Honestly, as a teacher, it depends on who is pulling the bit. I have students I know that like and respect me, and think it's just for fun, and I have students that don't respect me, and do it as a way to try and get a barb in at me. From the tone of voice from these kids, it sounds like they have a pretty playful relationship with their teachers. I personally would feel a little peeved about being filmed without consent, but that's just how I'd feel in a casual light as person.

It happened a long time ago. 1994 I think. But I called my teacher by his first name, and I got a detention and he grabbed my tie and stapled me to the desk. Teachers seem more laid back now.

Funny, in Scandinavia students and teachers are mostly on first name basis. We rarely use surnames in our day to day interactions overall. Nor Miss or Sir.

In Brazil it is somewhat like that too. It is actually not very polite to call someone by their surname. It sounds like a nickname. Normally, one calls a teacher by "professor + first name", unless it is a first name that is too common, in which case one is allowed to use the surname.

Yes. If a student called a teacher mr this or mrs that, in Sweden, the teacher would look at them as if they were crazy. If the teacher's name is Lisa, you just call her Lisa. If you call them anything other than their name, it's their nickname 🤷🏼‍♀️

I think it's so funny to see these and see how offended or shocked some teachers get when you call them by their first name. In my country, Denmark, calling someone "sir", "miss", "ma'am" is frowned upon and perceived as "weird".

The reason the paper didn't let the ruler fall is because, the width of the paper is almost perfectly distributed when something randomly guts it out of place, the air molecules can not move fast enough therefore it just moves a small bit. (And just air regularly puts force on it)

(My daughter has a disability and needs special equipment to get around, not on trails like that this, but just in general, too many people think her wheelchair is a stroller (kids wheelchairs don’t look like adult wheelchairs until they get to a certain size.)

If you rewatch it, the most offended one was actually the youngest teacher. So for many it's probably to reinforce their authority and put some distance between them and then students, especially when the age gap is smaller.

@@florinkeefer5330 I'm not an expert by any means (I'm also kinda stupid so correct me if I'm wrong), nor have I ever seen this method before. But I'd have to say it's because of the air pressure against the paper. Almost like a suction cup holding it down. Let's say you tried to lift the paper straight up with the ruler underneath it, there'd be resistance and the sides of the paper would bend from the air pushing it down. Very little resistance obviously, but still just enough to stop the ruler from falling. Sorry for the paragraph lol my small brain can't compress a sentence down or explain things very well.

Definitely find it funny how my *college* professors were all fine with being called by their first name and even preferred it compared to these. I had grown up with teachers like this that insisted, and would even get offended if you used their first name. So when I went to college, and in a different country, I found it ironic that, instead of continuing that, the teachers there insisted on first name basis. And there was definitely a major difference in how the students interacted with them. Much more casual and open. Not actually intimidated or afraid to ask for help from them or feel like they were a bother to the teacher. It made me look back on the other teachers I'd had, many of which were actually pretty bad (both in attitude and education [I legitimately questioned the existence of a teaching degree for many of them]) and finding it ironic how mad they'd get about something so small.

It's because when you get to College you are now an adult. The fact that your teachers in grades K through 12 went by Mr. / Mrs. / Miss is because at that point in time you are a child addressing an adult. Think about it, growing up did you ever address any adult, regardless of what job they held by their first name? I mean maybe it's different where you are from or in your family but where I grew up (Hawaii) no kids did that. Or at least no kids that were not bringing an attitude.
