This video is part of a new series of #shorts I am making about aviation about bite-size aviation topics. I hope you enjoy them and would love other topic ideas!
Visit my website at www.theaviationvault.com to learn much more about aircraft dispatchers, airlines, and dispatch history!
Learn more about LeTourneau University's aviation program at www.letu.edu/fly or about our all-online Aviation Studies degree program at bit.ly/AviationOnline.
Always remember that Laura, when you get right down to it, is just a pilot and a dispatcher. She is explaining facts from the source materials but may be incorrect or out of date. You should always follow your primary guidance (Aircraft manuals, government regulations, etc.) before listening to anything from this RU-vid channel. These videos are intended for educational purposes only.

Wait so take the cg, multiply by the weight, divide by the weight =cg?
@LauraLaster747
@LauraLaster747 4 месяца назад
You take the location of the item, multiply by the weight, and that give you the moment for that one item. You then add up all the moments, add up all the weights, divide the total moment by the total weight to get the CG.

What does Arm mean? the topdown surface of your plane? Im designing my own waterplane in Fusion360 and need to find out where the CG is but I have no clue what Arm means. Thanks haha
@LauraLaster747

Hello! The arm is the distance between a location in the airplane and the datum (reference point that the manufacturer has established).

Does this same formula work with helicopters as well?
@LauraLaster747
@LauraLaster747 2 года назад
Honestly, I am not a helicopter pilot and have never flown helicopters. However, it is my understanding that the concepts still apply to helicopters. Of course, following the manufacturer's guidance is critical so do review manuals and the examples for making calculations related to helicopters.

How to find the value for arm ?
@LauraLaster747
@LauraLaster747 10 месяцев назад
Thanks for watching! The arm will be provided by the manufacturer of the aircraft. If it is an FAA test question, the arm will be included somewhere in the figure provided with the problem.
