How to write the plots for new CoD games: *International commando team enters Tempelhof Airport* Pregnant Anne Frank: "Remember, no German." *ominous Zakhaev Airport music starts playing* See how easy that was?
I actually thought that to myself, they were on a german plane with nazi swastikas, how would they land without being shot down by allied aircraft? considering the allies had air superiority by 1944
@@daveJDB They have a better luck pop a signal flare after they capture the airstrip, or better yet, inform the outside perimeter to shoot any plane that move out of Tempelhof, now you can sit back and watch as Freisinger's plane comically get shot down instead of hearing his cringy dying scream.
There are radios, it's not common practice to open fire on an "unusual" aircraft. (transport plane, not flying with escorts, heading straight for allied lines). Even if the radio didn't work, they would scramble fighters who would pull up to the plane and see there's a black guy sitting shotgun and just tell them to land at a controlled airport.
Novak... Could be Polish, Czech, Slovakian... By just mentioning him and not giving him backstory but putting him in special covert operation group I think it's safe to presume he was a Yugoslavian, because no sane company would give a backstory on Yugoslavian.
Not to mention the fact that man has an honour chevron which means he was in the SS since the very beginning and is still only a lieutenant in 1945 when anybody and everybody was getting promoted.
@@richard6771 For real man has an Iron Cross second class, a silver wound badge(meaning he has been injured 3 or 4 times in combat) but hasn’t been promoted even once since he joined in 1933. Man has been in the SS for 12 years and obviously very decorated in combat and is still as low as a rank can go for officers. They probably just put whatever they thought looked cool on him.

