@23StudiosSports Justin Fields had a higher completion percentage, a higher passer rating, a higher qbr, and his average yards per rush were over three times higher than Caleb's. Just stop 😆
@@thrgg Talk about some nit picked stats from a COVID SEASON. Fields threw more picks in 4 less games as well… If you take into account the supporting cast for both too…
ive been going back and comparing prospects, watching old draft tape, etc etc. Caleb Williams on tape has the most translatable skillset to play at an extremely high level in the NFL he’s like slightly shorter Aaron Rodgers in terms of arm talent (i think he’s that good). Personality wise theyre kinda in the same vein too (lol) not everyone’s cup of tea but super talented. As for the other prospects, i love Maye’s potential but his game is loose and sloppy. Jayden Daniels has nice tape too but his build and running decisions scare me. JJ McCarthy i think will be the second best qb in this draft his tape is so damn solid and he’s gonna have the best coach outta all these guys most likely, his footwork is clean, he struggles with the deep ball a little but i think with reps he can fix that and underrated trait i love his character too. Nix seems like a career backup. and I like Penix his arm talent jumps out on tape the most but it seems like everything needs to be going perfectly for his game to prosper he’s kinda like your second ace on a baseball team, one night he might have 15 strikeouts and the next he’s pulled by the 5th inning.. im really not sure but id take a flyer on him in the 2nd round
Only qb that will do good and stay on the team that drafted him is Caleb stop the bs narrative of the jj boy and the maye boy no one is gonna outshine Caleb period they didn’t do it I. College so why would it happen in the league. Make it make sense!!
McCarthy will be a búst. Has zero anticipation skills. Struggled against Bama and Maryland. The natty is a shiny badge on him, good for him, but if the team was as hot and cold as he was, they would’ve won 8 games.
I typed "Caleb Williams in-structure highlights" on RU-vid and saw once he has the consistent protection, not holding onto the ball, and better ball security, he has the potential to be successful.
11:23 The fact he had do deal with BS like this from his OL with even a chip from the RB and still is one of the best prospects in recent years is insane. How is it practically 6 versus 3 in pass protection and he's running for life?
What I noticed with Caleb is that the middle of field he’s a sniper however for fades on the outside on a go ball he tends to overshoot or underthrow the receiver !
Yeah I noticed that as well. Although I think that'll improve in the NFL bc the dropbacks will be timed up better with the routes. The air raid offense is way too loosy Goosy and their perimeter talent is average on top of it. Shane Wauldron shouldn't have a hard time getting Caleb to put it all together. Especially with his work ethic and desire to be great. But ya I would imagine if Caleb was throwing to Nabers and Brian Thomas that a good amount of those overshots are brought in
Normally programs rebuilds I would guess take 3 to 4 seasons for the HC to get his full blueprint on it. Lincoln Riley going in year 3, and they had to fire their DC last year because their entire defense is so bad starting from upfront. 2 of Caleb WRs and OL were also taken in the 6th & 7th rounds. His best WR during his Heisman year was former Pittsburgh transfer Jordan Addison, and they don't even have a consistent TE. Their RB went in the 3rd round higher than projected. USC isnt a powerhouse just yet, gotta wait on the next recruiting and transfer portal classes.
This kid is special. The only downsides I see to his game is ball security, bad play action, and slight tendency to stare down reads. Other than that, he's the best QB prospect since Luck
Caleb's edge over Daniels rn is just pocket presence (he has a lil more arm strength too).. He is comfortable being uncomfortable back there and this is with a bad OL, and no top 5 WRs.. and he keeps his eyes down the field to make plays.. the bad plays frm Caleb came frm personnel issues and him trying to be superman.. Watching Daniels tape, a lot of the sacks he took was because he stared down reads/held the ball too long and I wouldnt say hes a run first guy frm watching the tape even tho he had 1k yrds rushing, Daniels just has to be good at knowing when the run is there and taking it without hesitation (gotta be able to protect and get down when in the open field too)... Both of these kids are good and will be ready day one.. You just have to put weapons around them and watch them grown into their game.. After that I got 3. Penix (Not worried about Injuries rn everyone gets hurt its a part of the game) 4. JJ 5. Maye.. JJ and Maye are interchangeable, somebody from this class will be a bust we wont know until their careers start, they all have talent, I think it comes down to what situation fits them the best, and who has the better team around them early in their careers...
