That is REAL Matt. Ive known him my whole life. Met in 7th grade and was friends all though High School. Greenwood High School Bowling Green Kentucky. Haven't seen him in years though. But that's the real Matt....hes not crazy and wild like on stage. Its just a show. I know Brad very well too. Brad was more of a party animal. Great guys. Matt does draw really good too. i have a picture he drew for me in 7th grade of a world war 2 combat scene. Him and Brad used to invite me over to play guitar all the time and I never would go. I played country music and didn't know how to play their kind of rock. I probably should have went lol. But i don't guess a hillbilly like me would have made a good band member lol
@@StaceyB. well I don't care much for their music lol. I'm a country boy from Kentucky and their music is a bit " weird " to me. But yea I'd love to see my old friends again. I have a very unique name so they would immediately know who I am if I could ever get through to them. I tried before but it's impossible. I want Matt to do a country song with me. I have a deep voice so we would be like johnny cash and Bob Dylan singing together 😂. I think it would be great!
@@johnroberts5500 back in high school Matt and brad had their band but they weren't stars yet. Matt talked about it some but not a whole lot. Kinda quiet about it actually. He did bring a CD to class one time and play some of their home recordings. But it wasn't until after HS that they got a hit . I think it was the ain't no rest for the wicked song . I liked it but their new stuff has got a bit weird for me lol. But I support them anyway and glad to see old friends succeed. I think Matt has had some drug problems that worry me. I wish he would come back to Kentucky and reconnect with his roots and old friends again. It's good for the soul. The real Matt Shultz isn't the crazy guy you see on stage. He's a quiet , polite, and well mannered. I'll tell ya a good one though lol. He's only been in 1 fight that im aware of and it's on VIDEO. It was Matt and a guy named Brad Easely. I don't remember what it was about but it went on so long that they had to take breaks in between lol. They went 3 or 4 rounds and nobody really won. But in 7th grade it was epic battle lol. The whole thing was on tape and it would be hilarious if someone came up with it 😂
@@JohnnyRebKy That is really cool to know part of their history. You have a big heart.I also like country music. There are no rules in liking music.Maybe you can make some of your own music and people will like it then they will say."Hey I know that guy"Lol .Thanks for sharing your memories.
He’s so adorable haha. He’s both extremely self aware and emotionally intelligent. Glad I came across this interview. Can’t wait to listen to new material by CTE! 🖤🖤🖤
That is the real Matt. I've known him and his brother brad since 7th grade. I did a lot of partying with Brad in high school but Matt wasn't the party type. He was always weird and awkward like this but In a good way. So yea this interview is the real Matt I remember. Wish I could get a hold of him and catch up some. We are class of 2002 Greenwood High school
The crowd doesn't even fancy him. It raises a lot of questions. For example, "Does the audience even know the band or the lead singer?" Omitting the obvious exceptions (the people that asked him valid questions).
LOVE that he's making fun of people who are competitive about music. It's art, not a competition. The singer for a band I used to love called The Mars Volta once said that you're wrong if you don't think music is a competition. Well if it's a competition you're losing pretty badly because you guys put out ONE good record and the rest was garbage so..... Every one of Cage the Elephants records has been amazing though.
I know what you mean but I actually love it. He's super fun and silly, yet honest and intense in this one. He seems lighter/brighter than I've seen in interviews in years too, which is really cool. I lost it a little at 7:15, because I noticed his expression right before he made a joke about it. I think he's pretty self aware and embracing being himself and how big a spectrum that is (which he touches on near little end).
@@rafaelmoran6777 "We've just received word that the drug makes someone act quite silly and makes the user provide profound answers to ordinary questions." Lol.
