In this cake photography tips and tricks video tutorial you will learn how to use natural light to your advantage as well as some tips on using box lights and photographing your cakes in nature. You'll also see how I use PicMonkey to edit the photos for use on social media. There is a special message to you from me personally in the beginning of this regarding our current global situation. I do have a recommendation for a stress relief method that I have been using for years. It's called The Tapping Solution. I hope you're doing well. If you need some stress relief I recommend trying "The Tapping Solution" .They have a free app. I use it and have been using tapping for years as a way to deal with life's challenges. Hi Nettie. So sorry it took me this long to answer your question. I always double all the ingredients. So I would just ignore that other stuff. I never have a problem with it. This is very helpful. I made some very beautiful cakes in the past but didn't didn't stood out due to poor lighting and background. Thank you Lorelie, I love your channel and I love your vintage decorated cakes. I hope you'll make more vintage/retro decorated cakes tutorial in the near future .

Thanks Michele. LOL. Do you use the method as well? I started with almost nothing too. I have used curtains, black felt in the beginning was cool. Light box that I made myself. All kinds of angles, lights etc. After all of that ...my fave is the natural light with the marble top. But that window is new. The old one didn't let in the correct amount of light. I got lucky there. Ironically I had to do some tapping today and it helped so much. I also use it to help with sleep. As soon as the tapping starts I relax and start yawning. LOL Take care xo

What a nice surprise to find this video in my inbox. I'm getting ready this morning to apply some Russian tipped flowers (first time ever) on top of the p ractice cake I made for my husband and myself. The cake itself rather rough but it's the flowers I want to play with after watching one of your videos. Now to watch this latest helpful video!...got the app you suggested (tapping)...love all the ideas you gave on lighting and backdrops. Excellent!

Thank you Ingrid. Have fun. It sounds like you are. Ironically I had to use the tapping technique today to help relieve some nausea that I was experiencing (comes with sinus pain) And I have to say it helped immensely. No more nausea. It takes some practice and then becomes quite automatic. Enjoy! Especially good for helping to sleep.

Thank you so much for these great tips, and for such a calming video! I have a large kitchen, but it's a sort of odd layout, with not much natural light. So if I want to take a photo of a cake, I place it on a table in front of the living room bay windows - wonderful light there! I just have to get close enough to the cake so no one can tell I had to take the photo in my living room. lol As for how I'm dealing with the stress of all that's going on now, I pray a lot. But I still get emotional, so I let myself cry when I feel the need. But fortunately, that's not real often. I've been doing some baking, and plan to do more. I made my husband a white chocolate raspberry cake with a 'hybrid' frosting of Russian buttercream/white chocolate ganache for his birthday last week (combined the Russian buttercream with white chocolate ganache - it's delicious!). I read and watch movies, but when I don't feel like doing that, or going on Facebook and connecting with others there (and reading more depressing news about the pandemic), I have my favorite 'go to' for calm and peace, which is your videos, even the ones I've already seen (I save them in my RU-vid library). Your voice is the most soothing, calming voice I've ever heard. And watching you work, making such beautiful cakes is also calming to me, including the 'reruns' of yours I've already watched and saved. ;-) Stay safe, thank you for the videos, and God bless!
