To be fair to Avatar (even though I'm still rooting for Endgame) Unobtanium is a term used in lots of movies and tv shows for an unobtainable material. Vibraniums better tho
Oh yeah because elements have really original names anyway, einsteinium, uranium, californium, lawrencium, americium, neptunium, moscovium, tennessine, so element names are shit anyway and if we had actually found it, it would of been called something like pandorium which sounds equally as shit

Me 12:29 minutes ago: I don't really care about Avatar, idk why he needs a video about it. Me Now: Avatar Is A Phenomenon And Should Be Respected As Such
12 minutes and 30 seconds of ranting about Avatar this is what i subscribed waited six months for more content and remembered that i was subscribed to you for
Thank you Nathan. I am constantly shocked and appalled by Jacksfilms' avatarphobia. He is part of a bigger problem of worldwide discrimination against Avatar. Every time someone like you calls it out, the world becomes a better place
Nah nah nah man I might be the only person in the world to say this but that avatar is weird, The blue people one is better. and I'm a 12 year old sayin this.
@@ALIWindMaster Thats completely normal, but you dont realize that maybe you might not like it now, but when you get older and watch it you will appreciate watching it. Even if you might not like Avatar The last airbender now I suggest watching it anyway, you will change your mind, if you finished it and still dont like it watch it again in a few years. Ive watched it 36 times in a row now and im still not tired of it. Trust me its worth it.
@@YawnWoofDog .......I will watch it someday but don't forget that not everyone will come out with the same opinions even if I was to watch it 36 times or something I might still not like it. Another reason I don't like it is because my channel name is ALI(Wind)Master and people keep thinking I'm fan of Avatar the last airbender which I'm not And it annoys me..,that is only one of the reasons, but anyways have a good day :)
Let's remember that Avatar grossed 77 million on it's opening weekend and many MANY people thought it was going to flop. But it became the highest grossing movie of all time. 2WICE.
This vid actually made me appreciate Avatar more. Plus add on the fact that it's an original fucking idea and original world, which is so weird to make successful and create add on to in this Hollywood with just retooled books/remade movies/sequels everywhere
"I just edited that fire transition myself" fire is fire I stan. Also gr8 argument for this sequel, cuz I have been against sequels and remakes/reboots vehemently for a while.
I should rephrase; although you can know how a sequel is going to end like Nathan said (because they generally follow the same formula or don't really add much to the story anymore (Incredibles 2)), they don't bother me half as much as the remakes do (I enjoy watching good characters going on another adventure as much as the next guy), but it feels like movie-makers aren't trying anymore? I barely see anything new anymore, you know what I mean? I completely understand that the technology is getting better and I'm all for that, but they're only testing it out on the same stories we've seen before. And I'm not talking about the same story tropes or formats, but literal things we've seen before. It wouldn't bother me as much if the stories that they're remaking weren't even recent, but that's not the case. It feels like a major cash-grab, which is what it is frankly. And I know I'm not helping this problem by just ranting about it; I'm trying by writing original content myself because that's, I feel like, the only way I can help. Sorry for the long reply hahah
Gotta say. I dressed up as a Navi for Halloween the year or year after it came out. So, I've been am Avatar fan for a long time. It's beautiful, the story isn't bad, it transports you to a completely different world in such an immersing way. Loved it for a while. I'm pumped for the next ones. I even tried to learn Navi!!!
This was an interesting take on Avatar. I never thought about Pandora being the main character and with that in mind it makes the whole movie seem better. I remember being in middle school and being conflicted because the movie looked cool but I didn't get the point behind it besides maybe being about human greed leading to destruction and pollution but why did that have to be on some super cool planet, ya feel? That really shook me and I really appreciate that perspective. Also, I feel like we've gotten really caught up in scifi movies being all about story and that's why it faced so much crap from everyone. This movie has always been visually stunning and no one denies it, but after watching this it's made me think that most scifi and fantasy movies are sagas and epics that tell a long, winding story where you get emotionally attached to characters and, to my knowledge, no one ever felt connected to the characters we assumed were the leads and no one felt like there was anything worth watching because the story was eh. I think we need to have more visually stunning movies to get us a bit out of being so plot-oriented when there's so much more to storytelling than just words being communicated.
People like to call Avatar unoriginal because of the plot. They call it pocahontas with blue people. And you know what? If you wanna be that way about it, sure. It's Pocahontas. In space. With dragons. THAT'S DOPE.
you know what nathan???????? as a former avatar anti u have me sold. i still dont remember any characters names but now im excited for the sequel u made points
I like randomly remembered it existed the other day...brought me back to how amazing it was watching in theaters. Holy shit what an experience. Probably the movie I've seen the most in theaters, after Pirates of the Caribbean lol.
@@sorryifoldcomment8596 I never got to see it in theatres when I was younger, but I have rewatched it many times on bluray. I'm mezmerised every single time and i'm glad to know i'm not just a nutter that loves "bad" films.
I agree with pretty much everything you just said. I remember watching Avatar as a kid and loving it so much I begged my mother to buy the DVD for me. It was one of my favorite movies growing up, and I actually can't remember how many times I've watched it (too many probably). I found their world so unbelievably beautiful and it looked so real! Obviously I still have it and watch it roughly once a year. I'm so excited the sequel is coming out. I'm ganna be first in line for those tickets.
All jokes an all, but here's devil's advocate of why Avatar still sucks: "This man James Cameron made a movie so necessary to see on the big screen, that it came out on dvd and no one seen it" Here lies the problem, if a movie is only good because of it's special affect then all it is, is a gimmick. What makes a good story writer good at creating story, is that he/she can immerse you into the world, even without or the lack of scientific advancement to create the visually stunning affects. If people can only pay attention because of the special affect, then the story is a failure "No one asked for star wars" No on knew it existed, they had no preconception of it. People have preconception of Avatar 2 from Avatar, and if people don't want a sequel, that probably means the movie didn't engage and pushed the immersion of the world-building to want more of it. Again this is proof that the majority were not immersed, because of the flat story that they become curious for a sequel, avatar all ;) if a story is immersive, even if conclusions were made of the main character, then people would desire to seek the mystery of the world of Avatar, but they did not want to.
Watching this after your newest. As an Avatar superfan, you totally get it. James Cameron is one of the few remaining Elder Gods of cinema and he's giving us original sci-fi movies that are his life-long passion project that he has poured a decade of effort into, and yet people are doubting, hating and shitting on him. If you look at all the comments before Avatar came out on movie forums, there was so much doubt and so much mocking. The comments were IDENTIICAL- even the Pocahontas Ferngully Wolves jokes were being parroted before the movie came out. I get serious deja-blue reading them.