lol Daniels is 3 years older and had 2 elite first round drafted receivers he was throwing to Williams best receiver was a seventh round pick and he doesn’t have 5 years as. Starter like Daniel’s. And Daniel’s will get killed in the NFL running like he did in college with his 200 lb body
Honestly, came away a bit underwhelmed with William's tape. While I don't think USC had a strong team or offensive line around him, some things really stood out to me: 1. He has happy feet, his footwork isn't always sound and doesn't keep his body square 2. While he he's not slow, he's not exactly fast or big. NFL defenses aren't letting him by them. 3. He can throw on the run, however he has a tendency to overthrow receivers outside the numbers which makes him susceptible to turnovers. 4. Not many tight window throws in this tape...will be interesting to see how he does against nuanced NFL defenses. 5. He struggled against top 25 competition, processes & decision making was slow against Utah. I might be judging him too harshly, he does have arm talent but I don't see a generational prospect here
5 minutes of this and I can tell you right now why Caleb's numbers weren't as good as they were in 2022 on one part! I don't have enough fingers and toes to count the times his receivers ran the laziest routes. I've never seen receivers jogging on a route; clear route or decoy route, I don't care, it's terrible!
honestly caleb didnt run this offense effectively and as we seen in the bowl game after his backup threw for 6TDS its a actually a good offense. Caleb struggles with zone matchups all his completions are against man… and he struggles at times to recognize it on time most passes are late but his arm makes up for it! Still has alot of learning to do so hes gonna need a really good OC and head coach…i dont think the bears have that but i could be wrong🤷🏽♂️
USC fan here that’s watched all of their games the last 5 years. Miller Moss’s performance in the bowl game isn’t really a fair comparison. USC shuffled around their OL going into the bowl game and it made a big difference in pass protection. Also the offensive personnel was different as they played a lot of their talented young WRs that didn’t get opportunities early in the year. Finally, Louisville’s defense sold out to stop the run and gave Moss a ton of single high/cover 0 which Caleb rarely saw as most teams were determined to stop the pass when Caleb was starting. Moss had a ton of single coverage and could just toss up 1v1 jump balls with no safety over top which is how he ended up with 6 TDs. Caleb saw way more 2 deep and quarters and teams were determined not to give up the deep and intermediate passing game against him.
He’s going to struggle. His game was either quick throw here or extended plays in which the defense takes bad angles , those quick throws aren’t going to be there in the nfl he’s gonna have to read the field frfr and as far as him extending plays he better start sliding or something cause most de are running 4.4-4.5 so everything’s gonna be faster I hope I’m wrong his game reminds me of mariota or Zach Wilson fr & count how many times he threw off the wrong foot that’s not flying in the nfl
.. "steal of the draft" ??? at 8?? your logic suggests Pennix will basically be a HOF player... example. Brady was steal... Purdy was steal... not a QB at 8 with injury history, a rookie at 24 years old..
I think that Danials and Penex is better than this guy. I looked at all three of their throws and runs for 2023. This guy is really sloppy with his throwing plays, it’s like he’s just trying different things each down and if it works cool. I didn’t know penex was that good. If I was the Bears, I would trade my first pick and draft Danials or penex. I would stay away from this guy, this stuff that he’s doing in these plays are not going to work in the NFL. He’s going to be a bust. Penex took his team to the championship and Danials won the Heisman, that should tell you something about their game. No one is talking about Michael Penex Jr. in the first round. I saw one mock he went to the 3rd round. Wow! Bears trade down get your haul for your 1st picks, and get Penex he’s the future.
U have no idea how to evaluate qb. Is am talent is beyond insane. He is lunching the ball 50 yards down the field with both feet of the ground with good accuracy. There is a reason Penex won’t be probably drafted in the first two rounds and that is bcos is arm talent is no where near Caleb.
No oline one second rounder maybe as his number one target but he’s not talented. Just like everyone said wembayama was not a generational talent and at 19 he dominated with limited play time. I think Caleb is going to be good if not great when he hits the nfl. Quarterbacks with less talent in the nfl are making these same plays…
Talent wise he’s the top prospect. He’s just so unlikable though. I think a lot of that is the fact he went to usc. Didn’t see any of these antics at OU.
Well you have a bad offensive line and not only that the plays down field still has to form somebody has to come open so your not allowed the time to sit back in the pocket and let the play develop im sure you see on almost every play its someone in the backfield
