@@masahirosakurai64 Right, they won't go bonking into walls or anything. But they'll wiggle in a predictable swerve pattern that drastically slows them down. Not really the intended effect but it's way better than slightly inconveniencing a human opponent.

Top half of my ds lite broke too lol, it was all floppy and you had to manually hold it at a really specific angle for the screen to display anything

IIRC, people sell dslites that have the top completely taken off, and the long cylinder in the part where the top screen and bottom screen connects is replaced with a decorative light. I might just be remembering it wrong, though.

@@thirteen3678 I meant original tracks, so yeah. Honestly a lot of 8’s retro courses are better than its unique ones. Bone Dry Desert, Shy Guy Mountain, Sweet Sweet Canyon feels like a Mario Circuit that had candy theming at the last second. Where’s the crazy stuff like maybe cherry bombs or cake candles shooting fire? Water Park is another example of barely doing anything with the theming. There’s one short section where you can use a mushroom to shortcut between park rides and maybe bump a Ferris wheel cart before the finish line. Compare that to Tick Tock Clock where there’s clock hands, gears, pendulums, all things you actually have to avoid or interact with pretty regularly on the track. Then there’s the Electrodome, and to its credit, it’s great as a standard twisty, turny track, but aside to the changes to the presentation, where’s the excitement? Have parts of the track become electrified, a disco ball whose spotlights cause a boost if you drive over them. Also Sky High Sundae. I think nothing else needs to be said on that one

The game is totally nostalgic for me! When I was in the 7th Grade, my friends, classmates, and I used to bring our DS' and we would play Mario Kart DS every recess. I remember being the top player at that time, but it's because I'd practice doing those constant snake drifts! I did ended up breaking my DS Lite's D-Pad because of that, but I thought it was worth it! I did however get the 3-Star Rank on my game's profile. I would show off the 3-Stars on my Player icon along w/ my custom MegaMan.EXE emblem. My friends were really impressed too! Ah, good times...
