Christisn Laetner made the team as a symbolic way to put the best college player on the team. 92 was the the first year of pros but to honor all the past amateur Olympic teams they left one spot opening for solely the best college player and it was between him and shaq and they went with laetner

Caitlin Clark is #4 in assists, #17 in scoring, #6 in 3-pointers and #14 in steals. How is that NOT a top 15 player in the WNBA?

An actual case could be made that she actually is one of the top 12-15 players in the league...she's top 15 in pts, top 4 in assists, top 15 in steals, etc...thats in the league NOT among rookies. She averages more points than 4-5 players THAT MADE the Olympic Team.

Christian Laetner wasn’t an NBA player at that time. He was the plus one college player that was allowed on the team because that was the transition from college players to pro players. He was the best college player at that time having won 2 national Championships and even Shaq acknowledged Christian Laetner deserve to be there more than he did because he was a better college player.

Caitlin Clark is the Most Valuable Person in WNBA history. 1997 -2023 thousands of players owners and WNBA personnel drove franchises to bankruptcy and lost millions of dollars annually. Caitlin Clark has made millions for all franchises increasing tv viewerships and attendances and raising ticket prices to all her games. She is more valuable than Aja Wilson, more valuable than Cathy Englebert.

Last season, the league implemented a charter system for the postseason. Teams were also permitted to fly charter during back-to-back sets - a phenomenon that will be more prevalent in an Olympic year like 2024. Last year's program cost the league $4.5 million. Stewart in particular has been among the league's loudest critics when it comes to the topic of charter flights. Just last year, she offered to be part of a deal to subsidize charter travel for the entire league. She drew praise from numerous sources, including Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.

They should quietly admit that they were wrong, heavily pay off the current number 12, including a signed NDA, and now say that Caitlin is in as the alternate.

IMO, Clark is one of the top-5 women players in the world and certainly the best perimeter shooter out of all women in basketball. The percentages won't tell you this, but how opposing teams defend her with 3/4 court press and double team trap at the corner to force her to give up both any "logo shot" or "drive to the hoop" tells you everything. NO OTHER WBNA PLAYER is guarded like this. NONE. She's guarded like that because she's the best offensive player in the WNBA and they all know it. The players know it. The coaches know it. If they didn't devize these "Jordan Rules" or "Caitlin Rules", she would be dropping bombs and setting scoring records right away out of college like she did when she set the NCAA scoring record. So, don't say she's not one of the "top-15" players. She is. The defenses tell you she is. The game plan of the defense tells you she is.
