This Call of Cthulhu RPG is the seventh version of the game, carrying the tradition of Investigators slowly unraveling mysteries surrounding a cosmic darkness.
The core game is primarily found in the Keeper Rulebook, and additional player/setting info can be found in the Investigator Handbook. For a well-constructed introduction to the rules, the Starter Guide is a great place to start.
NOTE: This game deals with mature themes of mental illness, madness and torment.

The starter set is the free taste of dope from the dealer to get you hooked, I can speak from experience. I haven’t even finished running all the starter scenarios and I’ve already ordered the Keeper book. Great review, great channel!

Very good overview. You really explain the mechanics well. I prefer Delta Green's streamlining and setting myself, but still beautiful books and a great game.

the fumbles start at 100 when the ability is higher than 50, when the ability is lower than 50 it starts at 96 :)

All your reviews give a great overview. Also give a great view into the flavor of the setting and the game mechanics. Only wish I have is that you keep making these videos. I have all notifications on maybe 1-2% of the channels I follow. Yours is one of them. I could have posted this on pretty much any of the 10 reviews I have seen so far. They are all great! Now I want to buy even more TTRPG rule books. :)

Having only ever heard of CoC from friends in my youth, and never having seen the actual game due to a lack of a good game store in our area at the time, now that I’ve found the game I’m really loving it.

Nice review. I have to say, while I do appreciate the aesthetics of the Cthulu mythos, I have a real problem with the underlying premise. Especially the parts dealing with sanity and gaining knowledge. because, you know, gaining knowledge about something removes its mystique and making it less scary, not more. The whole notion of 'forbidden knowledge' is just ridiculous to me. Also, the unknown isn't scary, it might be exciting, or even annoying but it isn't scary. I guess what I'd like to see is a game that's like this but without any of the Hollywood style insanity BS in it.

Idk, I just can't get into this game. Watching this shows me how my DM is messing up and screwing us out of mechanics, but even with all this explanation, I just don't care about this. There's no fun when you don't get more than 1/5 chance to even drive a fucking car.

This game has some of the worst firearms rules I have ever seen in any game, I understand combat is not supposed to be a huge part of the game but it would be nice if the firearms rules made sense or were based even a little bit in real world physics.
