Correction: I mention that Call of Cthulhu 7e came out "recently". It actually came out almost a decade ago. No clue where I got the impression that it was super new.

It give us insight into how you feel about things with a PF2 foundation and lets us know a bit more about who you are outside of PF2. Keep it up!

Love to see you cover more non-PF things. I think its great if people have a favorite system like 5e or PF but I think they would benefit from playing other systems. I do not think they'll be converted to diehards of another system but I think theres something in every system we can learn from. Just like an artist who only paints takes classes in say sculpting theres something we can takeaway from how these other systems handle things that we can then apply to our dominant system. FATE, Savage Worlds, Genesys, etc these all provide something different. If you wanna see something even more different check out some diceless systems like the old Deadlands RPG that used poker hands instead of dice rolls

I'm mainly a Cthulhu player, and while it does take a long while, I usually use the optional point buy rules instead. One of the strengths of this system is, while you are playing just humans, you are able to make the character exactly as they are in your brain. Because of the specialization of the skill system, your character will be far different and useful at much different things than another. Everyone feels useful because of this specialization, which is one of the reasons I love this system. So, yeah, point buy all the way for me and my group. Great video as always!

I'm a fan of Upwind: The RPG's system and character creation. Players name all of their character's abilities and decide what effects they have, and all "encounters" are decided with bidding playing cards from your hand and trying to out-bluff the GM to make for a very narrative game. An extra plus is that the setting is all about air ships, sky islands, and teslapunk.

Each one was in a sealed manila envelope with only a simple word on the top: Leader, Support, Brains, etc. We each picked one and he started the set up: You and your companions and traveling in your van on dark and stormy night. You see a strange figure appears in the middle of the road, you swerve to miss them, but end up hitting a tree." I tried CoC and it was not my jam as a system (the themes are pretty good). I think it's too complicated as a system for what it wants to do. For this kind of themes, I prefer lighter rules. Precisely because min maxing doesn't make sense, having so many numbers and mechanics associated with the character is more a burden than a good thing. Still, nice to see you cover more games. TTRPGs get better the more systems you know :)

@@Nonat1s Our CoC GM really made it simple at the table and very very narrative, which was fun. We almost never used the system's crunch... Which further reinforced me that the crunch that CoC was not important for a good gameplay experience, and therefore using a lighter system as Spiralis could be better. I love crunch (I mean, I love Pathfinder2e) but I think in horror specifically, crunch gets in the way.