There were *real* special forces groups that went on more dangerous, exciting, and interesting missions in *real* life. They could have covered that. Imagine if they had the balls to do a Call Of Duty from the German perspective. Follow a single squad. Half of which don’t believe in the cause, but are fighting to protect their home, and the other half could be full on Nazi believers willing to do whatever they are told. They could tell an incredibly interesting and thought provoking story about the complexity of how regular *German* soldiers saw the war. But of course that would never happen since COD would never dream of taking a *risk* like that.
Yeah, and they wouldn't dream of doing the same thing with Japanese soldiers. They wouldn't even portray the legit racism that a lot of American soldiers had against Japanese, with phrases like "Jap" and "zipperhead" for example. They never showed the innocent children killed in the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. And what about the struggle of the Japanese American soldiers who had to kill people who looked like them and deal with racism from their own side? Anything that humanizes the enemy or portrays America as anything other than the valiant good hero is a big no-no for the COD writers. On a side note, I'm surprised this game never delves into the Sino-Japanese conflict during WW2. The Chinese suffered the most casualties after the Soviets during the war. I guess the current Sino-American tensions prevents any presentation of China in a positive light.
@@raginbakin1430 At this point I’m literally begging for a COD that isn’t from an American/British POV lol. Also, if you want a great Chinese Vs Japan WW2 story, check out a movie called, “The Eight Hundred.”
It's still sad to see that we couldn't play on the Axis side or have an Axis DLC Campaign, where it includes Nazi Germany and the Japanese Empire. Not gonna lie, I think it would've been cool if we could go up against task force Vanguard as the enemy.
@@johnb760 not to mention the armed forces weren't desegregated yet. There were plenty of all-black units with meritorious combat records and inspiring stories, were they not good enough for the devs?
It's a critical race theory movie larping as a mediocre ww2 shooter. This is the only way these people can cope, is by creating a fake alternate universe where blacks and women are slaying those evil white nazis so they can think to themselves "That's what were doing today! I think Vanguard has one of the best looking Cutscenes in any cod. While the older games have that Video Game cutscene charm, this game has scenes that almost look real, like the battle of Midway cutscenes.
how is the plane cutscenes so real? the planes are pulling up 20m above the ground and dont get caught in the blast radius of the explosions, the pilots also miss all their bullets like they never had any training
Just shows that we cant trust American game developers to create a game about ww2 without including a shitty agenda, the overuse of poc, really bad cliche plot, and inaccurate details.
Crazy how they keep trying to shove that poc and women were the only ones in the frontlines of a war fought mostly by average joes from round the corner, cuz they cant handle the fact that mostly whites suffered and died in ww2 for the safety of the free world.
So are we going to ignore like, the various US battalions made up of African Americans, all the different units that had natives of whatever country the fight was taken to? I assume you'd also take issue with anything regarding the Japanese since they aren't white either, bozo
You know, this was good until the entire campaign became a flashback. I’m not even being sarcastic. If they had actually *tried* to go all the way with the alternate universe part of the campaign it could’ve been really cool. It also could’ve justified the butchering of these beloved WW2 guns, or at least the German ones. Going to South America and seeing how the Germans basically deified their weapons from WW2, refusing to move on from them since they were used during Germany’s “glorious” rise would’ve been really cool world building. Then having these commandos not trust each other, showing how they were either racist or sexist, and having them slowly learn to trust each other beyond simply completing a mission would’ve once again been fascinating if done well. They would’ve have an excuse to both, have missions take place in multiple theaters, *and* have some basic justification for the Nazis doing what Steven Spielberg and George Lucas did to that poor Stormtrooper.
Okay from someone who hasn't played the game, but I can say this with glaring and certainty: Vanguard is the malformed child of all of COD- and that's saying something about games like BO4. The guns aren't accurate and broke immersion because THEY MADE NO SENSE- IT'S WORLD WAR 2 IT'S NOT THAT HARD. The characters while they did have backstories just made them as transparent as cell bars because they decided to HAVE ONE OPERATIVE PER COUNTRY on the team and somehow failed on successfully using character tropes. The environments are cool but then again there are several other games that had these lightnings in bottles. Story is about as batshit as things come- but it's not exactly the blacksheep's bottom barrel bad despite inaccuracies and conflicting plot points.
@@Slayed05 Lmao dude if your excuse for defending recycled and historically inaccurate garbage is "git gud", then you need to ask the last time your mom let you out of the basement.
My theory is that at the end of the story since they were flying a German plane, they were probably shot down since allies had total air superiority and maybe that’s why no one ever heard of vanguard because they died and burned along the info and the allies covered it up
Man, just watched this after watching the cinematic cutscenes for ‘The Last Tiger’ mission of battlefield V… Ones a single mission, the other a full fledged campaign, and yet… the former has infinitely more interesting characters, emotional impact, decent historical accuracy, a compelling plot, and overall seemingly better quality then the latter. It’s actually pretty bloody gutting to see a single mission of battlefield do so much better than a how-many-hours-long campaign from Call of Duty.
13:05 Great historical accuracy there. An Allgemeine-SS Untersturmführer (Second Lieutenant) giving orders to a Waffen SS Haupsturmführer (Captain) and Captain replies : "It'll be my pleasure Sir." Not to mention how an Allgemeine-SS can give orders to Waffen SS member, but the guy recieved orders had superior rank than him. That Waffen SS Captain shouldn't be in his Office, Waffen SS were combatative units of SS and all of them were at the front (except General Staff and high ranking Waffen SS like Colonel). Allgemeine SS were tasked with making reports and keeping the order within cities. They were bureaucrats. Also that Allgemeine SS guy is just a Second Lieutenant, in the game we saw he's controlling every thing. Other funny thing is look at his right arm, you see a symbol that is "V". It's name is "Ehrenwinkel der Alten Kämpfer". That was a reward was given to SS members who joined any party organisation before 30 January 1933. Thing is, only some of SS high ranking officers and General Staff had that reward, for example Himmler, Ulrich Graf, Emil Maurice, Max Amann, and bearer of Blutfahne Jakob Grimminger. Not a Second Lieutenant, because every SS who deserved to wear it was already a high ranking personnel in SS when NSDAP seized power in Germany. Fascinating historical accuracy I can say.
The Hauptsturmfuhrer does not belong to the Waffen SS. He belongs to the Security Service (SD). 12:40 You can spot an SD in a diamond on his right arm. That's why he's in the office. The mistake, however, is that he wears the SS runes on his left collar tab, although this remained empty up to and including Obersturmbannfuhrer.
Not Waffen-SS but SD (Sicherheitsdienst), which is an isolated branch within the SS and only reports to the RSHA which reports to Himmler and Hitler. And everyone knew not to fuck with the SD. Which was the equivalent of the CIA and KGB/FSB today. Even a regular SS officer cannot give orders to SD members unless explicitely allowed by the RSHA or SD officer. For instance, in concentration camps, the SD division stationned there had to report and carry out orders given by the Kommandant. However, the SD always came before and an officer order has priority over the Kommandant's wishes.
If there was a game with an actually good Axis campaign it would be the best selling world war 2 game since allied assault and cod 1 put together 100%. But studios are too pussy to do that and the media would destroy the game.
@@Shwonkz not to mention the already deteriorating portrayal of WW2 across multiple media. Battlefield V did the first step, and we need another one that has a full 6 hour or longer storyline that doesn't give a good guy vibe for the Axis.
Shame that there is no campaign where you play as the Axis would have been cool to be a panzergrenadier or fallschrimjager or a japanese soldier from early-late war. Also because german ww2 uniforms look awesome for the amount of drip they exude.
oh yea the uniform is best looking even to this day. Commands respect by itself. You pimp out a private with that and hell have more command than a max star general with a regular pleb uniform.
Never was a fan to be frank of CoD cinematic cutscenes which became the norm after Advanced Warfare. They were always putting me out of the immersion, especially when they were obviosly not done on game engine. Probably why I never had such issues with Black Ops 2.

