I'd go with invented, although it is used to explain a lot of the phenomenon that we've discovered in the physical world. What do you think?

@@drjitutoring Coined. That's my preferred neutral term, on the discovered vs invented debate. Mathematical concepts are coined. The notation and terminology is invented, but the underlying behavior of the patterns in mathematics is discovered.
