We had come to my neighbour Shobha Fernandes' new Cafe Nosto to try out my new GoPro camera, which I had bought to record my treks. Maria, Jaya, Roma and I wanted to support Shobha's new effort, and we made a video of our visit just for a lark
Then, hundreds of people started watching the video, which soon became thousands. And this channel shifted rapidly from Lesley in the Himalayas to Lesley in Goa. Home sweet home. All thanks to Nosto.

From then to now, Cafe Nosto’s menu has only grown. Everyone knows prawn rissois, but it is only at Nosto that you’ll get the most delicious crab rissois. You'll also find beef croquettes and patties, chicken fingers, my favourite chicken Kiev balls, chicken spring rolls and kebabs, cheese pockets and much more.
Besides these snacks, Nosto also does breakfast items like bhaji pao, Sunday specials like prawn bhaji, idli sambhar and sannas, fries, brownies with ice cream and much more
This cafe is family run by Shobha’s always smiling daughter Twinkle, and her husband Rohan. Shobha, who is a fantastic cook, also does catering. We have tried her superb beef biryani, alsande tonnak, veg kurma and Kerala beef fry.
Cafe Nosto has become a lovely, jolly spot in our neighbourhood in Benaulim’s Pulvaddo. It’s located right next to St John the Baptist church, and opens early for those emerging hungry from mass. It’s a well done space, popular for kids’ birthday parties. It’s lovely hanging out here with one’s closest friends. Eating, sipping, chatting and, of course, gossiping.
What we are having are just the daytime treats at Nosto. In the evening, they have even more items, like tongue rolls, cafreal bread and chops
The folks at Cafe Nosto are our friends. They have been lucky for us, and they say we have been lucky for them. I think, it’s their superb food which brings them luck. Do drop by here if you want something better and tastier than usual.