1:04 in and already I'm glad I didn't buy this game. SOE is British, why the fuck would they be recruiting an international team? A Soviet sniper? In the Special Operations Executive (precursor to MI6). Really? I'm already getting Battlefield 5 vibes.

Battlefield 5 had a better campaign (in the form of war stories) than this, last tiger was an interesting look into the perspective of German soldiers (well in the game a tank crew) in the later stages of the war. It was ballsy and worked.
@Reaper Of Memes, not everyone has the same smoothbrained take about entertainment you do. If you want to vedge out, then fucking vedge out and stop talking about it. But some of us look for well done art if we're going to pay $60 for it. And the only way art can be good is if it represents something that is TRUE and represents it well. WW2 shooters are only good when they capture the reality of the war. Injecting the game with race baiting/feminist sociopolitical bullshit at the expense of actual history is so stupid and lazy. Not to mention overdone. Literally everything today has an agenda and it's all so tiresome.

@39:57 … why the SS would use the Coat of Arms of their (former) rival organisation SA for a secret project and put it with the projects title on an invitation letter explicitly stating that this project is too „delicate“ to describe it in writing is beyond me. Just as much as other things mentioned in the comments before.
That Bougainville scene reminds me of the Millennium Falcon trying to evade imperial fighters by flying right into a huge asteroid and through its canyons until they finally found a cave to seek shelter in from 'The Empire Strikes Back'.
Fun Fact Arthur Kingsley is a part of 1st Airborne Division the same division that Captain Price was in COD 1.And Merville is just 15 km away from Pegasus Bridge
They got the rank insignia all wrong or they don't understand chain of command. They have a hauptsturmfuhrer (captain) answering to an untersturmfuhrer (second lieutenant). Wade Jackson seems a terribly fictionalized Wade McCluskey, and there is no way a Zero would follow a Dauntless into a dive like that. The pilot would lose control of his aircraft at those speeds. It was one of the more glaring weaknesses of the Zero. Finally, maybe I missed something, but the plot seems to jump inexplicably from June, 1944 to late April, 1945 as soon as the team got captured. The whole story is a mess.
Plus the Hauptsturmführer is supposedly a member of the Gestapo which when ever in uniform would wear the uniform of the SD (they got right the losange patch) but should be with a Blank right collar patch instead of showing "SS".
There are more blacks and women in a single cut scene than the entire French Resistance Division. Yes I am all up for diversity but don't bring it when it was non existent. Out of all soldiers of all armies allied and axis in WW2 only 6.25% we're black. Also all female fighters represented 3% of the fighting force. Historical accuracy is really important. It's not racism to feel pressured by the forced inclusion. It would be nicer to do properly. Like call of duty 3 back in the day.
i always thought that vanguard campaign wasn't done yet,i mean it's like not the whole story just a flashback and last mission literally. i'd really hope this was true but sadly it's not. They even cut the arthur's quote "Bravery comes after, not where you at the moment",i thought it was gonna show up on the scene where they heading towards the coastal gun
I've learnt far more from the comment section than I intended to. Came here for the visuals, leaving with a "Hey, why the heck didn't they actually be historically accurate?"
Brain cancer in need of more diversity. Next game they should add a Hispanic chick, maybe an Asian dude, oh and let’s not forgot we need more aussies and black people because we sure as hell know they fought by America’s side in WWII

Every time I see a new COD game, I ask myself, will this be the game there the developers stop jerking their meat red and raw for the events of WW2, and instead focus on OTHER conflicts that the US has been drawn into. I get there's 'Modern War' COD games to disprove in some way what I'm saying in some light, but the reality is the only campaigns we get now are the ones where we can over glorify America's involvement in ANY action that needed war, WW2 being a prime example of that. Just once I'd love to see something like COD: Civil War, COD: Korean War, COD: Vietnam, COD: Afghanistan, COD: 'Operation Iraqi Freedom'....just anything but the same ol' same ol'. (and to those who want to argue the moral implications of making a Call of Duty game centered around the Civil War, Vietnam War, and the Middle East conflicts are SUPER gray need to realize it's only gray because we've made so many of these subjects hot-topics to debate without end vs coming to a place of acceptance that we might be the villains on occasion. Why I liked COD:4)
Most people who say that CoD Vanguard is good, are 13 year olds, who don't care about the game, but just the gameplay and quality. This is modern society guys.

These cutscenes were probably longer than the actual gameplay 😂. Great graphics and story though but I wish they had more missions. 9 is definitely not enough even though they were kinda long.
