists but she sounds like a really nice inclusion and I'm going to try to find a slot for her. A couple of other suggestions for the deck, that work really nicely with Sundial but don't need it: *Ragavan, Nimble Pilferer.* Use the Dash cost every time, get the Cadric trigger every time, double up on your treasure generation and card advantage. *Yoshimaru, Ever Faithful.* A 1/1 dog that gets a +1/+1 counter for every legendary ETB, including the token copies you're making. That's 2 counters each time. That doggy gonna be huge. *Magda, Brazen Outlaw.* Even if only the token copy swings, that's 2 treasures right there, plus Cadric is a Dwarf as well so if he swings on the same turn that's 4 treasures. *Harmonic Prodigy.* Double up your Wizard commander's triggers, so turn "Pay 1, make a copy" into "Pay 2, make 2 copies". Also works with Rionya and Delina if you're running them. *Bennie Bracks, Zoologist.* Similar function to Ellyn Harbreeze. On the turn he enters alone, it's "Pay 5, draw 2". *Purphoros, God of the Forge.* Fairly self-explanatory. *Inventor's Fair.* If you have another artifact in your deck you wanna go find, the token copy of this land can do that without having to sac the original. Doesn't even cost extra because the token effectively pays for itself by tapping the original for the 1. I run the boros artifact lands as well to help enable the activation, but your mileage may vary.
I'd like to submit for consideration Abdel Adrian, as for 1 mana per player you can flood your board with 1/1s. 1- nontoken abdel- exile your nontokens. 1a- get a bunch of 1/1s 2 - token abdel - exile nontoken abdel 2a - sack token abdel at endstep, rinse repeat next turn.
I'm surprised you didn't put a Harmonic Prodigy in the list. It sounds like such an auto-include in this... Getting TWO copies for 1 mana is insane. With Anointed Procession in play that's FOUR!
It's 2 copies for 2 mana, not for 1. The second trigger asks you to pay 1 again. Still an incredibly strong inclusion in the deck, though, I would consider it an auto-include.
Thinking about putting this guy in my Duke Ulder Ravengard deck; without the Duke, the idea for it is just to be a combination of Boros blink and overrun/beatdown, so this guy'd let me do some fun stuff by giving myriad to other legends already in the deck, which should lead to some fun plays (Give Elesh Norn myriad and get a one-sided boardwipe w/ an insane anthem? Give Purphoros myriad, swing with him, and use Ephemerate on a Myr Battlesphere or something before the tokens go away? Do stupid damage by giving Gisela, Blade of Goldknight myriad? Sign me up!) buuuut there's a good chance it's too narrow for the deck; it would be SUUUPER fun to get a copy of the Duke after removal and give something funny double-myriad though :P Edit; THE SECOND I SAY THAT HE BRINGS UP THE DUKE
@@osilencerl3751very good actually so it's still in my deck box even when I've been cutting down from 14 to 7 decks :-) I find it a fun deck which has a very wide play variety over multiple games. It's only strong in the late game so I play plenty of removal to survive that long. I did cut a few of the more niche cards that weren't very impactful, especially for card draw and ramp. The LOTR set has also brought a lot of cool and interesting "legendary tribal" support which I used to make the deck even more fun. What's also nice that in my playgroup it's a bit on the lower end of the power level. So mostly I get left alone as the poor boros player and they also find it fun to play against because it's kindof the underdog and I can have some epic late games turns. So yeah all in all it's definitely a stay for me so huge thanks to Demo and the channel. Hope this info is helpful for you and feel free to ask more.
hey demo u have missinterpreted the aurelia. If u attack with both of them in the first combat your creatures(except aurelia cause vigilance) will be tapped because the trigger doesnt untap them at the beggining of the combat but right away im not shaming you or anything just wanted to point that out, otherwise really strong deck i think
I don’t know if anyone else mentioned it (or if he does, haven’t finished video) but Determined Iteration has to target a Creature Token. So planeswalkers, enchantments, etc. will not work with it unless you have a way to make it a creature in addition to its other types. Js.
I've tested a cadric deck online already and it has a decent amount of card draw for boros, some cards that you didnt mention that I also feel like fit really well. mirror march, this card makes token copies of legendary creatures that enter too and you can abuse this pretty good with your commander Magda, this commander is a dwarf so when the hasty magda enters and you tap her you get 2 treasures and when your commander attacks you get 2 more treasures, this can get out of hand if you have a few more dwarfs on board. The wandering emperor is also a really good planeswalker for this commander. You flash her on on your opponent's end step and activate both of their abilities twice, that could potentiall be 2 2/2 vigilances for just 1 extra mana.
the Strake copy would stick on the battlefield tho. because it's no longer under your control you can't sacrifice it, since you can't sacrifice permanents you do not control.
Just checked the Comprehensive Rules on this, confirmed. "701.17a: To sacrifice a permanent, its controller moves it from the battlefield directly to is owner's graveyard. A player can't sacrifice something that isn't a permanent, or something that's a permanent they don't control." This can get confusing because Starke CAN be used to great effect in Rionya, Fire Dancer decks. Rionya's end step trigger exiles the tokens rather than sacrificing them, so she gets around this rule. Humble Defector is used in the same way.
@@Randoman590 yeah but with Humble Defector the game becomes a massive shit show so I still run it in my kiki-jiki tool box deck because what's more fun than having 5 Humble Defector copies being past around all game?
Valakut exploration is already a pretty good card but with this it can be a cool way to get card advantage in a boros deck. Boros struggles with card advantage the most (unless you draw skullclamp)
In my opinion the new Ratadrabik of Urborg is a way stronger. It creates a token of any legendary creature whenever it dies instead of etb and the tokens themself dont count as legendary. Here you can just destroy/exile Cadric and youll deal with all additional tokens you made with Annointed Procession/Populate. Theres also a ton of death triggers in black that you get access to and together with Teysa Karlov it gets broken real quick. Cadric seems cool but if were going with Legendary tokens Ratadrabik just seems 10x better imo
Not way stronger if Ratadrabik is at all. They seem similar but have some large differences. The haste the Cadric tokens have is a bit of a strength boost. Cardic makes copies of legendary "permanents" there is some neat stuff to be done with lands and artifacts. So while death triggers are strong Cadric has more versatility and its much stronger cuz that iky drab rat is limited to creatures.
Personally, I don't like Cadric as a commander. I used to play Yarok and I fear Cadric will suffer from the same issue where he makes your sequencing predictable because you almost always have to play your commander first inorder to be effective. You either need to cast your commander early and hope he sticks around or you have to wait until you've built up enough mana to cast everything in one turn. He also makes your big payoff cards like Etali, Elesh Norn and Drakuseth (who are already expensive) cost 1 more and ramping is something Boros already struggles with. Not trying to be a downer but I think it's something worth considering before one spends the money building this.
