Damn that's nice. I planned a California road trip in 2020 pre-world-breaking, and Big Sur was definitely on the list. I missed out on so much fun it seems!
Hopefully you'll be able to do it in 2022! And then by then, the entire highway should be open. You are going to love it! We also have a full California road trip planner too that can help you make some choices of where to go. theplanetd.com/california-road-trip-itinerary/ Have a great time (finger's crossed) later this year or 2022. :)
@@ThePlanetD That's a really cool iteniary! I have some special interests, so I'm adding amusement parks and Vegas etc to my journey, but I think at least half of your spots were already in my plan :D
I was born in Monterey and have visited Big Sur and it's truly *gorgeous* , but it's pretty pricey overall. So I would gas up in Monterey. There's other ways to experience Big Sur for less. Grab a picnic lunch in Monterey at a supermarket deli. If you want to stay overnight, consider camping at one of the many campgrounds at the parks Big Sur!
This long stretch of California is so awesome one has to see it personally to verify its authenticiy. Breathtaking, really. Our family took a vacation where we drove our own car from Louisiana to CA back in '75 (I'm 69 now, so this was a long time ago now.) Seeing this remarkable and dramatic scenary in your own car is the only way to do it. It's so beautiful that it's like out of someone's dream or a painting of beautiful places. Words can't really describe the beauty. You have to experience it and see for yourself to verify that it really is real. The amazing beauty of the California coast in this stretch of beach south of San Francisco is something everyone should treat themselves to at least once in their lives.🤩
