Imagine going to the midnight release for these games to get them on DS.

Back in 2009, I was on a plane playing Call of Duty 4 on Nintendo DS with about 3 other random kids with also brought their Nintendo DS. We all connected and played multiplayer during the whole flight. It was one of my best childhood memories.

When you're an 11 year old on a road trip these were a blessing

At the age of 11 these were all my parents permitted me to play. No regrets.

Actually if you had COD on the DS and brought it to school, it was pretty cool. People would gather around you out of curiosity. I remember doing this twice, the first time was when Black Ops first released and people would watch me play in between classes or at recess. The second time was well afterwards, back in my freshmen year of High School. I got my phone taken away so I brought my old DS and my copy of Call of Duty Black Ops to keep myself busy because we weren't doing anything in particular in any of my classes for whatever reason. Nobody really cared except a couple who were just purely curious. One dude had a nostalgia trip because apparently his only gaming system was the DS and he played Call of Duty on it, but it ended up getting lost. I kind of felt bad after hearing that, not gonna lie...

I was fortunate (or unfortunate) enough to have played the online multiplayer in its hay day. I would play a game with the same people all the time. There was a pretty diehard community for this thing

There were some fun out-of-map glitches on the MW for DS. If I remember correctly you just move against certain walls while crouch spamming.

Multiplayer on these was amazing. Spent hours playing with neighborhood friends.

Never thought I'd say "Yup, that's Call of Duty on the DS", but here we are.

I had some of these growing up and I still swear by them. There's definitely some amount of nostalgia to it, but touch-screen aiming (which I absolutely love), the British campaign in WaW and enemies that don't respawn are all features I missed when replaying CoD on the PS3.

I used to own all of the Call of Duty DS games besides the first one. I remember them being a decent time. Zombies on Black Ops was okay and I used to play one on one multiplayer matches with a friend who also had the games. I eventually sold all of them but I'll always remember them being a quirky little series for the original DS.

Genuinely makes me wonder why Activision hasn’t put CoD on the Switch. The downgrade from 360-> Wii is much bigger than XB1 -> Switch

As someone who plays the Wii version of MW3, I can say this: The game is still booming. How? The servers are run by Activision, not Nintendo. As long as MW3's servers are up, the Wii version will stay, too. We have around 100-300 players daily.

My lil brother had a ds and this was my introduction to call of duty back in 2007.

These games were so fucking dope back in the day. You really gotta wrap your pinky around the back of the DS with your stylus hand to play it right, but when you got it it was a fucking blast.

Modern warfare “2” on the DS was one my first FPS games ever. It’s actually pretty decent, when you’ve never played any other FPS games before

I remember when Modern Warfare 3 was out, I was in my final month of 8th grade and everyone in my school was playing it. I begged and begged and BEGGED my mom to let me buy it (She was still unsure about M rated games at the time) She finally gave in and realized that I was getting older and let me buy the game and. 13 year old me was the happiest lad ever, me and middle school played together for hours and hours, I miss those times

Both Call Of Duty 4 and Call of Duty World At War for the DS will always have a special place in my heart for giving me some needed entertainment as a kid to distract from both of my parents going through cancer treatment.

Man what a throwback. I used to play black ops DS all the time, because unlike all my friends who had Xbox I didn't have one yet. I'll never forget playing BOds multiplayer listening to all American rejects on my iPod classic back in middle school. It was actually quite fun. When my friends would talk about zombies I made the most cringe worthy mistake, I asked "which map? House? Temple? Office?" And they just looked at me puzzled and said "...uh kino DER toten?" Only afterward when I was able to save up money for an Xbox did I realize how far out of the ballpark the Ds version was. Not even in the parking lot. What a memory.

DS emulation: Meh DS emulation on a mac: HOW DARE YOU

Honestly I'm kinda most impressed they managed to pull off local and wifi multiplayer with these things.

Funfact about BO for the ds. Shotguns have somewhat tight spread and infinite range. If you find a shotgun in a map, use it. The ppsh is also very good because spraying and praying is easy with a drum mag. Ooh, also you have literally infinite throwing knives. Another reccomendation for playing this game is that you should use touch screen to look around if you like using automatic weapons. Button controls are easier for me, and the ppsh has low recoil compared to some weapons, so yeah good luck fellow people. This was legitimately my first cod game.

I played a lot of Call of Duty in my childhood, and I’ll be perfectly honest, Mobilized is absolutely iconic and I will forever cherish it.

You have no idea. Oh man, back then, everyone who had a DS at school would be in private matches with their CoD4 DS. It was milestone of gaming for making handheld portable multiplayer work. Great fking times :')

2:31 this is also bugging me out back in the day. Like, it was so bizzare for my teenage brain that ds has more cod games than psp, considering how powerful psp was compared to ds.

I don’t know of a game where you can diffuse a bomb by yelling at it, but I DO know a game where you can BLOW UP a bomb by yelling at it, and that is Mario Party DS.

Had these when I was in grade school, and me and my friends would play multiplayer all the time. It was great. Never seen someone use a stylus to play though XD I figured they treated the bottom screen like a laptop touch mouse, because that's how we always played it. lets you hold it comfortably with both hands, and then you just use your thumb to operate the touch screen.

The second screen and stylus is actually an excellent aiming input and I was disappointed that more attention wasn't given to online FPS's in later handhelds.

Metroid Prime hunters was my favorite FPS game on the DS. Very solid campaign, and excellent online multiplayer for the time, with functionality for the rumble pack found in Metroid Prime pinball, and the Nintendo DS headset. It truly push that system to its limits. I even got 100% completion unlock the secret ending, which was at the time, badass. Felt like I accomplished something.

CoD was always a game I liked to watch others play, but never really playing them myself.

When I was young, I completed ALL of these (except MW2). I have the weirdest nostalgia for these games.

Black Ops on the DS was the best. Not only was there a Zombies mode on Black Ops, but also I can recall playing multiplayer on it and it was fun for 10 minutes.
