It's a good thing Caesar never found 40K manuals or Horus Heresy novels instead of roman history books. Not even an entire army of NCR rangers would have been able to stop that monstrosity.

Did you know? The faction "Caesars Legion" from the videogame "Fallout New Vegas" was so popular it inspired historians to create a fictional ancient country after it

You missed a couple of important details. Firstly, seniority *is* important within the Legion hierarchy. Legionaries who survive 10 years of service within Caesar's armies become Veterans. Some of the soldiers remark that the Legion is pulling in veterans from Arizona towards the endgame to contrast the bullet-eating, napalm-spitting Ranger Vets from Baja. Secondly--and this is a significant element of the Legion--Caesar's philosophy, which is derived from Hegelian Dialectics. He acknowledges that his violent cult of backwards savages aren't fitting as inheritors of Rome, which is why he needs war with the NCR and Vegas as his capital. Conflict between the two cultures will force a synthesis, birthing a new, enlightened society with the strengths of both and weaknesses of neither. Finally, there's a separation between slaves in the Legion and subjects. For example, a merchant who lived in Legion territory wouldn't be a slave. In fact, he wouldn't be part of the Legion's hierarchy at all. I guess that's part of the appeal; Caesar lets you go about your business and there's virtually no threat from raiders or hostile wildlife. Cattle ranchers aren't being extorted by the Brahmin barons, either. The flip-side is that you basically have no choice but to comply with Caesar's demands, or end up on a cross. And while it's not really important, at the end of the day, a Legion-allied female Courier is recognized for her achievements and still ends up getting her face emblazoned on the Aureus. So while the Legion is largely hostile towards women, there *are* exceptions... if Caesar wishes. Ave, True to Caesar!

I'm not going to say it

The legion actually reminds me more of the Mongol Empire than the Roman one. A collection of largely primitive tribes merged together under a brilliant and brutal warlord founding and quickly expanding a massive and deadly empire, only for it to begin to collapse after it's founder's death.

...and then you scroll down and see that 95% of the comments are "Ave, true to ceasar" It's times like these when I love the internet

I know that the conduct of Caesars legion is barbaric by contemporary morality But... Desperate times, call for desperate measures. I mean seriously all jokes aside, in the kinda situation that the world is in in fallout, you listen to Caesar and you fucking get EVERYTHING. Everything is deliberate, Caesar isn't just a greedy dictator, he's an ideologue.

I just wanted to thank you guys for the videos you produce. The production value is extremely good, and the videos are usually around 10 minutes long yet they perfectly explain what they're about.

Awesome job as always, Templin Institute! Can’t wait to see you guys get to the Institute, Children of Atom, SCP Foundation, & other great factions across fiction. Have a lovely evening!

To your untrained eyes, it may look as though mankind is making a comeback. In the NCR, you have something that resembles a nation state. Savage as it is, in Caesar's Legion, you have an organized society. But neither of these offer a future. They're regurgitations of the past.

Just a note: during the first battle for Hoover Dam, NCR didn't flee - they routed. It was to be expected from Hanlon that the dam was untenable, and as such the whole point from NCR became to bleed the Legion at Boulder City. They were counting on staging a retreat and being followed, all the while sniping at Legion command staff.

This is why I'm subscribed to your Channel, you know how to end things well, especially if that war war never changes, but at the same time that was short simple and sweet. A lot of people I watch take about 30 minutes to about an hour just to explain every detail but this only took minutes. The premiere was at 12 it is now 12: 15 my time so that only took about 15 minutes compared to what I normally watch. I can't wait for the next video I can't wait for the next universe that we're going to learn about let alone its factions. I'm still really sad and about the death of Stan Lee but who isn't and I really hope the Templin Institute does a Marvel video sometime in the near future maybe something on the X-Men or origins of Shield if you already have those videos I'll definitely look into them but in honor of Stan Lee I know you will find something for his memory and I know it'll just as be as great as your previous videos including this one. Knowledge is power and you have all the knowledge therefore in my opinion you have all the power in this chapter of Mojave. Can't wait for the next video keep keeping us informed and have a great day :)

Out of all the factions, the Legion sounds the most fearsome. In-game they're kinda pushovers, but in reality, I'd be awfully intimidated. I just can't tolerate a society that would treat me like subhuman for simply existing.

Caesars legion vs NCR is still the best fallout setting. It makes new vegas feel like a real dangerous wasteland and battlefield for the two major faction. I do hope bethesda use this setting again in future fallout games.
