The only time she gets open looks is on those step back 3's. Nothing is being run to get her open and away from the double teams. If you watch the games, the other girls are getting wide open shots with Caitlin's passes, but she seldom gets the ball back. Especially with one particular player who it seems is more worried about personal stats than a team win.
Sides doesn't want CC to take shots so she isn't getting any rhythm. They either need to fire Sides or trade CC to a team that will let her play her game. Sides just wants layups and short 2's.
@@kyleelsbernd7566 Nope, intercepting lazy passes is not defense, its being in the right place at the right time. I think we are talking about lock down D.
@@jeffransom4839 adjusting to the speed and range/reach to coverage happens at every level change - hs to college, college to pros... you get a sense of that as time progresses and you up your game in little ways as you watch film - it's generally just knowing to focus on that crispness, speed and making visual connections (on passing) with the recipient so they know to come to you or flash - because it's coming and it's coming hard. She's done pretty well on defense on anticipating those passes or scrambling and taking advantage of them, so it is defense... I'm going to say by the second half of the season, she'll be getting way more assists and steals... when the assists move up, defensive coverage (doubling) will decrease and her shooting percentage will go up as well. She's pretty smart, she'll adjust.
Clark is trying to play professional basketball the same way she played in college. by the end of the year she will learn. She might want to ask someone what defense is.
as a lifelong fever fan (really just since tamika lol but born and raised in indy), i’m glad i enjoy her complete game and not just the shots…. makes this this season as fun as possible. the future is bright tho plus even tho she had a terrible shooting night, her subtle celebrations are great 🤣
