To clarify the pricing, I was looking at the wrong sizing for the one that I have; it actually retails for $140 Canadian. Much more reasonable! However, upon reflection, if I did want to photograph larger cakes then the one in the description may be better suited for this, but it would take up A LOT of space. Cheers! 🥰
Lol...! So relatable. I use natural light for my photography too. But it comes so well...... Thank you so much for this tip Ashley!!!!!! you deserve more😍🥰🤩 !!!!!!!
Your always a mind reader lol thank you for the honest feedback!! I definitely like the counter pics but there's always a time and a place for different style of photos.
I use the shotbox from Micheals! Only $100 and $20 for different backgrounds! It's taken my cookies to the next level and it fold up for storage between cookie sets. 😍
I do! Check out my fb buisness page, sweet Dtreet Treats. I've been struggling taking photos of large cakes so it's usually me holding a background! Didn't have time to take pretty photos of today's orders. I was rushing to get them out the door! ❤😂
I purchased the We R Memory Keepers shotbox (and the backdrops) and use the Adobe camera app with the food filter on. I have had excellent results for photos but the lighting looks a LOT different from that light box. Its not as harsh. It’s not as big but I don’t do a lot of three tier cakes. I also don’t have any light spots in my house because of the wall of trees our neighbor planted dooming us to a life in the shadows. For me it was an absolute life saver but after seeing this I’m glad I didn’t invest in the bigger one. Thanks for the run down!
I’m sure I’m just also not very good at using it 😂😂 definitely will take more cracks at it for flat things, but I’ve given up on tall cakes!! I’m lucky I have some good lighting spots-just have to make sure I stay on top of the schedule to avoid darkness!
This may seem super basic and stupid, but how do you decide on an frosting color if it darkens so much as it sits? If you make them and then let them set to be sure, how far in advance do you make the frosting? Same with cakes?
I would start by colouring it just a little at first, let it rest covered and then mix to see if it’s the right saturation for you! An hour does the trick for me.
@@SweetDreamsBakeShoppe perfect. Thank you! I’m chronically ill and have been homebound. I’m hoping to get strong enough this summer to try opening part time in the fall!
So glad you did a review of this light box! I also prefer natural lighting, but found it difficult to get great photos in the fall/winter. It was so frustrating to shoot because of all the extra work to get decent lighting, esp. with a shorter time frame for natural lighting. I’d love to learn more about how to mimic natural lighting with other alternatives. Def requires more intensive research and trial & error, but I know it’ll pay off! Check out “Fig and Light” and “The Bite Shot” for food photography tutorials if you’d like to dig deeper.
Try using a blue or yellow tissue paper on the top to diffuse the light in more natural color not just led bright white you can also just purchase a big poster board and get cheap lamps and also add tissue paper around them to diffuse
@@SweetDreamsBakeShoppe yes and it also might help to have your phone settings changed to the type of lighting you take a picture in,that effects an image just as much as when you have a real camera !
