A commonly prescribed class of medication for high blood pressure is one that acts to block a particular receptor called the calcium channel. These medicines can be useful to lower high blood pressure and to relieve a symptom of blockages of the heart arteries, a condition called angina. They are well tolerated but in some individuals, swelling of the feet, ankles and legs may be observed. Professor Barlis talks about this class of medicine in greater detail. Thank you to all viewers for supporting the channel!
