Hi there, I'm a recent subscriber. I've lived in both California and Oregon. They are really hard to compare because the California economy and population are so massive. I prefer Oregon because of its small feel and more charming real estate agents. Both states need to pump more $$ into public education, that's for damn sure.
I heard one of the first things you need to do when moving to OR from CA is to register your car and get rid of the CA plates. A friend told me it was hard to find a job with his CA plates on his car, but once he got rid of them, he found a job
Great video! I would also like to point out one big difference that I don't hear many mention is theme/amusement parks!!! California has an abundance of them... Disneyland and Disney CA, Universal Studios, Six Flags, SeaWorld, Knotts Berry Farm, Raging Waters, the list continues. Oregon has.. Enchanted Forest and Oaks Amusement Park? I mean if you're moving to the PNW, you're doing it more for the outdoorsy activities. But just thought I'd point it out as that's one thing I do miss from CA
Finding rental housing is a serious challenge in Oregon, at least where I live in South Central Oregon. I've been trying to find a larger apartment or house ever since I moved here in 2019. I'm still looking. There are a lot of scammers on Craigslist who try to rent houses they don't actually own. One of the tipoffs is that the supposed owner is not local and states that you'll get the house keys after you send the rent and deposit. DON'T FALL FOR THIS SCAM!
Thank you for your comment. This really is an issue. Several years ago, my wife and I almost sent a deposit on a rental home seen on Craigslist as well. She even called and talked to someone with a local number! It was a near miss for us - I hope nobody ever falls for this.
